  • These commercials aired on CBS on October 1st, 1980
    1. CBS Station ID
    2. TV Spot for "Coast To Coast" (This Robert Blake guy seems like a charismatic fellow, I wonder what happened to him?)
    3. Great Western Savings (With Glenn Ford)
    4. Promo for "2 On The Town"
    5. CBS Wednesday Night Movie Intro: "Fugitive Family" (A made-for-TV movie that premiered with this broadcast. At 1:36 Ronny Cox from "Robocop", "Total Recall" and other movies can be seen)
    6. Mercury Lynx
    7. RC Cola
    8. FTD Tickler Bouquet
    9. Wonder Bread
    10. Head & Shoulders (With Leah Ayres)
    11. Bounce
    12. Coast (5:48 do real people actually do this in the shower?)
    13. Post Fun'n Fitness (With Bob Griese)
    14. Bell System
    15. Scoundrel (7:13 Oh hey, it's that ghost lady that lives in my mirror. Honestly, with all of the magic imagery and the use of the song "Witchcraft"...it really seems like this guy is being stalked by a witch)
    16. Burger King (It's so weird to see Burger King of all places selling a roast beef sandwich. Also Steve Guttenberg on the left at 8:01)
    17. CBS Wednesday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    18. Promo for "The Fury"
    19. CBS Station ID
    20. Air New Zealand
    21. Security Pacific Bank (9:21 Never thought I'd ever see Syd Mead style futurism in a freaking bank commercial)
    22. KNXT 2 News Bumper (With Connie Chung)
    23. Ragu Pizza Quick Sauce
    24. Matchabelli Cologne (The faux antique photos here are of some male model and look nothing like the real Prince Georges V. Matchabelli...who was honestly a bit weird looking: i.imgur.com/Oh...)
    25. Honey Nut Cheerios (I've said this before, but the early design of the bee mascot looks pretty identical to Casper The Friendly Ghost)
    26. Energizer
    27. CBS Wednesday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    28. Promo for "To Find My Son"
    29. CBS Station ID
    30. TV Spot for "The Elephant Man"
    31. Sizzler
    32. KNXT 2 News Update
    33. Promo for "Barnaby" (I think this is advertising "Barnaby Jones"?)
    34. CBS Wednesday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    35. 1981 Chevy Malibu Sport Sedan
    36. TV Spot for "Hopscotch" (The scene with Walter Matthau dressed as a Sikh would certainly not fly today, but this was made 42 years ago and the trope of secret agents using such disguises in media was still common)
    37. Ortega Taco Shells
    38. Certs

I was a kid again with every commercial. Even the Television movie premiere theme brought back memories. *THANK YOU!*

5:41 - "If Bob Star doesn't get up, nobody gets up". Bob Star apparently holds a lot of power, and he wields it wisely with the power of Coast.

If I learned anything from all the commercial videos on here that came from 1980, you had to sell THE FUTURE so the bank ad was spot on, even though they were acquired by Bank of America in 1992!

The Elephant Man was a rare dramatic film to come out of Mel Brooks' production company, Brooksfilm. He personally downplayed his involvement as a producer, because he felt if it was advertised that he was involved, people would think it was a comedy.

That Coast to Coast ad with Robert Blake just talking about the movie is kind of odd, but not unheard of. It reminds me of the ad campaign for the 1992 film, Toys, which was just Robin Williams standing in a field doing improv.

Coast To Coast-another in the "mismatched male/female duo" movie genre
Fugitive Family-daughter shouldve cut off all contact with the boyfriend..*side note love how the announcer starts talking fast towards the end of the promo as if he were trying to avoid the gunmen ..maybe thats who Ronny was saying "FREEZE!!!" to😂
Scoundrel -he was never seen again..
Burger King-guy at the left would later enroll to become a police officer
The Fury-very good movie..notable for both Jim Belushi's random appearance as well as the ending
To Find My Son-the answer to when Richard was asked"Where are you going..?"
The Elephant Man-yes he was a human being.. r.i.p John Hurt
    Hopscotch-"Good title."

I had a Mattel Electronics Battlestar Galactica game in 1980 but I probably used Duracell batteries to power it...😅

FTD Tickler Bouquet- With the way people were getting tickled on the nose with the feather on a stick that comes with the bouquet in this commercial, I almost expected people to sneeze after being tickled.
Coast- That man's alarm clock buzzer sound sounds spooky, like nightmare fuel.

Hopscotch is my dad's favorite movie and the Eleanor Roosevelt scene has been a running joke in our family for decades

The "This is Eleanor Roosevelt" line crossed my mind sometime in the last few weeks, and I knew it was from a movie ad long ago, but had no clue of any specifics. Thought it might've been Martin Short, for some reason. heh

Wow! Just scratching your head gets you written off in the 80’s! That’s pretty harsh (and petty) 😂😢

Ronnie Cox played an almost identical role in that made for TV movie as his character from Beverly Hill Cop.

I remembered the BBQ sauce was excellent and made the sandwich. Would it have been good without, I couldn't tell you.

It reminds me of Community making fun of Chevy Chase doing a similar Fletch kind of disguise as his "swami" character in Community and everyone immediately saying NO.
