VW Golf MK5 Front Struts Replacement (guide for everybody)

  • Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode on my youtube channel howtodo. In today's episode I will show you how to replace the shock absorbers on the front of a golf mk5. Follow my steps to be able to do this relatively easy job too simple but at the same time complex.

    according to your experience, do you recommand to change the spring also ? I mean, with the age and miles, does it get shorter anytime ? I speak for every car

      Yes. For my cars in special I always replace most of the parts when I'm working. The springs it's a must with the shock absorber. For example if you only replace the shock and let the spring in the nearest future the spring can break and you have to work again there you have to pay the labor 2 x times then normal. And so on.

    Why do you need to take the lower ball joint and cv out

      It's easyer to do it in this way because you have to push down the entire assembly to be able to pull the shock absorber out.
