Some of us still value the oak. I have a tiny one hundred acre tree farm and have been managing it for almost 40 years. I am proud to say I have brought back a deer winter yard with very selective cutting of the hemlocks on my farm. I have protected the red and white oaks and now have a Grove of white oaks. Most of the land has white pine, our tax payer lumber. Our lumber is very diverse, including all three birches, an aging stand of beech, a smattering of maples and the occasional cedar. May the foresters be blessed.
Here in the UK, South England, we have a town called Sevenoaks but in the 1987 (?) big storms, 3/4 were felled by the high winds. When they counted the rings they too were ancient behemoths. Their loss was national news. New trees have been planted but you and I will never see them in their full glory.
The Celts held a deep reverence for trees. The oak was considered the king of trees, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and longevity. It was often associated with the god Taranis.

Once again, DW has provided us with the worst documentary I have ever seen. I want to see the trees. You took a cabinet maker out into the trees to talk about the aliens, the cycles of the moon, and hes menstral cramps before he discusses the trees and the wood. This documentary is a children's movie about the magic of trees, it contains very few facts intersperced with footage of the cabinet maker who the editor must have had a crush on. They stop talking and just cut to the cabinet guy over and over and over, and I don't think hes pretty, so obviously this content is for children or women like are desirous of a cabinet maker who smokes too many doobies and talks to trees

Nice, I have a 101 acre tree farm I've been managing for 42 years.
Denmark has several protected oak trees that are considered giants, with Kongeegen being the largest and oldest, estimated to be up to 2000 years old.

Don't put trash all over a tree. How stupid!
