    Going into dept for my backhoe, Dump truck, Trailer, Crane.... loans was the best thing I’ve ever done. Not everyone has cash. Id rather fianace equipment to get the equipment so the equipment can start making me money and build credit and I keep my cash as working capital for Back up. There’s lots of work out. Squeaky wheel gets the grease

      +greg silva your plan doesnt account for risk , debt is risk, if you dont have the money save. That's what i did, its not hard it just takes time and it is the best way. Loans are instant gratification and typically dont work.

      I started my current business 💯 percent on credit cards.
      Still doing great now and debt free.
      I started a different business with cash back in 06. I went broke in 3 months and had to sell everything to just keep my house.
      Different strokes for different folks.
      Everyone has a different situation.

    Dam!!!! Here in Ohio we,re running 6 axle Petes and KWs 13 speeds C-15and C-14 Cat motors with 21 ft aluminum beds and lightweight around 24-25thousand and allowed 74 thousand gross and tags and insurance is less than $1500 per year each truck.

      Main thing with dump is regular maintenance. Our trucks are serviced each week and fluids checked then look for any flaws(cracks,airlines,tires,lights) Ours are in the coal,mud,sand,dust,gravel, etc. Up keep a little more than over the road truck

    I wouldn't bother with DOT numbers unless you are crossing state lines. If you are not in "interstate commerce" you only have to deal with whatever state requirements you have. Crossing state lines requires 'apportioned" plates, IFTA over 26,000 gross, Uniform Carrier Act fees, drug tests etc.
    I wonder if an $8000 truck is a good idea unless you can do the repairs yourself. Sounds like parts will quickly turn it into an expensive truck even if you don't have labor costs.

    I have buddies in the excavation business like I am here in MA. And they say their trucks (10 wheelers with 54k over weight permit) costs them 10k every year before they even turn on the key. That's registration, insurance, over weight permits, dot number and registration, IFTA. This doesn't seem right. Any one have any idea what that's all about? Looking to get a 10 wheeler to grow the business but am trying todo my re search before I get in over my head and go bank rupt with the thing.

    I think you need to get the weight checked, 16,000 is light, probably weighs at least 20 especially with the drop axle.

    • @BRIANVANDUYN
      @BRIANVANDUYN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking the same thing that might be the weight without the box ?,

    • @RobsTrucking
      @RobsTrucking 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Van Duyn that's probably as a road tractor, your truck probably scales 24500 to 27500 depending on how heavy the bed is and how much fuel you have.
      DOT numbers are free you are talking about your MC number which allows you to cross state lines. You can get a DOT number and run intrastate. Not sure what your state charges for in state authority but that's all you would need.
