"Steel Mogu and Clear Tamei are Iglooghost’s back-to-back follow ups to his acclaimed full-length debut Neō Wax Bloom. As ever, the releases are bundled with multimedia storyline material that feed into Iglooghost’s ever-expanding narrative - giving longtime fans their first glimpse into the primordial era of the Mamu dimension. Although paired in format, the dual EPs draw from different corners of Igloo’s influences. Steel Mogu is a hyperspeed collage of synthetic, trance-influenced synths contorting around violent, mutating 808s - whilst Clear Tamei channels lavish string quartets and melancholic, fictional classical instruments.
The double features are set in Mamu, 3000 years prior to the events of ‘Neō Wax Bloom.’ We are introduced to a young, see-through, god in-training named Tamei. Although a gifted, he and his little cohorts resent their fate of becoming Grid Göds - and find themselves wound up in a hyperspeed, cross-temporal battle with a fleet of mysterious, round beings."

Iglooghost's work reminds me of Codex Seraphinianus, which is an encyclopedia of a made-up universe, with its own language, flora/fauna, number system, but which is still vaguely related to our own. I think I will listen to this while reading that.

Growth as an artist is always what I'm striving to find. Iglooghost is REALLLLLYYYY coming into his own and it feels incredible.
chief this sounds pretty similar to his other albums imo, but still crazy unique. I'm happy he didn't change too much, I don't think I'll ever get bored of his music, it's insane!
That's what I mean, it feels like he's finally comfortable and has established his style. Growing into himself.
for new artists I think its best, even preferable to stick within the style that they broke out with for a good amount of time. refine it, and only move on when you have a consistent fanbase willing to give a new approach a fair listen. so yeah I'd agree I'm glad this album is just a refinement of his style haha
He definitely got the style he was going for. His old works were incredibly different and more like Flying Lotus until he got into this phase, which will probably be his primary "style" now
I can’t even imagine how a person can achieve such a level of production, each sound of which is thousands, stands in its place and everything is heard perfectly. Incredible work.

First time listener. I’m so happy to have experienced this not knowing what to expect. Got the suggestion from fantano but wasn’t sure if it would be my cup of tea.
Let me just say that this is without question the best production that I’ve ever heard. The transitions, crescendos & decrescendos are so damn magnetizing that you don’t even know that new songs are being thrown your way. I didn’t check the time until I was 8 minutes in. I’m so glad that music like this exists. I aspire to have this much clarity in my production.
If you're into seamless composition, check out Joanna Newsom. Cosmia and the whole Ys album is a good place to start. It's a lot different from this (she's a woman who plays the harp and piano VERY WELL) but it you force it for a while she will make you cry. She is so gifted.

That whole cycle is governed by the Grid Göd, and Mogu wants it all to stop, 'cuz being a Xao sucks. He travels back in time with his fleet and shoots lasers at Tamei (cos he's the baby Grid Göd). I stumbled across iglooghost's nu year EP a couple years ago and was both confused and dazzled, but never saw anything by him since. Now I'm seeing all this new shit and it's so nostalgic and amazing to see him progressing so much without changing his style
Throughout the EPs, I felt like a timelord on space coke, drifting in the universe, my companions beeing...the chipmunks, of all living creatures. Seriously though, this is the most organic electronic composition I've ever heard. An otherworldly masterpiece!
