Playing With Wolves! - Howling Woods Farm

My family and I got to spend the day with the beautiful wolves of Howling Woods Farm. It changed my view of wolves forever!

So my wife's family was coming down for a visit and my sister-in-law came up with the idea to check this place out. I was a little skeptical about how interesting it would be but I could not have been more wrong. This was one of the coolest things I have experienced and these animals were so cool up close! I fully recommend checking Howling Woods Farm out if you are in the tri-state area or if you are coming to visit. It's not far from the NJ Turnpike and Right next to Six Flags Great Adventure.

I volunteer at a Wolf rescue and preserve. I often interact with the wolves. When they first met me, none of them wanted anything to do with me. They would cower and hide. After earning their trust, they romp and play around me to show off and then come to me for me to scratch their ears and play with them. It struck me as strange how a domestic dog will so easily accept human contact and interaction in such a short time. But the wolves took about a year of very slow and very gradual interaction to get them to trust me.
The woman that runs the place has very strict rules when interacting with the wolves. No shorts, no hats, no open shoes, no small kids, photography only in designated areas. Every wolf gets time inside the house with her regularly. Every wolf is given food individually as well as communally. She is, extremely knowledgeable.
