Joseph Parodi I was actually part of a technical design department for a different company that got contracted by wdi imagineerig to design 54 of the animated props.
Honestly, I love the addition of the Disney/Pixar characters throughout the ride! I would love if they added that to the ride here at Disney World. It makes the ride feel even more like Disney, and interconnects the world we live in with the wonderful world of Disney.
I feel u! Hopefully in 2021 (WDW's 50th anniversary) they'll have the ride updated to look like this! Or maybe if we're lucky, it'll be updated and ready to go before 2021!

I had no idea they'd do an extensive overhaul of the indoor queuing area as well. I'm blown away by this reimagined attraction! Hercules, Rapunzel, and Merida? Awesome! Everything about this was seamless, meticulous, stunning, and absolutely magical. Well done, Tokyo Disneyland!
While I do think this is very cool that they added more Disney characters into the ride for this park, the Disneyland version already has a few characters from the movies in it already and I think adding more would just be too much and would take away that classic feeling of the ride.
I hope Hong Kong and Magic Kingdom will do it, too. What Tokyo did make the It's a small world a new high level to express the Disney cartoon characters' features completely.

Again... we need more coverage like this from Tokyo Disney Resort to show everyone how the WDW should be at in regards of state of the art and show quality. And keep in mind that both Tokyo parks are superior in every possible way and only charge $75 a day versus the Magic Kingdom charging close to $120 with tax. We are so robbed in Orlando.
Well, now I know what the Florida Small World would look like if it ever gets this treatment (since the layout of Tokyo's SW is a direct copy of Florida's)
I'm glad the attraction was given a long awaited makeover! What blew me away was all the characters in their respective nations. I was even more surprised to see Moana in the Pacific island section! Now it makes me wanna go back soon
Having grown up going to Disneyland in Anaheim I don't think I could ever get used to the versions where the queue goes inside the attraction. I LOVE that the loading/unloading at Disneyland Anaheim is outside. Thanks for the video!!
This is something all versions of its a small world need. It may be classic without but it adds that element of Disney and putting the characters in their respective countries makes it much better
Say what you want about the characters but man, that COLOR! Bright, vibrant, magical, and the contrast against the black background is amazing. If they ever add the characters to WDW I hope it ends up just like this, new paint and lighting included!
the entry is so different from what i remembered ! i've been to tokyo disneyland 4 four times, and this ride is one of my earliest memory, especially when waiting in line and enjoying the beautiful, magical set. i will always love its a small world.
All I can say is that parks in America really need to step up their game. A lot of classic and beloved attractions are getting gutted to make way for the 'new and improved' ones. I REALLY love this version of "It's a Small World," because while it's different, they added a few dolls here and there, while not taking over the whole attraction. It still feels like It's a Small World, but there's a couple things different. It has the music, and the dolls! It has the essence of the classic attraction. Like they did with Maelstrom, they felt like it was outdated, so they got rid of virtually every aspect of the ride and replaced it with Frozen Ever After. I think with the It's a Small World method, you can please everyone- fans of the classic attraction, and those who want something new.
lovelollipops 22 they remodeled one (1) scene for POTC and people went WILD so idk when or if it’ll help . But I definitely agree with you Id love to see some refreshments of classics along with some new attractions
Wootdorf Studios I feel it doesn’t really take away much. Even the “original” in Anaheim has had characters in it for years now, and the kids absolutely love being able to point at a certain country and know their favorite character comes from there. Same song, the characters are properly placed, and the animatronics are still all there. It’s only understandable to add more disney to one of their own most popular rides.
SweetlySerene they didn’t change POTC for entertainment reasons which is why people thought it was stupid. If they changed it with something less blatantly political and more creative, maybe it would have been a good change.

But as long as the management team at WDW is not willing to continually improve their product like Oriental Land Company does at Tokyo Disney Resort, the Magic Kingdom will continue to be an example of disney parks in the 20th century. WDW management is all about Star Wars and Marvel and Toy Story Lands that really don’t cost Billions to build.

This is quite clever. I missed seeing a few Disney characters I hoped to see, and I want to rewatch the video. Imagine being there and just thinking "oh I'll hop on again and see if I can't catch more." The hunt for Easter eggs is always going to be appealing and of course the more movies come out with worldly characters they can just keep adding on.
They really went all out with the characters! Lighting looks great. I do like seeing totally refurbished attractions as it's almost like seeing something totally new!
8:13 this is my favorite section of the ride. I love how the music. Fades into the next note and how tropical it sounds. I would shake my hips to it forever. I’m going to Japan soon so hopefully I get to go to their Disneyland. We are always at the Anaheim disneyland, though. Thumbs up of you’re a #annualpassholder 😀👍🏽
This is just awesome! Love the looks of the characters so they blend right in that's exactly the way it should be. Disney needs to do all of that to WDW, except for the last room, I like our no color scheme and a ton more dolls and movement.
Wow, the indoor queue is so cool! I mean, Disney World has an indoor queue as well, but not as extensive and pretty! Also nice to see that Tokyo Disneyland has the same problem at the end - a buildup of boats gently ramming into each other while you sit there with nothing to look at or listen to.

This was beautiful! The American Disney parks need to upgrade their Small World attractions to be like this one, bright and new looking, with bright colors and the addition of the Disney characters. The attraction in Disney world is beginning to look a bit shop worn.
My favorite additions are Marie (from "The Aristocats") on the Eiffel Tower- in the French segment, as well as Lilo, Stitch, and Moana in the Polynesian segment! 🗼🌊
I hope they do this to disney worlds for their anniversity next year but they should also add a north pole and america room and have new dolls and props to make it the ultimate one or someting
This ride used to be my favorite when I was 5 but now it scares me so badly and one of my biggest fears is the ride stopping and getting stuck on it lol
It’s cute but I like having both and if I were to choose I’d choose without it simply because I feel the point of the ride is to show how we are all human despite our differences and the Disney characters put a magic in the ride that focuses on Disney, not the point of the ride which is “we are all equal and must share the world we live in since we all live in it, together.” But it”s fun having both.
I wonder if there's a reason this ride is in English but other rides in Tokyo Disneyland are all Japanese. Is it because it was easier to use the original track which was English or because most Japanese people understand English? Or maybe it just starts in English and sort of fades and comes back like the original ride. (I think Moana is my favorite addition)
I love the emphasis on Disney characters in this, but is there no America section? In the Anaheim one there is an American section with woody, bullseye, and jessie
It's part of the Disney Dark Age, it's never going to get a feature anywhere unfortunately. Same for Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Meet the Robinsons, Chicken Little, and Bolt. There are other older films as well that will unfortunately be essentially ignored by the parks.

They did a really nice job. I got to ride it in late 2015 and it seemed pretty tired at that time.

Happy fortieth (40th) anniversary, Tokyo It’s a Small World!
This was beautiful! The American Disney parks need to upgrade their Small World attractions to be like this one, bright and new looking, with bright colors and the addition of the Disney characters. The attraction in Disney world is beginning to look a bit shop worn.
Best I’ve ever seen IASW look! Great refurbishment! 😍😍😍 Hercules sealed the deal there.

My favorite additions are Marie (from "The Aristocats") on the Eiffel Tower- in the French segment, as well as Lilo, Stitch, and Moana in the Polynesian segment! 🗼🌊

it will be a while (either 1 or 2 years), but disney characters will be added to magic kingdom's it's a small world as part of the 50th anniversary

This ride used to be my favorite when I was 5 but now it scares me so badly and one of my biggest fears is the ride stopping and getting stuck on it lol

It’s cute but I like having both and if I were to choose I’d choose without it simply because I feel the point of the ride is to show how we are all human despite our differences and the Disney characters put a magic in the ride that focuses on Disney, not the point of the ride which is “we are all equal and must share the world we live in since we all live in it, together.” But it”s fun having both.
I wonder if there's a reason this ride is in English but other rides in Tokyo Disneyland are all Japanese. Is it because it was easier to use the original track which was English or because most Japanese people understand English? Or maybe it just starts in English and sort of fades and comes back like the original ride. (I think Moana is my favorite addition)

It's part of the Disney Dark Age, it's never going to get a feature anywhere unfortunately. Same for Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Meet the Robinsons, Chicken Little, and Bolt. There are other older films as well that will unfortunately be essentially ignored by the parks.
