As an aviation professional who’s been watching your videos for a long time, yet never commented. I’d just like to say how professionally you handled this approach. You showed your briefing and prep work, juggled both a Unicom and centre frequency and talked us through your personal minimums of an acceptable tailwind on a narrow and short runway. On Unicom you used resources available to you such as asking another aircraft (who is likely familiar with the field and nuances of the wind there) and went with his recommendation. Topped it off with a lovely approach and a textbook short field landing technique, wing slightly into the wind. 10/10 - this video should be used as a learning tool.
Hi Ben, First off… Thank you very much for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video and happy you commented! As you know I strive to be the safest and most professional pilot I can be so I’m glad it came across in this video! Hope you have a great summer. Take care. Thanks again!

As a kid, a hotel in Alpine is designed like a Swiss inn, we would stay there frequently instead of in Jackson Hole. An ice cream parlor below with waffle cones... and I always thought the entire lake from Swan Valley up thru to Alpine reminded me of places in Bavaria. We'd take the RV and meet up with grandparents and others with their RV. Was a quick drive from Pocatello. I'm only in my late 30's, but I haven't been those parts since I moved from Idaho Falls in '04 to Boise. Now, I feel freaking old :( We would do a few day trips, miss them. Weekend drives to the mountains in fall or early spring, was cozy sometimes bringing a grandparent along. Sometimes we would do the entire circle from Poky to Idaho Falls to Swan Valley thru to Alpine (for longer day trips stop at Jackson Hole) then to Montpelier (sometime we'd divert and spend time at Bear Lake if we didn't stop at Jackson) then to Soda Springs to Lava Hot Springs and back to Pocatello. Always found that particular trip funny starting north and coming back from the south. One big circle. I think we did it in reveres a few times going thru Lava Hot springs first and around back to Poky. You stirred my memories up :) Thanks :)
