The OG blacks were paired with Silver pants and white accents, and that contrast with the black made it ugly. This new one has subtle grey to make the blue pop while still mixing with the black, and black pants help too.
Black is a base color for two teams: the Raiders and the Steelers. The Lions colors are honolulu blue and silver. Black has nothing to do with the Lions (or Eagles, or Ravens) - it’s weak AF.
I see where you’re coming from, but look at the two side by side. Theirs are more sleek with Majority black with blue accents and white numbers, while our new black unis are more vibrant with the big blue numbers and bright Honolulu blue helmets.

Black uniforms have become so unoriginal, and boring. It’s ruined the viewing experience for NBA teams. I want to tell which team is which. There is no need to change the blue and silver. The only teams that look good in black are the Bears, Raiders and Steelers. I do like the Lions retro uniforms version they included in the new uniform set
