I’m glad you frogged your knitting, you have to love it. Blanket is a great idea 😊 my porridge is very simple, I do use all milk, so creamy and I put raisins and demerara sugar on the top, gosh it’s making me hungry 🤣 x
Love your vlogmas, very calm and peaceful! Your PJ’s look so pretty! Thanks for your porridge recipe. I make my oatmeal with raisins, medjool dates, cinnamon, cloves, fresh gingeroot, chia seeds, diced apple, coconut and a sprinkle of chopped nuts. Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas! 💕🎄
Thanks so much for incorporating my porridge question in your vlogmas 😊. Lots of ideas to change mine up. Also, I’ve never regretted frogging something. You’ll be much happier with this new project.
Enjoying your vlogmas very much. I have visited N. Ireland (from Canada) so happy memories on your road trips. And O Holy Night was my mother's favourite Christmas Carol, lovely version you have chosen.
Love your jammies and the cute little gnomes. I don't sew but it's times when I see things like this I wish i did. Glad you've found something new to knit and I hope it works out for you and brings you joy. P s. The porridge loo,s delicious 😋🥰
I've been watching your podcast/vlogmas for years, and I always look forward to it. Thank you! I'm American and have never put butter in my oatmeal. I make it similar to yours. Different strokes, I suppose. Merry Christmas!
All my grandchildren love oatmeal. They eat it with milk and sugar. And if some blueberry’s and raspberries are on the table they’ll eat those on the side.
So enjoying your vlogmas again this year Kate. I totally understand your take on advent knitting. I have now given up knitting them as I go. I open them one day at a time as usual, and then I plan a project based on the total yarns and their colours or themes. I like the idea as well of opening everything on December 1st and then choosing a project and knitting a ball a day as well. Your blanket will be lovely.
Love the gnome pajamas! I fix McCann's Irish Oatmeal with water and add cinnamon sugar and blueberries. As a summertime cold cereal eater, it's nice to come inside from a cold walk with the dog, and it's very filling.
I’m assuming porridge is oatmeal. I use almond milk&water, chia seeds, cinnamon and vanilla. I change it up adding in nuts or peanut butter or maple syrup. Love it anyway it comes out!❤😊love the pants!
Hi Kate! Happy to see that you're going to try something else with the advent yarn. No sense in knitting something that you will not use. Thank you for sharing your porridge "recipe". I put cinnamon in mine and never thought to put chai spice. I'll be giving that a try tomorrow morning. It sounds perfect for this time of year!
Your porridge looks lovely! I could taste it all the way over here in the states!! We use steel cut oats for our “porridge” and water, but I have never heard of butter…yuk!!! Bananas and blueberries or bananas and peanut butter in our house!!
I'm from the states and I've never heard of putting butter in my porridge/oatmeal. I make the basic oatmeal as you do and put berries and either brown sugar or maple syrup to sweeten it. Some times I will put apple pieces in while cooking the oatmeal.
I love porridge because basically you can add all sorts to it , I just eyeball the milk and water!Good decision on the project it needs to be something else .
I would have frogged the wrap as well. The first 3 colours and then that random bright blue weren’t cohesive at all. I hope you enjoy making the new blanket! I love oatmeal - the spice I use is cinnamon but I’m going to try the chai as I love those flavours!
Delightful porridge! I've been using a small Pyrex bowl for mine, but I do have a nice pottery one -- from a long-gone-now B.C. potter (Grove)...maybe I'll see how that works the next time I make porridge. I make mine the same way to start (oats and water) but I add no salt to the water. Once it's cooked I add 1 tbsp of wheat germ, a small handful of raisins, another of walnut pieces, then brown sugar and milk (low-fat -- 1% or 2%). Yum! (I like bananas or raspberries or blueberries on cold cereal, but I've not eaten cold cereal in *years*...and those fruits require a small bank loan to buy them here in the winter! LOL!) As for the shawl...well, I'm glad you've found an alternative in that geometric pattern -- but the thought of making 4 "mini-shawls' and seaming them together would give me pause! You're a braver soul than I! 😉
I love your pyjamas, you make sewing looks so easy! I should get back into it, but I'd rather knit... I do my porridge in the microwave - rolled oats, oat milk, water, desiccated coconut, chia seeds and sunflower seeds, blueberries and golden syrup on top; delish! Loving your Vlogmas
My porridge is a bit boring. I don’t eat dairy so i use oat milk with porridge oats and a big teaspoon of honey. Sometimes i add fruit, blueberries banana what i have. but not always. I love your porridge bowl. That is fab. Xx
I am so pleased you decided to frog your wrap. You were not feeling it. It didn’t bring you joy. I agree the colours did not flow or gel. All the best with your blanket ❤🧶😁
I was born and raised in northern California and have NEVER EVER heard of putting butter into oatmeal!!! You must have mixed the smushed banana and chai spice into the cooked porridge, though you didn't say so. Your porridge looks DELICIOUS. When I have oatmeal, I sprinkle plain cooked oats with cinnamon, sweetener, raspberries (or other berries), some nuts (like cashews, almonds, or walnuts), and some chia seeds.
I’m in Alabama, USA. I have eaten oatmeal since i was a child. My mother always put butter and sugar in it because i was a skinny girl who she tried to fatten up! I still put butter AND sugar in my oatmeal as a 76 year old!😂😂
My grandsons will tell you that Memere (me) makes the best oatmeal and ask for it every time they sleep over. Oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon with water and when ready I add a little bit of cream. I’m going to try yours next time I have bananas, yum!! I love 💕 your pj’s and I just finished making my grandsons and their parents their Christmas pj’s yesterday ❤Kathy from Massachusetts
I make mine with water in the microwave. It's quite thick and I eat it with butter and salt, but I don't know anyone else who does that; my parents ate it with milk and sugar. I live in the US. I don't think your Advent yarn has enough contrast for that blanket. Why not wait until you have it all and then maybe reknit the wrap with the colors in a different order?
I’m glad you frogged your knitting, you have to love it. Blanket is a great idea 😊 my porridge is very simple, I do use all milk, so creamy and I put raisins and demerara sugar on the top, gosh it’s making me hungry 🤣 x
I agree with you about the wrap! Thanks for letting me come along, Eileen

Kate, you’re adorable! Love your porridge, love your pajama bottoms and really love your choice of the Quadrophenia! ❤
Thanks so much for incorporating my porridge question in your vlogmas 😊. Lots of ideas to change mine up. Also, I’ve never regretted frogging something. You’ll be much happier with this new project.
The Quadrophenia looks like a terrific choice!
Your PJ bottoms are beautiful! ❤
Way to be brave and rip out that knitting 👍👍👍. I also LOVE❤️ the blanket idea. I hope it works out 🤞

Happy to be spending Vlogmas with you Kate. Have a good nights sleep 💤
Creating a new project you’ve never knit before with those minis seems a very good alternative. They will play better together!
Love your jammies and the cute little gnomes. I don't sew but it's times when I see things like this I wish i did. Glad you've found something new to knit and I hope it works out for you and brings you joy. P s. The porridge loo,s delicious 😋🥰

I agree with your decision to unravel (frog)
The colours didn't please my eye
Adorable gnome PJs! ❤
Those pajamas are SO cute! 😍

I use our local knitting shop The Woolly Brew in Pittenweem and they have some really lovely patterns (some free) for all kinds of shawls and cowls.
Love the gnome pajamas! I fix McCann's Irish Oatmeal with water and add cinnamon sugar and blueberries. As a summertime cold cereal eater, it's nice to come inside from a cold walk with the dog, and it's very filling.
beautiful pajama bottoms, porridge does look so good, hugs
Love that you frogged!!

Your porridge looks yummy. Sometimes I do a savoury porridge. I don’t blame you for ripping out the shawl. I agree about the colours. ❤️
Yes! Butter and brown sugar with whatever nuts I have on hand. Berries or bananas are good too.😊

I think it's funny that oatmeal/porridge is a subject of debate. Like you said, everyone makes it different. I usually add nuts and dried cranberries.
Good decision to frog your advent project. The yarn is too beautiful to be knit up into something you are not happy with. 😊

Good call on the wrap. 😅

Life is too short to knit with colors or yarn you don’t love. I loved those colors, but would never knit drab browns or greens, so knit on, Girl!

Oh, how do you make chai spice or is that something that you can purchase? I have never looked for it.
