    Hello sir .
    I am a big fan of your TH-cam channel
    Why do oil tankers carry imdg code onboard.
    Please clear this doubt sir I have been asking so many people no one could clear the picture.
    In MMD I was not able to answer it .

    • @SteeringMariners
      @SteeringMariners  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks a lot Lokesh. To answer your question: Its a bit tricky. Technically, tankers (oil and chemical and gas) don't need to carry IMDG for the cargo they carry. They cargoes would be classified under the MARPOL, IBC, IGC and even IMSBC sometimes but not IMDG. However, you have to realise that IMDG is not only for cargo but will apply to any dangerous goods carried on ships even in small packages (it doesnt have to be the main cargo but could be carried on pallets on the main deck).

      Someone told me that only MFAG & EMS applies but volumes are voluntary .
      For this I checked eg.,
      Crude oil in DGL
      it is petroleum concentrate class 3 product and Marine pollutant ,it is not carried in packaged form .
      okay.
      but in case of emergencies Mfag and ems might be required . I think so so till now . But nothing in black and white .
      Thts the problem 😂
