    I’m so happy to hear she left. I agree, that marriage would’ve just been a huge nightmare for her. I don’t think the ex was trying to be mean, I really just think he was in utter shock he’s really seeing his mother act this way towards his ex fiancée. (I mean would you expect your momma to attack a pregnant woman? I wouldn’t 🤷🏾‍♀️.) If she really doesn’t want the rest of the family involved besides the dad, I’d file a restraining order against that side of the family and for extra precaution, a second party be present for visitation with dad (just in case the mom shows up unannounced). This is was a very shocking story, I hope the op is okay now and has a good family lawyer.

    • @dualwielder6830

      I kinda disagree considering the fact she said he was saying to stop. At that point he was well aware of what was happening to be able to talk.if he was truly in shock he would have just stood there with his mouth open unable to move or talk.

      @alyssaberg8507 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The ex definitely could have still could have been in shock. Unable to move or speak isn’t the only kind of shock out there. But I also think he could have intentionally not gotten involved because of his opinion on the op/his mom. I also think that she should try to get full custody over her child and then allow the father to see them. Even with a restraining order on the mom, I’m not sure if I would want him to have parental rights if I felt so strongly that he purposely just let his mother attack me. I understand how difficult it can be balancing a terrible relationship with your ex/father if your child, but still wanting that father in your child’s life.
      My mom died from cancer when I was 14. She had hired a lawyer to transfer guardianship from my father to a close family friend for after her death. But even though she had raised me completely on her own since I was three, and I only visited my dad around a week a year starting at nine, they had shared parental rights since she had never taken him to court. It made transferring guardianship incredibly difficult, and it added unnecessary stress during a time when I was vulnerable, and almost completely ruined my relationship with my father.
      Obviously, that’s not an incredibly common situation, but there’s just so many things that can go wrong in life legally, with a child. So it honestly might just be better for her to have the legal rights, and create a contact schedule herself with the father. Even though that would be an incredibly long, expensive, and tiring court battle, it could be worth it depending on how crazy he/his family really are.

      The man was willing to cut all ties with his family and let his mom stay in prison for this woman but that wasn't enough. Not only the shock of his mom attacking her but the man was still devastated over the breakup that happen 3 DAYS ago. She didn't try to notify him she was on the way or tell him she wanted to talk. @MetalHanyou1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +113

    So wow, where to begin?
    OP's ex seemed to reasonable at first, but he slowly devolved into the exact same sort of crazy as his mom. I know it will come as no comfort, but OP may have dodged a bullet by breaking it off. It sounds like, at its core, Ex's mom was afraid her "baby boy" would be taken away from her. Ex himself didn't seem willing to accept that his mother was in the wrong, trying to convince OP to drop charges even though OP was the victim in all of this. It's entirely possible that he played a role in a lot of this himself that he was trying to keep secret.
    OP needs to be aware she has done nothing wrong. She tried to make nice, tried to be good, but her would-be husband and would-be mother-in-law were content to make things hard for her. I don't honestly think I could see any way that relationship could have worked in the long run. What OP went through is horrible, and I hope for the best for her and her baby.

    • @CidVeldoril
      @CidVeldoril 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah, OP's ex is not crazy. He knows to limit his losses. He has already lost OP despite doing his best to keep her. That is nobody's fault but the mom's of course and breaking up to never see her again is a valid option. However, at that point he had lost her and any potential future family with her. So, why then would he side with his ex after that against his mom, who is still very much in his life, as is the rest of his family? It seems to me from everything said in the story that he was willing to lose either his mom / family or his bride-to-be, but not both. So of course, when one forced the issue and broke with him, he chose the remaining side. That is not crazy. Not wanting to be alone is not crazy.

    You poor woman! You've been through enough! Your story has really made an impact on me. There were so many things I could relate to. I'm so sorry you've had to go through this!! Time to be proactive.
    Hire an attorney. Get a permanent restraining order on the mother( She has absolutely no rights). The Restraing order Should cover both you and the child, Even after the child is born. and a temporary on the father for doing nothing and endangering his own child. Make sure you're attorney gets you full parental rights And custody. It shouldn't be too hard cause he assisted in his own child's endangerment. Once the child is born he can have supervised visits With absolutely no way shape or form his mother is included in. He is the one and only person that has any rights to this child! No other person in his family does so just write them off. You don't have to deal with any of that so ease your mind. The way he acted at last meeting he may not even want anything to do with his own child. That would be fine with me no stress, Other than financially. Just make sure you have a photo. Never lie to your child about what happened but son/daughter later may want to know what he looked like.
    Don't be upset if he doesn't want to see the child. Do you want your child to be raised with the morals of that family? Not me. I truly believe that your child would be abused just by the fact you're his/her mother. I would never leave the child alone with any of them. Be thankful you didn't marry that clown. The rest of his family can pound sand. Press charges now! It will only confirm your position later. Nothing is too stressful to protect your child. You can take my advice or not, it's your choice and life. I wish you all the blessings, luck and love!❣️ Keep us informed on how you are. One more thing....Your Mom is Awesome and Totally Rocks!!!👍🤭

    At first, I had some respect for the fiancé and his family (apart from the mother). He almost handled all of this well. But, then the break-up happened and I saw it. It wasn't a backbone and honor he was displaying before. It was pathological conditioning. He was conditioned to defend and submit to the matriarch. His girlfriend/wife-to-be served as his matriarch. He was conditioned to support her even if she was a complete psycho. As soon as she was out of the picture, he ran straight back to mommy. The default matriarch who had recently found the fault in her programming of her son and will be sure that he never has a healthy relationship with a partner EVER from this point forward. Not that this relationship was particularly healthy either.
    He's a victim of a narcissistic sociopath parent.
    It's far more common than anyone would expect, because as we saw, he masquerades quite well as a functional adult.
    It doesn't exempt him from also causing harm. He did his fair share of harm through enabling a dangerous person. And he's likely to do it again. And again. And again. Until he understands just how unwell he is and seeks help.
    OP 100% made the correct choice to extract herself from the situation. And he actually does not have any innate parental rights due to his not being a part of any form of parenthood aside from sperm donation. Sperm doners have no parental rights. If OP goes to court to sue for child support, THAT would be acknowledgment of the child's parentage and the father's responsibility. OP should also refrain from having his name on the birth certificate. He would then have rights to sue for custody. But as it is, he could attempt to sue for custody, then the police reports would show the danger apparent in his home and family. He wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell of any form of custody until he could prove to the court that there is no danger. And with the mother's complete inability to control herself, that's doubtful.

    Honestly, with the 2nd or 3rd update, I was conflicted on whether or not the OP should leave. I'm one to believe that you marry a person, not their family BUT in-laws can be a pain and you always have to ask "are you willing to deal with them for the rest of your marriage/life?".
    That being said, with the final update....aside from the violence towards you, but I'd say that you ultimately dodged a greater bullet. This jerk of a fiance would have never defended you and the last thing you need is to deal with a monster-in-law.
    If you have a strong relationship with your mom, see if you can live with her while raising the soon-to-be little one.....but I would sacrifice him paying child support if it meant not legally having to interact with him or his family if I had the financial means. Some things are NOT worth it.
    I hope you and the baby are health and stay safe. You'll get through this with people who actually love you and your child.

    I'm always amazed that more people don't realize murder is always an option.
    I mean, at what point is it justifiable, if not out right self defense?!

    If I were in this situation but didn’t tell them anything about the baby I would tell the future kid that “the father is a spineless man child who didn’t want anything to do with them and stays in their mom’s house without a job!!”

    She destroyed someone’s Christmas tree? Well restraining order and prison time for her

    She should get full custody of her baby. And depending on where she is, she might have to fight for grandparents custody, where the grandparents can sue for not seeing there grandchild. So getting complete custody would be best and probably very easy for her, considering all the crap that has happened.

    She should press charges for assault, on both incidents. She should also get a restraining order for the mother, and get a lawyer to try to deny access of the baby to the father because of the assault by the mother. The attempt to cause a miscarriage, and the refusal to stop the mother by the fiance might be reason enough to deny visitation, or guarantee only supervised visitation.

    She must just get away from this family. They are all crazy including the ex fiancé, he was just just being nice when they were together but she would have realized they are all the same 5 years down the line.

    Dropping the charges and restraining order is the stupidest thing in a situation like this. Should have sent that witch to prison and dumped that relationship in a heartbeat given all those red flags. But then again, hindsight is 20/20. All the best to OP and hope she finds a partner who is better for her and her child.

    Holy chrome, I'd heard the first post on another reddit reader, but not these updates. That almost in law was a complete and total psychopath

    In my opinion the longer the story the more interesting it is

    I would tell that woman to lawyer-up and maybe leave the "father" portion of the birth certificate blank so he doesn't have any legal access to the baby. The only way he would get access is if he demands a paternity test, but if she gets a restraining order against both of them, that should solve that.

    Now, I’m a very passionate atheist, and I hate people who try to force Christianity on people who do not want to be a Christian. But the same applies for anti-religion people. I do not and will never believe in god, but I certainly will not force my beliefs on others.
