      J Coz
      1:6 scale builds are really expensive. For WWI Mark IV RC tanks, they're usually from overseas. Like England and Germany I BELIEVE. Don't say I said I know. I'm only saying as a guess. But England is one I know for sure.

      J Coz An English company called "Armortek" make them you can Google it. At one time they made quite a range of British, US and German tanks and guns but now they seem to only do 3-4. Cost of one of their tank kits was about $4,000 in 2007.

    These are nice but the size makes them expensive to maintain if something breaks not to mention they weigh a lot too. Personally I'm a big fan of the 1/16 scale.

  • @hiramabiff9138

    These were so much cheaper before "war thunder" came out; now, every kid who's played the game desires to buy one and build as a "father son" project. I remember a good Tamiya model ran for about $300, and now they're over $1000+... and at that price, I feel as if I could almost plan the thing out, and build it myself from scrap. Even the really cheap plastic built 1/16 tanks, made by Heng Long, spiked in sales; I know they were more around $60-80 when I was looking at them, but now your lucky to find a lesser liked model for under $110 from a reputable dealer. I understand a good 1/6 model can cost way over 1 thousand, but I just wish there was something a little cheaper, but better built than most other 1/16 size models...
    Regardless of my rambling though, the video was great; thanks for sharing.

      idk what the hell you are talking about tamiya tanks have been 700 plus for years and years i have a tower hobbies book from 06 and they are all over 700. thats way before war thunder

    • @hiramabiff9138
      @hiramabiff9138 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      KrazyFuckinCrackers1 Dude, trust me.. Basic kits were once sold for about $300, which included minimal items for operation; you then were expected to continue purchasing upgrades until you had a working/better working unit. They sold you a plain model, and eventually you'd buy metal tracks, radio receiver, metal gearbox, recoil unit ect... or you'd leave out things that you didn't wish to pay for, which conveniently kept the price low. Tamiya eventually terminated this way of doing things, and replaced it with their $700-850 kits, which included most of the things they considered "necessities" that the tank needed to run and be properly functional, these were called "Full Option" kits... over the years (the last 4) to be exact, this price has steadily increased to the current $1200-2000 for the exact same _Full Option_ kit.
      Your correct in stating that Tamiya has held the $700+ tag for a while, but they were indeed $300 once; though with much more limited features until you upgraded. Back in 2003, I was apart of a few different forums, which detailed users and their purchase process in upgrading their tanks. After the $700+ release by Tamiya, people were coming to the forum on a regular basis showing entirely complete tanks that only lacked paint... Of course, its because they purchased everything in one go, and completed it in a weekend, instead of making it an adventure to buy and build over time, which is also another reason why I miss the old $300 dollar way....
      Also, there is this....
      "*A four-channel RC unit is necessary to operate this kit. Two 7.2V Tamiya Racing Packs (or equivalent) and charger are also required."
      So yeah, the controller unit for these models, runs about $270 from Tamiya, and the battery packs and charger are likely to run about $125+ (prices for these are not listed on the Tamiya site, but a charger from my local hobby store runs about $35, and batteries are about $45 each)... There's also the obvious modeling necessities, such as tools, glue and paint...
      All in all, this hobby isn't cheap, and has officially become a option for only those who can afford.....Sad really... Even if people didn't have a ton of upgrades (such as recoil unit, metal tracks ect.), people still enjoyed their models regardless, for Tamiya to take that away is just _shitty_ in my opinion.... The only reason I'm back from the dead, mentioning it at all, is because the price didn't stay at $700... its climbing to ridiculous heights with the same product .. $1200 for a _full option_ Tiger? 1500+ after other needed items are purchased....
      Lmao.. you can keep it Tamiya... I'd rather save my money for a down payment on a car.
      ~Andrew
