No one is mentioning that the music here was recorded by B E F. The two guys who left Human league and would go on to form Heaven 17. The band shown on stage had no part in the audio here. Great version. Tina can do no wrong.
I remember MTV played this video quite often back in its early days. It's a simple video but it captivated me. I didn't know this song, I didn't know who Tina Turner was but what I did know, even at 11 years old, is that Tina was gonna be huge.
the old Hammersmith Odeon in London!!! 1982. likely that she filmed her "Nice 'N' Rough" concert during this same trip. in my opinion, her best era. Tina at her hungriest -- she'd found her sound and turned up to 11. the smile proves everything. LEGENDARY!
❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉 LOVE THE ICONIC 🎉TINA TURNER🎉!!!!! She is the ROCK and SOUL QUEEN AN 🇺🇸 AMERICAN TREASURE 🇺🇸. This version of ●Ball of Confusion● is WAAAAY BETTER Than the original version. MY DEAREST DARLING ♥️ 💖 TINA TURNER R.I.P 🌹 🕊 ❤
Interesting, "Whats Love..." is basically the first no1 I was aware of as a kid. I always imagined she was a massive star prior. But the 80's videos and stylists gave their acts that feel even if they didn't take off and returned to obscurity . It seems it was a big facet of the era abruptly relaunching 60/70's stars; synthesized, shoulder padded, gelled n curled and repackaged for the 80's. Maybe they was a machine somewhere that industrialized the process? still a lot of 70's here, fantastic though th-cam.com/video/_NlyWrNODRo/w-d-xo.html
credit where it's due to British Electric Foundation (BEF), the production team behind this track. If it weren't for TT's appearance on their 'Music of Quality & Distinction, Vol. 1' album in 1982, who knows what would have happened. FYI, BEF also produced 'Let's Stay Together'. Never heard of BEF huh? How about Heaven 17? It's the same guys.
YES, Heaven 17, producer of some of the best eighties. I consider this track the start of the actual comeback of Tina. I still have 'Music of Quality & Distinction, Vol. 1' on vinyl
I’ve loved The Commodores original version of this song almost since it came out, but this is the first time I heard Tina singing “Ball of Confusion”. WOW!! Very powerful!
I love both version y’all people gotta stop saying who’s better than who’s everybody cover ain’t gonna be the same but with different tunes learn to show some respect!
First time I saw this today. And checked out the Temptations's version too as you mentioned it. I like both versions - the smoother, orchestral one by the Temptations and Ms Turner edgier, rockier one. And she looks really now in her attires. This is over thirty years old? Awesome.
Officially it is not Tina Turner, it is "B.E.F. featuring Tina Turner" (that's what it says on the record cover). She just did the vocals, everything else was done by B.E.F. (Human League, Heaven 17)
I agree with that assessment. It'd be a tall order for anyone to produce a version to compare with the Temptations' one. Saw Tina live in London in April 1982 with a friend from school, the year after we left. She was flanked by a pair of female singers and dancers like here. Energy levels to put a woman half her age to shame! They didn't half throw themselves about, and got the whole audience up and dancing. Sadly, that was the last time I saw my friend because he died that summer in mysterious circumstances. RIP Ian Boswell. Love always.
The Genesis of the greatest comeback in music history.
❤Tina & The Temptations
I love that Turner performed with those same two dancers for so many years. Let's talk about them as a dancing powerhouse trio!
Ann Behringer and Former Ikette Edna LeJeune Richardson. Incredible vocals and they had to keep up with Tina while doing it, too.
They succeeded @@nathanwahl9224
I hear you brah 1:01 that blonde shaking her hips in those hot pants vis 🔥 hot I bet she knows what to do with it she was a dancer in Xanadu 1980
2:37 the leftie was a Ikette shaking that thing in hot pants is sexy Tina sure can pick em
She covered a song, that describes today perfectly. She did a fantastic job!
Right on! In 2024.
This song is more relevant than ever before.
Certainly is Susan
Word for word this song holds true till this day.
Norman Jesse Whitfield and Barret Strong were clairvoyant prophets
So true!
Googa looga
Tina Turner - The Queen Of Rock!
Love the live backing band..... to an electro pop tune!
The Acid Queen has left us. Rest easy, my dear, and thank you for all you've given us.

Those BEF records were superb. Some amazing pairings on Vols 1 & 2. Billy McKenzie's Secret Life of Arabia instantly springs to mind.
.... listen to the boys ( or was it voice?) of Buddha.... ♡ nonetheless amigo , we don't need no fascist groove... thang ☮🕉🎼

Well she had been huge, this rebooted her career though, or maybe created her post-Ike career.
Dan Aykroyd picked this video when he was a guest VJ on MTV.
Temptations honored here. She nailed it. 💘
Tina had that right then and for today. RIP BEAUTIFUL
This song is appropriate for July, 2024.
When she covered this for "Music of Quality and Distinction Volume One", I knew chapter 2 was going to be much better that chapter 1. RIP dear Goddess

She's just amazing!
Never heard this song B4 . It’s completly insane ! Waouh !!
Go listen to the real version by the Temptations and learn a thing or two
It's a cover of THE TEMPTAIONS hit song, written & produced by Norman Whitfield, MOTOWN genius! ... & Tina does it PROUD!!!!
Awesome Arrangement and Performance by The Great Ms. Tina Turner of this Temptation's Classic!!
TINA TURNER FOR PRESIDENT!!

What a great song!... And defining what the world is today...!
RIP. She is free from the Ball Of Confusion.
Fell in love with Ms. Turner after seeing this video on MTV in the 80s.
Rest in peace great lady!❤
Love the Camera Angle on The Girls

First time to hear this fantastic cover . Song fits today perfectly
Every word is so crisp!❤
Just discovered this song while watching an hour with Guest VJ Dan Akroyd from 1983 MTV and I wish I had heard it sooner.
What a voice
Tina Turner recorded her version with The British Electric Foundation (BEF, a project by Heaven 17) in 1982, album "Music Of Quality And Distinction"
OMG,i love it...
MTV played the music video during "Closet Classics" (1984 - 1987) back then!!

This version is simply Top. And so on point more than ever in the history of mankind. Oh… pardon and womankind too:-) 😅
I’ve loved The Commodores original version of this song almost since it came out, but this is the first time I heard Tina singing “Ball of Confusion”. WOW!! Very powerful!
The original was by The Temptations.
Fully concur - sod bugger all to do with the Commodores
love this
Great song. Great version.
Minha cantota favorita desde sempre. Rainha do rock com muito mérito.
Absolutely loving this song …. I so needed this today and playing on repeat…😂apologies to the neighbours 😅

R.i.p. my favorite 😢
Essa gravação, com certeza foi a responsável pelo contrato para gravar Private Dancer.
Tina Maravilhosa!
Im a tina fan but never heard this!
Tina was the female Hendrix. In her own league, above all.
Rip Tina😭

That was so true in the 70s,oh by the way here in 2022 it could our national anthem.
Appropriate song for the times...
Does anyone else hate how this sounds a lot like a summary 2020?
🔥🔥🔥
Gawd, we miss her. I would have loved to see her sing with Janis Joplin! The black woman on the right, was she in the Clash Burning down the house??
First time hearing it, not bad.
I tell you what, Miss Tina Turner knows she can sing. I love The Temptations, but this version is better than theirs.

Not heard Tina sing that song before.
Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 on actual backing vocals.
In Michigan please tell ne when MISS Turner is near me Coloma, Michigan
Originally by the Temptations in 1970.
Otis Williams,Melvin Franklin,
Eddie Kendricks,Paul Williams,
and Dennis Edwards.

Watchmen TV series brought me here!😊😊😊

There is another video for this song
As tina and the gang said years ago ain't that the truth xx
RIP
Its not a great song but tina can make anything better!
So I'm taking it there doing the horns and harmonica on the keyboard LOL cuz I don't see them
I think Tim Cappello played the harmonica, and maybe synthesizer, but I kept looking for the camera to pan out to see and they never did.
Nobody does it as good as the Temptations. Does not compare.
I agree! The Temptations version, from 1970 is fantastic. This is ok, but the powerhouse lead vocal of the young "Dennis Edwards" is outstanding!
I agree with that assessment. It'd be a tall order for anyone to produce a version to compare with the Temptations' one. Nobody? Listen to the version by The Undisputed Truth. Same backing band, The Funk Brothers, but very extended. A trip....
Am I in heaven?
I'm sad I didn't know the love n' rockets version was a cover
But I believe the temptations did it first.
@@toddsundell262 they did
Sorry this is definitely not the original performance and video is over dubbed with an inferior performance.
No one could do better than Temptations!
YOU BETTER PUT SOME STANK ON IT ANNA MAE.
Who is that heavily made-up background singer?
Mn this is terrible! The Temps should be pissed!
No it is not TINA WAS SCARED TO DO THIS SKNG BECAUSE IT WAS SO FUCKING WEIRD noises coming from that side to the other it was new to her
