      After the ambush, the car (since it was stolen) was retured to its original owner. Once she figured out what happened to it, she displayed the car in a traveling carnival for about 5ish years.

    No one is gonna believe me when I say this, but it IS actually true: Bonnie Parker is a very distant relative of mine. My Grandmother's last name was originally Parker before she married. She did a family background check, and actually found out she was related to her as a distant cousin. She is my, like five generations ago, distant cousin. It was a surprising fact to my Grandmother lol. She just thought it was coincidence they had the same last name.

    My grandfather lived in a town where Bonnie and Clyde came through being chased by police. He said people in town were afraid and holed up in their houses with the shutters down. He said they flipped their car on a sharp curve; but, still escaped on foot. He said that after police had taken everything from the car, folks in town were allowed to go through it. He got a marble out of it that he kept for many years before he passed away. My grandmother had an original newspaper clipping of Bonnie's poem that she kept in a frame until she died. She had a lot of historical items that she left to a museum in Texas.

    I am glad you took the time to make this video and shared it. I was seven in 1970 when i saw this car, it was on a trailer at a Carnival in Richland Hills shopping center parking lot, Richland Hills TX. My Grandparents took my brother and I to the carnival and I just wanted to examine that car. I did because they let you touch it, look inside it. I remember leaning over the rail of the trailer about the car running board height, looking thru the bullet holes in the drivers door and sticking my finger through most of them. My papa held me up so i could see down into the car, the seats were ripped up and dark stains, it made an impression on me for sure.

      The Tommy gun was a pea shooter compared to the Browning Automatic Rifles used in the ambush - 45 Caliber and 30-06 respectively. Bonnie Parker was also reputed to have never shot anyone. If this is the case, being torn apart by dozens of rounds proves that she and Clyde made law enforcement look like jackasses for far to long,

    Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed approximately 5 miles south of Gibsland IN Bienville parish Louisiana.
    Clyde was hit 20 times and killed instantly.
    Bonnie took 26 rounds and still had a faint pulse, but died where she sat.
    The Bonnie and Clyde museum is in Gibsland, and has many of their weapons and personal effects retrieved from the vehicle.

    I am in my late sixties. saw that car when I was about 15 yrs old in a traveling show at that time you could put your finger in on of the bullet holes in Bonnies side of the door. I just noticed at the time that it was a lite beige greenish. Didn't have that painted thing on the hood.

    I remember watching that movie when I was a kid. Lakewood theatre in Dallas. The movie version of Clyde slow motion outside the car of course was more dramatic. After finding out Clyde was hit first ,killed instantly, now think they should've wrote it correctly. Warren and Faye did a great job ,though.

    I paid 50 cent to see this car at a shopping center in North Carolina back in I believe 1969. It was in a trailer with one or two other cars traveling around the country. At that time it had no plastic on the seats and you could see the blood stains on the seats. I was able to see into the car of course there was no paint on that car at that time. I saw it at whiskey Pete's on two different occasions the first time it was just roped off and the second time it was encased as far as I can remember. But what really surprised me was how small Clyde shirt was he was not a very big man. But they sure did have some tears and holes in it. And a lot of bullet holes in the car and back in 69 you could see were bullets had hit the steering wheel and been hit a couple of times.

    • @g33k43
      @g33k43 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I saw it around then when I was 3 or 4 years old in Alexandria, LA. They had mannequins in the car and the image stuck in my mind is that Bonnie had bullet holes in her face and Clyde's head was down on the steering wheel.

    • @garysicemore3907
      @garysicemore3907 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think what I was told at the casino. Which was whiskey Pete's that they had given a million dollars for the car not sure if that's true or not that's a lot of money. But at the same time that's a lot of history. The car when I saw it in 69 was actually in pretty good shape except for the holes in the blood stains. There with two other gangster cars in with it but I cannot remember what the other two were or who they belong to long time ago.

    • @AimlessAdventuresVlog
      @AimlessAdventuresVlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember that. The first time I saw the car was sometime in the '90s at Whiskey Pete's when it was just roped off. Back then you could put your hands inside and faintly see blood stains although, they were very faded. They had to put plastic on those seats because over the years people kept ripping everything from the car they could get as a souvenir. A lot of years have passed and between time and direct sunlight the bloodstains have faded out quite a bit.

    I saw this car back around 1970, or so, (not long after the movie was made) in a traveling road show in Downtown Walla Walla, Washington. Not many years later I saw the car that was used in the movie at a fair. The big difference I remember is that the movie car was shot up a lot all over, but the real car has that concentration of shots on the driver's door. When the movie came out, all my friends wanted to see it, and I ended up seeing the movie 13 time, and ever since then i have had this strange fascination with Bonnie and Clyde.

    Interesting Video, enjoyed the tour. I read some interesting books on Bonnie & Clyde, one was, My life with Bonnie & Clyde by Blanche Caldwell Barrow, University of Oklahoma Press, and Go Down Together, The True Untold Story of Bonnie & Cylde by Jeff Guinn, really interesting. I was amazed that on the FBI files Bonnie Parker was only wanted for riding in a felons stolen car, and she didn't actually shoot the police officer with the shotgun, at that time she was lame with battery acid burns injuries on one of her legs, treated by Clyde Barrow, leaving her partly lame, and Clyde Barrow had to carry her out the car, don't get me wrong, no one asked her to go for the murderous ride with Clyde and his gang, but almost an exaggerated folk law has been built around her in my view, when she received the acid burns, if Barrow had have left her at a hospital to get proper treatment, on arrest she would have probably only got five years, maybe people will disagree, great subject though.

    • @janetcarlson31
      @janetcarlson31 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      actually, although Clyde was known for his driving prowess, this time he wasn't so lucky. He made a turn at nearly 70mph, the car flipped on its side and burst into flame. Clyde was thrown from the car, Bonnie was trapped under it. It amazes me to this day she did not die from burning to death or infection. Her right let was burned very, very badly. She screamed for her mama delirious with pain for days and nights. Clyde was out of his mind trying to ease her suffering. There wasn't much he could do but get burn cream and gauze. It took over a year to heal and Bonnie walked with a bad limp the remainder of her life. As far as your second statement, Bonnie was given opportunity time after time to follow a different path than Clyde's. No one knows why she continually chose to go with him. Mad love, so they say.

    Having looked at the film taken just after the ambush, the one with Bonnie and Clyde inside, some of the bullet holes appear to add up, but some don’t? Without the ability to overlay the photos it’s difficult, but, the passenger side rear quarter glass from the original film , and the car on display, it don’t add up, but it might f been changed over time, but even though it has a bullet hole in it, it’s certainly not the same glass as that was shattered though still in place and the officer taps on it.

      I know that thing has been picked over. Everybody wanted a piece of it after they were killed. I saw the same car many years ago and used to be able to walk right up to it and take a photo with it but, you know what happened. People started picking apart the fabric out of the seats and taking pieces of the glass and all kinds of stuff.

      @@AimlessAdventuresVlog It was alright considering the short time frame they had to tell the story.
      One thing that really hit home that was scary, is how the towns people acted at the... end....surrounding the car, grabbing at the bodies and anything else in the car that they could get .
      Trying to rip stuff off the 'bodies'. is what they did in real life..
