  • It is estimated that 1 in every 3 people who have experienced a trauma will go on to suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, many of which will go undiagnosed. For those who have suffered multiple traumas, they may even develop complex PTSD. Symptoms can include anxiety, fears, phobias, OCDs, anger issues, nightmares, flashbacks, panic attacks, sleep disturbance and aggression. We would like to reassure you that with the correct therapy, everyone can successfully overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as this video will highlight. Success in therapy is therapist dependent, so if you've have had, or are having therapy without progress, be sure to seek a different therapist and ask to see testimonials of their success in treating the condition.

    Hello the Speaksman, I'm one of your loyal fans, could you guys please make a video about 'how to care less about what others think' ? I would appreciate it! Thank you so much!

      The fact you care so much about what others think, suggests that you lack confidence and have low self esteem. We will be posting videos on these subjects soon. Thank you for being a loyal fan. x

    So wish there was more people like you both, that can actually help and make a difference, and most importantly give people hope that they can recover and be happy again. My daughter has ptsd and I feel like I'm at a loss of what to do. Doctors and other health professionals she sees have lost her hope. X

      Thank you so much. Please never give up as PTSD can be overcome. There are other PTSD films also on our TH-cam channel and on our website www.speakman.tv - please share these with your daughter to highlight to her that she must never give up, and to keep trying different therapies until a therapist who understands her condition can help her. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook where we announce the PTSD case studies that we work with on This Morning from which you may gain some pointers to help your daughter, as well as confirming to her that there is hope and she can get better xxx

    I am so pleased that the Speakmans were able to help so much. This was indeed a complex case, however, I’m not sure that this was an example of C-PTSD. Complex issues, yes, but this doesn’t seem like complex-PTSD (at least with the information available here). That said, I also don’t agree with the hopeless notion that we should just live with it.
    Regardless, congratulations on such progress, and stay well, you deserve it x

    Thank you so much for the hopeful messages. I wouldn't say I suffer from PTSD but it certainly had an impact on my life. I do everything to not have anything to do with my own country and the language because I suffered so much growing up there. Now I don't speak my own mother tongue and will never go back to my country.

    Hi there The Speakman's, I am a Brit living in New Zealand for the last 10 years. I have Complex PTSD and I was wondering if you ever do therapy over Skype or alternatives?
    I have had years of therapy and despite my efforts and total willingness to talk about everything. I am stuck to the point that I have my trauma playing out like a movie 24/7. I have also been on medication which has changed my weight from 48kgs to 118kgs. Yep 70kgs weight gain resulting in diabetes, sleep apnoea and spinal issues. Basically my Dr says I am dying of C-PTSD. I have been watching everything on your channel and on This Morning and I have hope for the first time in years. Is therapy with you long distance a possibility?

    • @nikandevaspeakman
      @nikandevaspeakman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This would not be a possibility at this time, however please know that you can overcome CPTSD. Please watch the PTSD related films on our TH-cam and all the PTSD case studies on our website www.speakman.tv and apply anything we say that is relevant to your circumstances to yourself. Please know that although unpleasant, the feelings you experience are a form of protection as the issues that created your PTSD has not been resolved for you and therefore you still feel at risk, therefore you have to consider why you are no longer a victim but a victor of that situation. Hope that makes sense and that it helps xxx

    I have PTSD depression and anxiety. It has taken over my life for years. Medication and medical professionals don't help. The people who were supposed to be helping me (support workers) left and I don't know why. I did have an allergic reaction to the medication I was given. I would love your help.

    I have been told by many doctors that PTSD causes a chemical imbalance in the Brain, which is why I can never get off my sertraline 200 mg/day. I live in Sweden and this has been going on for years..

    please help.... I have had ptsd for 9 yrs after a catastrophic traffic event. That day unraveled me. I've been in cognitive therapy including EMDR for 8 years, I am on 5 medications. Though I am functioning better every single day is a fight. Do you do. intensive workshops? I have no hope that my ptsd and associated diagnoses (fear of death, fear of alone, some bi-polar tendencies now) will ever go away. I am blessed to be a Momma to 5 great kids. They need me back. I need me back. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

    I have C-PTSD from the corrupt judicial systems in America. I doubt anyone can help me and my friends who've experienced the same, because we don't trust anyone anymore. Only God can save us, so we just hope Jesus comes soon. He's our only hope

    • @aliciah5367
      @aliciah5367 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      meyersonfire I have it too. I do t trust anybody, I act out and I have resentment because I feel everyone is so arrogant and selfish. But it's me that's selfish. Feeling like a victim doesn't help either. But I also am a Christian, and God has taken me places I could never imagine. I highly suggest edmr therapy. And confronting those who hurt you, because when you don't have a voice, you can't connect with anybody and therefore you feel isolated and alone. I'm sorry that you are suffering as well. I pray God blesses you, and gives you peace of mind and a new heart and spirit. You are loved deeply!

    I hope the Speakmans don’t endorse what the guest says at the end: “Medication’s not the answer. You don’t need that!” Mental illnesses are biological and therefore the chemical imbalances in the brain can be treated with medication. When you were born with an anxiety disorder, you can’t just snap out of it like these guests say they did. Especially when it’s compounded not by irrational phobias, but by a phobia of certain people due to actual verbal and emotional abuse that actually happened. Hearing that what I’m feeling doesn’t make sense and is “ridiculous” would be the least helpful thing to me!

    Jesus Can heal it. Even overnight. ;) Blessed be God! Seek for right, pure Christianity (not false one). Don't build your life around anything else, anything wanishable - that's what makes traumas deeper.
