I like how you talked about still being grateful to have a kitchen even though it’s older and not very functional. Beautiful renovation
So refreshing. Our kitchen is in similar disrepair and as much as it’s frustrating I’m so grateful for our home. We lucked out and got our home when the market dipped for a few weeks at the beginning of the pandemic. We got our 3 bed 1 bath semi detached home for $10,000 more than the 1+1 bath tiny condo we put an offer in a month previous (and thankfully were out bid).

Xander is so cute with his tools 🔧, he needs a toolbelt! My dad was a carpenter and had only daughters....we all knew our tools by age 4! Loved 'helping' him, he was so very patient!

Zander is so adorable helping his Dad and working with his tools! Reminds me of my 3 year old grandson - his dad is a contractor and they bought a fixer upper house too so his favorite thing is to help Dad with projects around the house.
OMG, I’d be jumping for joy myself as well.... I’ve been renting where I am now for 23 yrs and my kitchen is probably an eighth of the size of yours. In fact, if my partner and I are in the kitchen together, we literally walk around each other in circles as we prep our meals etc,before one of us screams “get out of my kitchen”.......lol. I’m so, so happy for you all. You are truly blessed, and young Xander is just adorable..... he’ll be working alongside his dad forever.....

Mary on Richard's phone everyone else has pretty much said it. I enjoy seeing God's blessings brung to life. After my husband passed away I decided it was time to redo my kitchen cabinets were disintegrating I'm kind of wishing I had your old ones at least they were tough they were hard to take down mine came apart in my hand I have been trying to decide what I want to use in their stead I had wondered about cabinets over top of the sink which is in front of a window and now that I see your cabinets I think it would be just fine in my 10x10 kitchen. My solution to not enough drawers is I have a stainless steel two cabinet stacked toolbox after all a kitchen is our tool room for cooking. Everything that was on one wall in the kitchen fit in that toolbox with room to spare. You are such an inspiration to myself and others. We must keep our eyes looking up and continue to praise his glory for his love is immense and unconditional thank you so much for allowing us into your life and family and making us feel like family too I wish your mother well that can be really scary for her it's scary for you but worse for her. May she be blessed with a good recovery and give your sister an extra hug and maybe some brownies.

Love the kitchen. I agree about the granite. Some houses are just not right for granite or marble etc. we live in the woods with giant pines everywhere. The house is 50s ranch style. Live the counter tops you chose. BTW years ago we had a house built and got beautiful hickory cab it’s throughout the home made by a local Amish cabinet makers. Friends bought our house 20+ years ago and the cabinets are still in excellent shape and as beautiful as the dAy they were installed. Zander is so cute and full of personality. I have 5 kids all grown. He reminds me of son number 4, funny, witty and cleaver as an adult! Blessings! PS my dad had a kidney transplant 14 yrs ago. He’s doing great and will be 92 in a few weeks. Yes 92!!!

I. LOVE. YOUR. KITCHEN! God gave you one of the desires of your heart, and what a loving God we serve. So happy for you. Both you and Nolan have put a lot of time into making your house a home, and we thank you so much for sharing with us. We trust your mom is making a full recovery. It's not easy when a loved one is in the hospital during this time of uncertainty when it comes to the virus. It's so difficult when families are restricted to only one or two people being allowed to visit. I will pray for your mom's recovery as the Lord brings her to mind. I loved watching Xander try so hard to be like his daddy. What an awesome responsibility Nolan must feel when Xander tries so hard to copy him. What a sweet family you have. Prayers for you all.

Oh my goodness. We have an almost 100 year old kitchen - it has those same old plywood cabinets and doors that don’t shut. With 25 layers of paint 😄... and peeling counters and the works... when your new cabinets came in it made me CRY!!! I could really relate to how that would feel to have a new kitchen. We’ve been in ours for 7.5 years and I’ve been making this kitchen work with a family of 10 and we also had planned for a kitchen makeover in 2020 but it didn’t happen for us. Because ... 2020 ☺️🤷🏻♀️... but wow. I was so excited for you to see that kitchen transformed- it literally made me tear up. Congratulations on a beautiful new kitchen. I know you will bless countless people in it! 💜

Everything is beautiful!! I love how grateful you are for your kitchen. To some it might be a small move but it is life changing. We are moving in a 70 year old house that has so many issues. I just pray and pray for God’s will in it all. And I know he got us covered.

I LOVE EVERYTHING!! I was actually in tears when you showed the finished kitchen, because it is so Beautiful! So happy for you and the family! was so fun to see Xander watching is Daddy fix things and Love how Noland actually lets him do small things to teach him hands on work. and when he Laughed so hard at Noland's portrait of him it was the cutest thing. Nothing like the sound of a child's laugh to warm your heart! I LOVE his sweet smile and Giggles!! I am still praying for your Mom and Noland's father as well. God Is Good!! Beautiful renovation! My husband built our cabinets over 20 years ago. They are oak, stained, but now I want painted cabinets. He's not on board. Just maybe, together, we can change his mind! I love that your son, is learning from Dad. These are precious moments!

It's beautiful!! One thing I've grown to love at our entrance is a shoe rack. You could use the same wood from your window seat and shelves to make a small 2 level shelf. This would ensure that muddy shoes and boots don't leak into the house as you walk over to your closet/ pantry alcove. At worst you waste 2 hours and an 8' piece of wood.. but at best you beautifully fill an irritating empty space while saving yourself daily cleaning time! I'm so happy for you all.......Absolutely beautiful.....I have always been blessed that my husband can do cabinets like this.......Actually an Amish man used to have my husband make a few cabinets for him on the side when he got too busy on a job. .....My husband used to do peoples kitchens, but mainly is an engineer now for a company known worldwide (Wasserstrom). He still makes things if I want something done, (entertainment center ,bench, bed, little tables, etc) but he doesn't do them for people anymore......It is good money though....I like the style.

The cabinets are just perfect and while I live in DC, I would certainly take a chance on your cabinet makers--it would be worth the wait. Thanks for sharing everything. How fortunate your husband is so talented!! I used manmade granite and it went in right on top of our old counters.....in only one day with no "construcion or tear out." I had this for almost 20 years -not one scratch, not one chip.It is beautiful still.Your counter is really beautiful and looks just like granite, I thinlk. Next to you window seat you could also try an antique high chair, or a mall vintage chair or some lovely old crocks. A plant might not be able to take the cold right next to the door...Your kitchen is BEAUTIFUL!!

The room is already so open and inviting. You should be excited and you've earned it. You suffered with that drab kitchen for 10 years.

What a beautiful kitchen. I love the design of your cabinets. To me everything looked perfect. All that counter space so grand. I like to bake but my counters are so short... no place to lay out my dough n roll it. Janine, you’ve have great taste n some good ideas that you came up with for the kitchen. I think we’re all guilty of realizing we make a few mistakes when your redoing a kitchen or whatever. You see all that when your trying to design it the way you want it. It’s after everything is done is where we see our boo boos or wish we did that. I truly envy you with that gorgeous kitchen n YES YOU DESERVE IT !!! I’m so happy that you did in white. Your kitchen looks huge n sooo pretty. I just love it. Remember a kitchen is the heart of the home. I’m so happy for you my friend.

House is great. However, as an early childhood educator and teacher, what really gives me joy is how you and your husband are with your son. You are teaching him valuable skills working with math and learning how to use a hammer and nails, and you are encouraging him, loving him, showing him affection....you guys are great parents!

My dad was a cabinet maker carpenter and those are perfection, totally solid and well made. You will never need new cabinets again. Boy I miss my dad he did beautiful work too. Amish are good craftsmen. Your lucky to have them around you. So very happy for you, love the little guy sleeping under his bed. He is a adorable. This is four inches six.hahaha so cute he is being a little man like his dad.

Your new kitchen is wonderful. I completely understand the little disappointments about not putting in more drawers, the shortened with of the window seat, placement of the computer hookup on the mini-desk. Same things have happened when i have remodeled. Eventually you will adjust. Putting a nice large floor plant at the end of the window seat is the perfect solution. I recommend you place the plant in its growing pot into a nice pot then place this on a black wrought iron "stand". I love mine as it makes it so easy to move when to clean the floor. My favorite brand is Deer Park (made in Maryland). For around $35 you can get a 14" caddy, as they are called, with a clear plastic tray to catch any water that drains from the pot. Their online service is excellent. I enjoy watching the videos showing your family working together. Thinking of your mother and wish her a speedy recovery. All the best, Susan

Great job. Your kitchen is beautiful. I updated my kitchen about 3 years ago, from the old brown everything. I painted the bottom cupboards white and had new countertops and upper cupboards made. We live in an 1898 Queenslander farm house and could not put in more windows but now I have replaced the lights with brighter ones. I look at my kitchen everyday and still it makes me smile. I hope your mother is recovering well.

Its lovely! I have an Amish made table, chairs, pie hutch and bedroom set that I ordered when on a trip through Pennsylvania I decided to stop at an Amish furniture store on a whim. It is unbelievable the quality. If you ever have a chance to look at their carpentry or woodwork in person you will be a believer in the quality. What I got is all oak & quarter sawn oak and 20 years later that furniture still looks new and is so solid you can’t make a chair wobble. It takes three men to move the dresser without the drawers & mirror. It’s not cheap but also it’s not cheap. It’s an investment in something you can pass down and you can’t find a lot of that these days.

For our home, my husband and I dream about a kitchen outside; haven't put to much thought in our inside kitchen. I guess it because, I enjoy cooking and that get our apartment hot. Where my husband comes from, people do some of the cooking outside because it is a warmer climate and we enjoy grilling and eating outside.

What a beautiful kitchen!!! Seems like 2021 is off to a great start for you! Didn't realize that your husband was doing part of the construction too! That is a great asset! The flooring looks beautiful and love the wood on the window seat!!!! Would love that even as a counter top if it could hold up. A plant would look great at the window seat, but if you see how it is right at the door, a boot tray wouldn't be a bad idea either. Love the little nook with the bar stool. When your laptop is sitting on it and the screen is up, no one will see the cord. So many nice features to the kitchen. Enjoy!!! And hope you have some kind of medal of commendation for your sister and her two daughters!!!!! What an amazing job they did! You are truly blessed, but not spoiled because you appreciate it!
