Those black beauties seem still to have plenty of tension in C# std tuning. I use cobalt flats on a short scale bass tuned down. Work well. But may try the black (or other color wrap) DR's on one my 34"s. And tune 'em down. Never have used tape wounds before.
Yeah, I like these strings so much. It works well in every tuning that I work. I got not more the DR Black Beauties because here in Brazil still so much expensive nowadays but I think in the next month I can buy another.
