I'd love to see a shootout of this vs. the Bluguitar Iridium, H&K Black Spirit and the Laney IR SLS. And more importantly, how it handles "in the room" vs. a drummer.
Since getting this, I have sold my kemper and quad cortex, tonally it just sounds more real. We use them direct to FOH and in ear systems, and its phenomenal.
I wondered if they were going to do this or not with the Kraken, after releasing the other pedalboard sized amps. However, I am a little confused on why they didn't change up the naming, because this makes it very easy to confuse it with the V4 Kraken 2-channel pre-amp in roughly the same form factor. Which is awesome btw.
I love this direction with the lunchbox style amp and the Two Notes cab sim! I wish Kemper would add a power section to their “Stage” to take this style to an entirely new level.
I was always told that a tube amp should never be turned on if there's no cab behind it (something about electricity resistance if I recall) If this one supports XLR output with the cam sim, I assume this isn't a concern on that product?
Pretty sure that really comes into play when you have a tube power section, while this is a solid state class D power section. I noticed the same thing with the cheap little lunch box amps like the micro dark. They run just fine with no load as the tube is in the pre-section. I use mine just for the pre-amp. Hopefully someone corrects me if I'm wrong about something I said here.
hello man, can you answer me pls, can I use it with mooer radar cab sim ? chain like guitar>tube screamer>kraken>mooer radar>soundcard ? i am just wondering, there is no video with chain like this. thanks in advance.
@@belligerentamateur i mean, you can’t have the exact same cab and microphone configuration as Fluff, so it could also be that and not the actual amp, as the original unit is pretty similar to this
*sigh Where was this in 2019? The entire reason I went with the Effectrode Blackbird instead of the original Kraken is because the Blackbird has a direct-out.
So this is the same concept as so much thats out in the past couple years they keep getting better and i will probly end up with one (maybe that one) as a back up for my bassbreaker cause the chassis is a metal U so when it dies its a hard one to get fixed really ive got a few years before i reall gotta worry so time to start saving
Looks like they much improved the pre-amp section. I had the pre-amp version of this pedal. The red lead channel was pretty amazing and the clean tones were decent, but the green crunch channel was almost unusable, just a flubby glubby chunk sound with no real definition. Looks like they listed to public feedback, nobody liked that channel.
Thanks everyone. My only experience has been demoing a Richie Kotzen model which sounded good but was kinda low gain (maybe that’s his bag) and an original Kraken which had a bunch of reverb and noise issues. Finally had the tech patch it up again and sell it “as is”. They seem pretty well thought out but I’m not a tech. Just my experiences.
I did not really like it bc it doesn’t have much usable gain. It does have 4 preamp tubes this is why it’s called the V4. BTW the dirt and clean channels sound pretty good but the high gain attempt fell short man I wish this wasn’t a sponsored video!!
I own the preamp and can't see anyone needing more gain than it has and one is always running an overdrive before it. Maybe I'm setting gain at none with my boss sd1 on channel 2. Try it out if you get the chance!
For $1K, I’d rather get an fm3 and pay a little extra for a SD Powerstage. The fm3 has more (better sounding) amp models, more cabs, and a bunch of effects for the same price
This is. Valve i guess that is why the price but i get it in this case is a 5150 ish amp n honestly if i want that sound well there is the peavey 6505 that is about 1.5 k or even an evh 50w i think so idk about this one but the sheriff is another story cause is a plexy n a mod in one plus the two notes thing so in that case make so much more sense to me
What would you expect to pay for a 2 channel amp with a built in two notes cab sim/IR, pedal power supply, and can be ran without a cab? This is very competitively priced. It’s not for everyone sure, but buying those pieces of gear separately puts you at almost double that. Can always save up for it or trade in/sell some current gear if this is something you think is the right component for your rig.
@@ZackSeifMusic this actually doesn't have a reactive loadbox. The poweramp in this is not tube and doesn't need any load when running without a cabinet.
You forgot to mention it has 4 preamp tubes, which is what the V4 means, also the 9V outlet is 500mA so can power a few pedals
That’s pretty cool
Or one big strymon pedal.
I think the intention was to allow you to power a multi fx unit with the amp.
You can really tour with this beauty, packed in the guitar case and sound amazing. Practical AF
I'd love to see a shootout of this vs. the Bluguitar Iridium, H&K Black Spirit and the Laney IR SLS.

Surprisingly awesome clean sound. I wasn't expecting that out of something I consider a medium-to-high-gain amp.
180 watts is a lot of headroom for getting good clean tones.
full mix sounded so good I had to go back and listen again haha
Wow, I enjoyed this review. Man, I am impressed!
They really man an analog helix. This is huge and I hope other brands take notes. Like a deluxe orange stamp
I’m on board with anything Rabea designs.
When will you be doing a demo on that Model t?
Seconded. The people demand SUNN O)))

FOH with in ears is the best way to avoid loading tons of weight, So how do you use it? Are you also using pedal effects next to it?
@@dedespedida4515 yeah mate, strymon pedals in the fx loop and od in the front
Well this thing has valve its actually a real preamp is not a sim
This is good to know as I am expecting mine this weekend and getting rid of my Fractal.

Great demo as always!

I had a Kraken v4 preamp. It was almost indistinguishable from my 5150iii stealth.

Omg a Kraken pedalboard amp!?!? Take my money!!!

The Bluguitar AmpX comming in 2021 will do exactly that :)
I don't know if it was a mic issue, It sounds kind of fizzy, and no bottom end
Through a can, it does lack some bottom, but direct to FOH or monitors with cab sim on... Different story
Ok. That mix riff was fucken nasty!!!

You can use two notes cab sums, so if you find a way of imortumg63the or, then yes.
But the two notes cab sims are better anyway
Damn, you kept the 498T/490 in the Les Paul? That surprised me.
can it be used as a pedal just into a deluxe?
Yeah? You guitarists love that small compact footprint class D amp we bassists have been enjoying for well over a decade? 😂
Not a (primarily) bass player*
BUT yeah. My father got one for our studio at such an affordable price, it blew my mind.
Can I plug the xlr with cab sim into an unpowered frfr cab using the 180W of the class D poweramp?
beast❤
would have been wise of them to make the reverb channel-assignable. one, the other, or both.
I like the sounds of this more than the Kraken I actually owned.
That’s also because of the cab

Yep! Thats what Fluff said in the vid!
Does that mean power amp tubes are not as important?
FAQ Question: Where do you get your awesome t-shirts?
I know not the same thing but this or the Peavey Invective mH20? Great video as always!
Even though i love the kraken 2 channels, i'd go with the invective mh! Cheaper, dummy load, noise gate, boost, FX loop...

It sounds like a solid state. Next to a fender twin reverb threw cmads brownie distortion would be laughed off stage. But good video
Class D is an odd choice. Otherwise, seems like a great piece of gear.
