And they live in group tigers always hunting small deers. Plus male lions do learn how ro hunt alone after they are chased from their pride by their dad they spend a year or 2 hunting alone and sometimes with a brother

Also smaller prey doesn't mean it's easier to hunt,it's just not impressive to look at.And there is not enough evidence to know the percentage of tiger diet of each prey not in my knowledge atleast.

Modern mature male lions weigh somewhere between 400-500lbs. 550-600lbs is the absolute limit for healthy, wild male lions.

I know this is really old but i wonder how that lion that was limping fared? was that the beginning of the end for him or did he recover from that injury? he is lucky to have his partner there to help keep him fed and provide the energy and nourishment to give him every chance to recover otherwise he would have been in real trouble. However we have witnessed this pride of lions attacking and taking down Buffalo that are, to our eyes fully fit. Of course they will asses the herd and always pick and choose the easiest target but if the opportunity arrises they will definitely try, and occasionally succeed in taking down an animal as powerful as a large Bull Buffalo.

I don't think lions (or any other big predators) necessarily only focused on attacking weak and disabled creatures, they're opportunists and would quickly take advantage of any form of vulnerability that their prey presented. A fully healthy bull buffalo that fall into an ambush is a lot easier to take down than a pregnant cow in the middle of the herd.
In Asia, male gaur surprisingly fall victim quite often to tigers, because of their more solitary habits.

@BullFan22 @earthtouch I would say the difference is, unlike the other big cats (i.e. Leopords, Jags, Tigers) Lions don't often take down animals by the throat from fear of getting hurt, because their prey is usually larger. They typically attack the larger animals like Buffalo and Hippo from behind and use exhaustion of the animal to their advantage. This male lion must have felt lucky and went straight for the kill shot. That is why it went down so easily. Just my best guess as to the ease.
What I would really like to see is a full grown male lion taking down a full grown buffalo bull.

There is another video on youtube of a lone male lion charging a large herd of buffalo head on and it shows him diving underneath one in full flight and then latching his teeth onto the buffalo's throat and taking it down that way. Unbelievable courage, speed and power shown by that lion in the video. He could have gotten trampled but he times his slide to the throat perfectly. The herd was walking towards him as he was hiding behind a fallen tree waiting for them to get closer. All those dangerous horns pointed right at him but he charges straight at them like they were a group of rabbits. He shows no fear charging right at them head on as fast as he can. Even more amazing then this video. Here it is if you have never seen it.
