Speed up only when 1. You know the road pretty well, including possible accident points like intersections, gap in divider, pot holes etc. --AND-- 2. You know you bike pretty well and you are confident that you can handle it in emergency All other times, drive a bit slower than you are comfortable with.

Bike is a bit difficult then scooty because all 4 of your limbs(left hand- clutch, right hand- accelerator and front brake, left leg- gear, right leg- rear brake) are engaged in bike whereas in scooty its just brake and accelerator which is controlled by hand. Moving from scooty to bike will only help you in maintaining balance but you'll have to learn and adjust to other things in bike.
