Been having fun playing on the server these days usually I don't fly the hornet because its so outclassed in air to air against F-16s and F-14s on red, but to be honest I think its growing on me, I might be doing a lot more of it in the future. Great as always GS... any chance you’d be up for some more team BVR vids with feisty, long shot, jay, etc? Love to see some 2v4 f15 v. Mig29 action or something like that (thinking of “the best wingman was he” vid - one of my favorites)... or maybe a combo of f18 and f14 to show how you coordinate the situational awareness of the hornet with the range of the tomcats Phoenix... (I just want to hear feisty she obnoxious on comma again... TWO)

Sometimes I wonder why there was no submodule of the air to air viggen. Like the F-14A. I think it just carries old sidewinders and sparrows.

@@Stinger522 Nah. Tons of details about the Meteor are still classified, so I doubt it could be modelled with any level of realism in DCS.

Love the approach in the hornet dude. Definitely feel like a lot of guys fly the thing way too conservatively and forget that the key to mastering PvP (in pretty much any DCS fighter) is good SA. That AMRAAM performance is a nice touch too though....

The F-18 outclassed by F-14? I would certainly agree at high altitude, sterile BVR timelines, but with both aircraft actually fighting to win? The 14's SA gets stressed heavily when fights get dirty, and the hornet begins to shine there. I've never felt super concerned about F-14s aside from respecting silent 54 shots, though of course any aircraft with capable weapons is a threat not to be taken lightly!
I agree fully with the SA statement and pretty much everything else tbh. a good Tomcat drive won't get that close to a hornet in the first place but if he does he's in trouble.

8 Amraams? What a strange loadout I usually go with 6 and remove the 2 outer pylons so i can get to mach 1.4 without being too heavy

The Super Hornet may have seen its first flight in the late 90s but it is still the navy's premier multirole aircraft with advanced radar and advanced avionics package. Especially in the later blocks, we begin to see improved stealth and jamming capabilities that really prove why it is called the Super Hornet. something DCS Developers would not be able to get their hands on without it feeling just like the legacy hornet. Trust me I want it BAD as well.

it's literally called Tac View, bc it's Tac View.

When engaging in BVR (25+NM) are you exclusively using RWS or TWS for tracking? Do you switch between the two? I fly the F18 almost exclusively in your server (thanks for the Canadian server btw!!!) Because it's my favourite PVP aircraft. But man, that attack radar it has you've really gotta work it for it to be effective. Be that as it may I will say that the F18 radar and SA is extremely powerful and probably one of the best if not the best in the game. Just trying to see different people's approach to the attack radar and bugging targets BVR and what targeting modes are used/preferred for engagement. Cheers!

Would be great. Further more a lot of acm between F104, F5, F4,Mirage III and Lightning were going on during the cold war.
Maybe you can do some dogfight of light weight vs heavy fighter doghfight with similar dicta in mind, i.e. Su-27 vs Mig-29 or F-15 vs F-16 where the Reds thinking about high AoA in mind while the Blue thinking about Boyd's Energy Fighter Mafia theorem respectively. So we can see which fighter best outperform in phone booth knife fighting
So its all about the jet ? Or the pilot has something to do in those 4th and 5th generation aircrafts . Cause me personally i prefer ww2 aircrafts 😁😁 . Or maybe there is something i don't understand
It more about knowleg about whats the performance of your and the enemies plane, how long your missile need to reach him and his you, when you should go cold, where he is and where you are, where you both could get cover, where other friendlies/enemies are etc.....
Does F/A-18C have higher Thrust/Weight ratio than F-14? I think I had read them in wrong order!

I haven't flown MP yet. Do you get a label that tells you who shot you down? Because if I EVER get a label that I was shot down by Growling Sidewinder, it's beer time!! That's like an honorable death LOL.
Yes, in the multiplayer chat you can read for example that player xyz killed play zyx with missile 123
as you fly, can you go into more detail about the signs on the radar, hud and all the other displays? Like which number shows distance, which shows speed - that kind of stuff. I don't play DSC (or any games for that matter) but i really like how you explain tactics and all. The biggest mystery to me now is how you orient yourself in space and see threats/friendlies/types of ac/directions, etc, and consequently make decisions on whom to fire or when to abort. Like you said "missal at my 5, now at 6" - how do you know? I think explaining data in the cockpit could be a whole new sort of lecture and could probably help players also. Especially taking that different planes have different cockpits. And it might actually be interesting to you too, because you sound kinda bored explaining cranks all the time)) Thanks!

What's the current state of DCS? How complete are the F-18 and F-16? Is the Harrier finished yet?
The Harrier is out of early acces but not completed. F-18 and F-16 are still in early acces but the Hornet will leave it maybe this year or 1Q 2021 while the F-16 is still very very early acces and miss many weapons and systems. But it goot the Maverics and HARM's some month ago.

He is flying at angels 30, the CAS is different than flying lower
The speedindicator tells your speed by the dynamic air pressure that went into the pitot tube. At higher attitudes, there is less dense air, so less air will went into that pitot tube and it will show lower speeds than you actually flying.
What's your defaukt FOV setting to get the zoomed out effect or do you just use a zoom slider on your throttle?

Sadly no. The truth is that there isnt any modern russian plane because the russian goverment doesnt give enough data to simulate a modern one :(
