Was kinda surprising to see this game getting the 1.0 release and a Switch version especially on how much people asked for but was just a tiny project XD Also is kinda cool that the Steam version does have a way to import the creations to an 3D Printer for those that have it.
By a lot of definitions this would be considered a "toy" instead of a "game" as there are no win or lose conditions, it's just something you play with. Nothing wrong with that, but that's my take on your initial question.
Looks fun but those wierd wibbly walls and shapes would bug me. Its fine if you can remove them in a mode but its a toy. I wanna perfect it some. # Lego
Part of the reason for the download count is that this is used as a town building tool for D&D

I like to think of townscaper as an art program

Big Mazeworld energy
I see it as a tool servicing other games, rather than a game unto itself

I think i would call this an entretainment program.

19:30 am i the only one that sees a slight resemblance to Alcatraz?
Acorn-traz
At least it would help designing towns for DnD.

I like this game. I own this game. It's just so...empty.
I only paid $4 for it yet...I still feel a bit underwhelmed.
it is an art project, it have zero goals and just lets you build whatever fills your mind. Think minecraft in creative mode.
