5w4 here. You nailed the "needing to know the why". If things don't make sense it bothers me to distraction. I HAVE to solve it. I can't let it go. I won't let it go. I appreciated your description of the wing 4. Seems right on track.
5w4 here also. All my life I've been telling to people " 'Why' is the most important question of all because only humans can ask it" Feels nice meeting 5's, that was cool. Brain: So if 'types' are so accurate then we are not as unique as we think we are. We are labelled once again. Indeed, we might as well be a product of an extra-terrestrial entity. But why do they need us. It's a spirit distillation system. Mmmm yes. that'd make sense. I'll head back to my existential research.
Type 5 here. I recall when I was younger being completely enthralled by a show on Discovery channel called movie magic. Basically a "behind the scenes" documentary series exposé on big budget movie special effects. This is exactly the content that thrills me as a type 5. Understanding "how stuff works". I loved it... And as i've gotten older i've developed a substantial interest in sociology and understanding human behavior/the human psyche... Observing people and attempting to understand them makes me tick.
my dad: explains something for math class me: ok but why is it that way him: idk, because it is that way. there's nothing to get, you just have to learn it this way and that's it me: *has a mental breakdown because i don't know the reason why it is the way it is*
Because it deviates from the majority. If you were a turtle in a colony of rabbits. The rabbits will consider the turtle as defective, not knowing that the turtle has other talents the rabbits don't have. Also, extroverts imagine someone being quiet wanting to be alone as a pitiful condition, because they view it from their own perspective. They don't like it, so they think everybody also feels the same. Not knowing that introverts don't feel the same way. I'm talking about clueless and shallow extroverts (which form the majority of society), not the knowledgeable ones.
@InÊs CaStRo I think they explained it perfectly what it's like when you don't understand someone's views because they differ drastically from yours and people actually do that. I don't think they were flexing.
I think it's mostly because socialising is seen as a desirable trait and people usually assume that introverts don't socialise at all and are weird for that reason. Obviously that's not true but that could be a solid reason why.
I swing so much between the 5w6 and the 5w4. I usually hit the 5w4 when the depression really flares up or I need my space while I dabble my toes in my 5w6 when I feel a little more stable. It's a very interesting method indeed. Thank you for sharing this, I appreciate such a detailed video in such little time spent.
Similar here. I usually identify as 5w4 (i.e. unique, emotionally self-aware, knowlege consumer), but am so good at the practical side for work, gifts, etc. I figure I'm likely more a stress 5w6 (or at least balanced btwn the two wings).
It's very true what you said about 5w6, at least for me, a 5w6. I'm always trying to solve other people's problems, even if it's in my head, when someone is confiding in me.
I think most 5s, if left to their own devices, would want to take the "why" game from the surface level all the way down to the quark, and then try to split it....
Honestly spent a ton of time wondering what is smaller than a quark. What would be inside? Does it get infinitely small? Are there layers of depth that humans can't possible observe on an infinite timeline? How big does everything get? Are there things so big we cant perceive them, aside from the universe itself? If I don't stop myself there, I'll be here all day. TL:DR - I've been left to my own devices a lot...
As a 5w4-- I'm a researcher and I want to know the "what". I embrace objectivity. "Why" usually leads to subjective dead ends. OMG: I long to hear that my needs are not a problem!
INFJ 5w6 is a hard think.. Because in 5w6 type i live in my own mind and separate my emotions.. But still my emotions still works strong like my thinking because of my personality type INFJ
I was never big at the enneagram thing because I never felt like I fit into any one of these boxes unlike the Myers-Briggs that I can definitely tell where I fit, but honestly listening to you describe five wing six people that is kind of that box I fit really well into especially hearing about the social fives. Which I think is a little weird because I'm an INTJ on the Myers-Briggs but I do really love using my information to talk to other people and it's how I relate to other people. I've been told more than once I'm a really good teacher because I take the time to explain things in a way that people understand it especially for kids and teens. I've always believed that despite the fact that I definitely do need my alone time and my home is my sanctuary that my knowledge is only useful if I can use it to make the world a better place. Your explanation really encapsulates how I feel about myself in a way that no other person has done when talking about enneagrams.
I have tested as a type 5 and when you mentioned the part about what 5's are longing to hear in their life, that 'their needs are not a problem', I couldn't help but produce such an emotional sigh of a relief, that really just let go a weight being lifted in my chest and just basically put a 'eureka' moment to inquiries about my own behavioural patterns. I appreciate the points made here!
I don't feel that way. I actually don't consider other's needs too much. Not exactly selfish, but I am not swayed by other's feelings as much as logical conclusion.
5w6! This video really made me realize why I emotionally detach from people and situations! I always need to be stimulated with books, facts, and writing! This video was great!
Definitely a type 5 for me. I've found that stressful situations and being in a bad head space pushes me toward w6 (my brain literally goes haywire with racing thoughts and I don't even have the "processesing power" to move around at the worst of it, I just sit down and think, and yes, it's a rough place to be) and I move toward w4 as I grow more positive. My desire for the why expresses as a desire to understand the core processes of everything. For example, I have a pretty strong sense of direction and knowing where to go even in unfamiliar places because I've grown a knack for reading signs and understanding the "language" of street signs or whatever. Computers fall into a similar category too. I've found my creativity to be kind of an interesting beast. The way I see it, there are facts, there are connections, and there are laws that govern how those connections are made (logic). When I think of a fact or statement, I immediately think of all the different connections to it and can ultimately get almost anywhere from almost anywhere given enough time to do it. While it does make me prone to rabbit trails, I do find it quite fun sometimes to basically pick two random things and find a way to rabbit trail from one to another. Perfect example: from Banana to Quantum Physics (I'm serious) 1) Bananas are Yellow 2) the color Yellow is caused by a certain wavelength range of light being reflected by the skin of the banana while all others are absorbed. 3) Light has been found to exhibit the properties of both waves and particles. This is called the Duality of Light. 4) the discovery of the Duality of Light is one of the foundational discoveries that lead to modern day Quantum Physics. You're welcome for wasting 5 minutes of your life. It truly was my pleasure.
I loved reading this, although it's the total opposite for me. I tend to lean more towards wing 4 when I am very depressed, lost, feeling a sense of disconnection from reality. On the other hand, I tend to lean more towards wing 6 when I am at my highest productivity and feel a pleasant connection with my surroundings and self.
Sometimes, though, the wing 4 seems to me like a rest from the wing 6, as I get into a more philosophical and creative state and can be very beneficial. But, if prolonged too much, that's when the previously mentioned problems arise. It's complicated...
First of all, I've been wasting longer than 5 minutes here and I'm enjoying it. You don't have to feel weird about sharing interesting stuff. :p Secondly, this is similar for me as well. However I deduced it in terms of growth - stress paths instead. I think of it as my 7 kicking in when I'm stressed and I get so restless but in an unproductive and evasive way. My mind still runs fast but not cohesive or focused and my energy is low. Basically I can't get stuff done and just overthink and procrastinate. On the other hand when I'm more put together I get more energetic, confident and creative which is fun because then I become more vigilant towards learning and exploring more. Honestly, I love your take on it too because that explains a lot about how we lean towards our neighbors in different situations.
My parents always get annoyed at me for "making small things complicated" by asking endless questions about something so simple. Which is why google is my best friend and i could NOT live without it lmaoo
I totally resonate to the flipping between the 4 and 6 wing. I think the reason is because we like to enjoy knowledge from both sides. Feeling knowledge from 4 and fact knowledge from 6. When I switch it takes me a bit of time to “get used to” the style of writing. It feels like a slow gear switch. I was more of a 5w4 before I was married. My wife is a 6w5 so I use the 6 wing to engage with her more now.
I’m a 5w4 which I think you hit pretty spot on. In my test I also saw that I had high results for 7 and 8 and then 4, but very low for 6. When you started to talk about the 5w6 type I understood why, although I’m definitely a problem solver as well, the rest didn’t quite fit, while your description of 5w4 was spot on. So that answers that why of mine, and now I’ll have to go investigate what growth arrows are, specifically for a 5w4 🤔. I’m guessing it’s traits which flare up during healthy vs not so healthy times. I wonder which they are.
Hi! I believe I am 5SX and I channel it into art as an actor/writer. This helped me understand myself better. I'm always mislabeled as a 4. Maybe 5w4, but I relate most to 5SX. I don't necessarily always do art for attention. I do it to serve and share my knowledge on story, relationships, and chemistry between characters.
Thank you! Most of my tests are basically equally distributed. Few of them said my wings are "balanced". And I didn't know if that was possible until I heard you say that. I've literally spent hours trying to figure out my dominant wing to understand my tendencies better but I just couldn't. I tend to go into isolation for my "creative time" but if needed I'd jump right out to tinker things around or help others solve things. As you said.. It's really important to me to know why but also to share the why at times if someone wanna know. But.. It's also important to me to get some creative alone time to function well and explore which I think is a type 5 thing in general. Anyway, just wanna thank you to help me understand that it's possible to have balanced wings
Oh....so i'm a 5w4 when i'm young, now i'm more leaning to 5w6, because now i care less about the world and the dramas, but sometimes my mellow side still kicks in, once in a while. You're video is much more informative than the rest type of eneagram explanations 😊. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I used to really think the enneagram was dumb because I couldn't fit into anything while I do fit into MBTI pretty perfectly (ISTP) I always thought "Five sounds the most like me but I'm practical and not always stuck in my head so that can't be, but I also can't be an 8 because I'm grounded and assertive but not controlling." After watching this video I realized I'm a perfect fit for 5w6 and I've started to get more into enneagram and all the caveats. Pretty sure I'm sp/sx 583 with a semi-counterphobic wing.
I think the last part hellped me realize I was a 5 the most because I always felt like I was different but I never really wanted to share that with the world. I do love to share my knowledge, even though I never feel like I know enough. When I am stressed I do a lot of crazy things just for the fun of it, and I hate being bored like a 7. I have 8 different books going right now, and I have so many books that I want to read. I can also see myself in the 5w6 because I do try to solve other peoples problems.
Great, I love come home & closing off & feeling safe 5->4. Then while I am at work, I know I can figure things out & fix it, 5>6. No wonder I am confused.
I have been torn whether I am an 5w4 or 5w6 but this video makes me positive I am 5w6. I love problem solving and always thinking about problems and how to solve them. I am generally not that sensitive and adapt to things. I am researching everything and finding problems. It is why I LOVE programming because I can research things all day and feel so satisfied from problem solving. Human problem solving is so difficult being sensitive to it. The only part I relate 5w4 is that I do have emotional moments, but I do it only when I am solving problems and exciting about researching a new problem to solve. There are lots of misinformation about 5w4 and 5w6 on the internet, but thank you for these videos that clarify the differences :)
this video rlly helped!! i’ve been questioning if I’m a 5 because I relate to their core fears and desires but I’m so emotional and social!! i had no idea about the subtypes, that’s so cool
Growing up, I felt like I was more of a 5w6 as I focused way more on hard sciences and practical knowledge. But in recent years, I felt like something was missing, and I’ve been trying to be more creative to fill in that void. For that reason I feel like I’m becoming more of a 5w4.
Watching this because my bestie is a 5w6. Love your videos! I resonated very much with the 4w5. Oh, and just had to say, you have the most beautiful smile and eyes! 🙏❤
Oh man... one of the earliest stories my parents have about me is that I kept asking "why" all the time and then when my mom turned around and told me to stop asking "why", I immediately replied with "how come?". It's not necessarily a philosophical why, like I've noticed with many 4s (though I do get a bit of that), it's more of a "why do things work and operate the way they do" and "why do we do things X way and not Y way". I'm a 1:1 5w4, though I've definitely leaned into my 6-wing for my studies (physical chemistry). Growing up, my favorite shows on TV were the "how things work", especially the segment in Mister Rogers that would take you behind the scenes of "how [item] is made" and also Bill Nye the Science Guy in general.
Thank you! This was the best explanation of the wings I have found. All the other videos I've watched or things I've read left me more confused. Now I know!! I'm a 5w6
Five wing four. I thought I was a four because I can be very emotional but more and more I realize I relate more to the five than the four. I act like an emotional five but I kept thinking fives can’t be that emotional. Thanks for helping me realize you can still be a five and feel intense emotions.
Still can't figure out if i'm 5w4 or 4w5 because i feel related to both tbh. Anyways, i wanted to say that, i don't know if it's a five thing or it's general but i've always loved to dig deeper in things. Ever since i was little, all that mattered to me was the truth. I asked questions, like big big questions for a kid and used to force my mom to answer me lol and if she didn't i'd get super mad. Growing up, around 12 or something, i was introduced to the big amazing writer Agatha Christie, her mystery, crime books made me question human nature even more. Always had this incredible need for knowlegdge and all kind of science haha. I didn't notice but writing this, i think it's so rare for me to go a day without learning something new lmao. Other than that, i'm very sensitive, not so introverted but i can be, especially when i feel threatened or when my anxiety hits, all i do is read and take new info to distract myself. I'm also quite expressive, like i'm not scared or afraid to cry in front of people who i trust and those who are close to me.
This is very common. I does sound like you might be a type 5. But I could see some four in this comment too. I would read the thread of this video because I responded to a question similar to this and hopefully it'll give you more insight. Thank you for sharing!
You are awesome loved the coffee thing too. Keep going, what you are doing is powerful and great help. Also, don't be afraid to use your certification as you have mentioned in your video next to your name as it gives you professional credence to all your hard work you have put in to help others. Some look for that. And, you may do a question and and answer series helping people solve their issues in one of your segments. Or even a subject, I spent many nights listening to Bruce Williams on Talk net love people problems...You are great!!!!
Also I recall about 10 years ago (i would've been about 22) pulling out a white sheet of printer paper to determine the racial composition of every single NFL team by writing down the number of black vs. white starting, second string and third string quarterbacks as a response to a random youtube video implying black QB's (this was when Michael Vick was on the Eagles) just weren't smart enough to succeed in the NFL. One of the many random things i've done that exemplify my type 5'ness (if you will).
Wow. That’s so interesting. I’d listen to the 6 wings video to. It’ll really come down to the Core Fears, Desires, weakness and longing of either the type 5 or 6. I hope this helps! Thanks for sharing!
I'm pretty on the money 5w4 sx. Why is the most important question. If you ask me to do something and can't give me a why, I can't connect, and if I can connect I can't care. Especially if I can give multiple reasons why NOT to.
I’m so scarred in social situations when tricky subjects arise I tend to ask why constantly, but I’m doing it out of pure curiosity without any intent to be annoying. But I’ve noticed people get frustrated with the simple question “why?” It blows my mind when people can instantly discard new knowledge. I have to get to the bottom of it within that moment and if not in the moment, then I’ll obsess over the topic until I feel adequate with my research lol.
Hello! im an Infj and I took a test and my results in order was: Most likely a type 1, 5, and 6! Tbh I relate to 5 so its my main but the problem is I have no idea what wing I have :(
for quite some time i've been struggling with my type. i'm torn between 5w6 and 6w5 and twice while taking an enneagram test i've gotten the same points for 5 and 6. i relate to both of the types and wings and i've some research and i am still not sure. do you have any tips for figuring which one i am?
It comes down to the core's of the 5 and 6. Which one do you most relate to? Once you figure this out you'll have your core type and from there you figure out your wings. Hope this helps!
Same problem! But definitely a 5w6 after watching this video. It totally depends on what you really relate to the most. For me, I can relate to both 5 and 6 but I felt 5 stronger.
The other types: I like chocolate. Type five: 1-What do u mean by "chocolate"? 2-How did u come to that conclusion? 3-Is that a induction or deductive conclusion?
I did an Enneagram test a little while back and got a "5. The Thinker" with no mention of wings or anything like that. Listening to your explaination I'm thinking "Oh yeah, 5w4 sounds about right, maybe that's me" but then you started explaining the 5w6 and I thought exactly the same. Can you be a 5, like dead centre, no wings?
Oh, one little comment that I wanted to make: at the beginning you said that 5s need to know their needs are okay to have - something about that sentence rang not quite correct to me... I think this probably would apply to a younger, still dependent 5 (such as a child). Within it is a need to not step on other people’s feet, which isn’t really what we 5s care about particularly, it’s more about knowing that there is ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE since we fear being incompetent etc. So if I think back to having been a child and asking questions all the time, I knew I wouldn’t be able to have access to a possible source of knowledge any more if the person was irritated, so it came back to that rather than a concern for that person’s feelings (just being honest here). I think this is also why I taught myself to read when I was 4, so I wouldn’t be dependent on a source of knowledge which had energy sapping demands of an emotional nature. I’d read 3-5 books per day which is get from the library. Nowadays I have the internet, which is the best thing that’s ever happened to fives, I must say. The one major word I think is often omitted from discussions in 5 is “independence” although it can be interpreted into aspects of what gets mentioned, I think it’s an often overlooked trait which connects deeply with the core fears and needs of a five.
You hit the nail on the head with a type 5 needing to know it okay to have needs”when they were younger” it’s there wounding childhood message. Also I love what you said about having the internet is the best thing to happen to a 5. I’ve never thought of that but is so true! Thanks for sharing your insight.
I'm not certified in Meyers Briggs but I have seen this combo before. I've read that Type 5 INFJs believe, at their core, that they are worthy to such an extent as they are competent and capable. They are constantly moving away from feelings of helplessness and toward feelings of understanding. They appear far more introverted than many other INFJs. Anyways hope this helps!
I didn’t pass Algebra the first time because my teacher just said to memorize the formulas. They didn’t stick in my head because I didn’t understand how they worked & he wouldn’t explain
Im so confused, Im an INTJ but im confused since i relate to both wings. Im naturally artistic and like philosophy and art, beside that i can be aware of emotions but i'd rather push them aside and stay with 2 feet at the ground. At the same time im very analytical and want to know the reason behind everything and want a clear reason at the end. I keep digging at everything. I crave stability and structure and im a very loyal person and definitely like being "unique" and the "black sheep". Note: on test results i always get type 5 but it shuffles between wing 4 and 6 so at the end i keep getting triggered since there is no clear answer. Any idea which wing im possibly closest to?
I also have the same problem as you. The thing is, I relate more with 5w4 then 5w6. But the only thing that’s confusing me is the “over feelings things” of the wing 4. But then again I relate even less with wing 6. So I guess at this point it’s just me wanting to be 5w6 just because I’m an INTJ and I want to “fit” the character standards of the that type. But again, F*ck the “fit in” thing, I don’t wanna fit in, so I guess I’m 5w4 for real in the end.
so for awhile I thought I was 5w6, but the more I study, the more I feel like the 4 was my original wing. I teach music, am a little quirky, remember times in my youth when I was melancholic.. but I also LOVE instrument repair, finding the problem and solving it. In my youth (before I switched to pursuing music) I wanted to be a forensic scientist, and major in chemistry. I am loyal to my band groups and we truly become a family over the years we are together. I feel like I am a social subtype because I like sharing what I know (sometimes at the expense of my being awkward or seeming like a know it all). My questions are: Can your wing dominance switch over time or is it like numbers where you always have a natural tendency? In trying to grow as a person and develop the wings, how do you recommend we go about doing that? Is it my social subtype that was confusing me and making me feel like a 5w6? Also, not wing related, I could use some help vids on 5s getting out of the stress situation. I am in a funk but I dont know how to get out of it. Thank you so much for your videos!!
I'm an isfp 5w4 with an high w4. So, because of that, I sometimes become like an isfp 4w5 too, which is the more likely type for an isfp for real. ...So, I guess it's ok to say that I'm the sexual type 5, right?
I’m pretty sure I’m balanced on both of them I also took a test and I got a 98% match on type 5 and my next highest was 8 which had a 89% match but for my wings they were pretty equal type 4 being a 73% match and type 6 being a 74% match I’m an intj though what does this mean being equal in both?does that just mean I’m pretty balanced out
@@enneagramandcoaching so when someone ask do I just say I’m a balanced 5 or just to make it easier do I say I’m a 5w6 I’m only 13 so it’s not like I could tell much people in the first place but I think it’s nice to know
@@enneagramandcoaching that makes sense thank you it’s currently 7:38 am and I haven’t slept in the past two days or at least I don’t remember sleeping but it’s nice to know after months of searching thank you! :)
Hey! I’m new to your channel and to this enneagram thing. What’s a book that you would recommend to get me started? And a more advanced book as well to read afterwards. Thanks
Awesome! I have a Enneagram Book list video! Here’s the link th-cam.com/video/TFr8X5zXsDg/w-d-xo.html - If you don’t have time to watch it my recommendation is The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron. Great entry book. The more advanced one would be The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Richard Riso! Hope this helps! Welcome to my channel!
I'm pretty new to enneagram. I thought I was a 4w5, but after watching your video on 4s and their wings and then watching this one, I think I might br 5w4. Are there key differences between the two?
This is a common mistyping because of the wings. Type 5w4 will often appear as a type , because they can come across more emotional, creative and more people-oriented than other type 5's. I think it helps to look at the Core weakness of the type 5 and 4. The Type 5's Core weakness is Avarice, which means they fear catastrophic depletion if they are with too many people without having the chance to recharge, the Core weakness of a type 4 is envy, because they feel they are misunderstood, flawed, defective and that other people possess the qualities they lack. Once you figure out your Dominant type sound like you will know your wing. Thank you for sharing! Hope this helps.
Can you help me determine if I’m 5w4 or 5w6? I’ll give you some background. I normally wanna learn everything and I can be emotional and struggle working with people and sometimes organized but can be messy at times and interested in history and emotions and fields 5w4 like. But many 5w4 people I don’t relate to at all. I don’t relate to Stephen King or Tim Burton and I generally don’t like being fictional too much and I do in the end get practical. With 5w6 I relate to them far more. I really like Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, and Elon musk. I really enjoy creating and inventing things that can help people and seeing invention and innovation makes me happy. I never got that into math but I did get into physics and linguistics and programming and economics. I try to be practical and believe in science and improve myself from facts. So does that mean I’m 5w6 that tap into 5w4? Can I determine my type based on how I relate to 5w6 people more and wanna do things like them more?
@@enneagramandcoaching They were not embarrassing at all ! I think they were a good introduction to each type 😊 Let me guess... your enneagram type is 3 ? :)
Oh, wow! Thank you for your comment and to this video, because now I know what ‘w’ stands for and I'm just new to this Enneagram tests. I just learned it last month and took it 4x if it really was me. ❤ Thank you!

Same.
I would've thought the question "how" first and foremost, then why, but yeah we are questioners
Same. I cant let anything go until i have an answer to why. I need to know...always

Why is introversion usually implied as a bad thing? I was just a creative, nerdy hermit before being a hermit was required.
We're not all nerds, nor are we all creative.
Its okey to be introverted my parents judge me for not being like other extroverted kids but i dont listen to them and ignore whatever they say .
So interesting. And great self awareness!
Same. I’m trying to figure out in which I fit the most.
😂
YES
Honestly spent a ton of time wondering what is smaller than a quark. What would be inside? Does it get infinitely small? Are there layers of depth that humans can't possible observe on an infinite timeline? How big does everything get? Are there things so big we cant perceive them, aside from the universe itself?
If I don't stop myself there, I'll be here all day.
TL:DR - I've been left to my own devices a lot...
HAHAHAHHHHHAAAAA
As a 5w4-- I'm a researcher and I want to know the "what". I embrace objectivity. "Why" usually leads to subjective dead ends.
OMG: I long to hear that my needs are not a problem!
INFJ 5w6 is a hard think.. Because in 5w6 type i live in my own mind and separate my emotions.. But still my emotions still works strong like my thinking because of my personality type INFJ
Entp 5w4 here, it's a struggle which only makes the needing to know why thing even stronger lol
Ask me anything if you're curious about this pairing
I'm an ENTP 5w4 as well and would love to know your insight about this pairing
Exact same here, 5w4 and Entp. I hate feeling so emotionally detached in situations 😭
Me too i'm an entp 5w4 and i actually find that being neutral is actually a great quality if you know how to use it
I’m an ENFP 5w4 :)
...I feel like I identify fairly equally with both. Although, I think I might lean more towards 5w6 when I'm stressed and 5w4 when I'm relaxed.
I loved reading this comment. Thank you for sharing. I love learning more from other people. I’ve can see how a 5 would make an amazing teacher. ❤️
Awww love this. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for sharing!!
Perfect example: from Banana to Quantum Physics (I'm serious)
1) Bananas are Yellow
2) the color Yellow is caused by a certain wavelength range of light being reflected by the skin of the banana while all others are absorbed.
This was fascinating. Thank you for sharing. Amazing insight into the 5’s mind and process!
The more you know~🌈
I loved reading this, although it's the total opposite for me.
Secondly, this is similar for me as well.
This is awesome. Love getting insight from 5’s! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing! This is great!
Yes, knowledge is power is my motto (INTJ, 5w4)
Heck my Aquarius Moon can relate to this, I'm the type of person who is into esoteric knowledge like astrology.
You are so welcome! Thanks for sharing your journey!
I am a social 5w6 and I love being asked about something I know because sharing information is so fun
Love this! You clearly understand yourself and I 💯 can see the 5w6 with what you wrote. Thank you for sharing a piece of your story 😃
this video rlly helped!! i’ve been questioning if I’m a 5 because I relate to their core fears and desires but I’m so emotional and social!! i had no idea about the subtypes, that’s so cool
Yes! Love it!
INFP and 5w6... it’s wild ride of research and intuition y’all
Smmmm~
:) same
5w4 here, yes to all of this!
Growing up, I felt like I was more of a 5w6 as I focused way more on hard sciences and practical knowledge.
But in recent years, I felt like something was missing, and I’ve been trying to be more creative to fill in that void. For that reason I feel like I’m becoming more of a 5w4.
❤️❤️❤️
could it be that a 5 could drift into 4 or 6 as they need it?
Yes!
I'm a type 5. I drift into 6 as needed
Junkyard Santa I've drifted into both sides in my profession, but under duress I returned to five
I'm intj 5w4, but I feel I switch a bit to 6 not sure(between average and going a little into the unhealthy area)
I'm an isfp 5w4 sp/sx with a pretty high w4, so I sometimes think or act like an 4w5 if needed or anything.
Watching this because my bestie is a 5w6. Love your videos! I resonated very much with the 4w5. Oh, and just had to say, you have the most beautiful smile and eyes! 🙏❤
Awesome! Thank you! You're so sweet!
Oh man... one of the earliest stories my parents have about me is that I kept asking "why" all the time and then when my mom turned around and told me to stop asking "why", I immediately replied with "how come?".
Entp 5w6 here! Most of the people who knew me always told me i give introverted vibe
Thank you! This was the best explanation of the wings I have found. All the other videos I've watched or things I've read left me more confused. Now I know!! I'm a 5w6
Yay!!!! So happy you landed on your wing!
I was tested as 5w6 but after watching this video... I’m starting to think that I’m actually 5w4
Five wing four. I thought I was a four because I can be very emotional but more and more I realize I relate more to the five than the four. I act like an emotional five but I kept thinking fives can’t be that emotional. Thanks for helping me realize you can still be a five and feel intense emotions.
Yes! Love this! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I am a 5 and I can become very emotional when I feel overwhelmed or over-socialized
Ok, I watched the 4 wings video and was all, well, mayyyyybe I’m a 4w5, but IDK. But the 5w4 really hits right.
whoa: def 5w4. i came up almost neck & neck with 1, but the wings never resonated. TY hillary
Keep going, what you are doing is powerful and
great help.
Thank you! This means a lot to me! Such great ideas. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have both the 5w6 & 5w4 . Im also an ISTJ and I have the magician archetype. Im a sun sign Virgo 2nd house with mercury in Virgo .
INTJ- 5w4
Also I recall about 10 years ago (i would've been about 22) pulling out a white sheet of printer paper to determine the racial composition of every single NFL team by writing down the number of black vs. white starting, second string and third string quarterbacks as a response to a random youtube video implying black QB's (this was when Michael Vick was on the Eagles) just weren't smart enough to succeed in the NFL. One of the many random things i've done that exemplify my type 5'ness (if you will).
Wow. That’s impressive. And totally like a 5.
I am 5w4 INTP and this is a true story.
I show up for Dungeons and Dragons night.
"Why aren't the rest of you in costume"?
Helpful really.
Thanks a lot!
Yay! You’re welcome!
Funny I’m supposedly a 5w4, but I’m an ENTP. 🤔 (5 was only slightly higher than 8 and 7).
5w6 self preservation.... loved the video
Thanks!!!! ❤️
5w4 feels like a graphic designer while 5w6 feels like an engineer.
1:20 **accidently gets earbuds pulled out**
Yes, i really would like to hear...
Love you channel, 5/4 here.
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
When I took the test, I got a 5, 4 and an 8 in that order for percentage.
I wonder if you’re a 5w4? The 5 goes towards the 8 in health so that would make sense that you relate to it.
My ego is a 5w4 subtype social and sexual which switched through time, get your head around that ;D
I scored 24 for type 5 and 22 for type 6. I feel like such an even split is super strange to navigate.
Wow, I'm also a 5w4 sx and that reasoning is spot on.
So good!
Hello! im an Infj and I took a test and my results in order was:
Most likely a type 1, 5, and 6! Tbh I relate to 5 so its my main but the problem is I have no idea what wing I have :(
Did you relate to the 5w6 in this video?
for quite some time i've been struggling with my type. i'm torn between 5w6 and 6w5 and twice while taking an enneagram test i've gotten the same points for 5 and 6. i relate to both of the types and wings and i've some research and i am still not sure. do you have any tips for figuring which one i am?
I'ld say you're 5 first and foremost🤷🏻♀️
It comes down to the core's of the 5 and 6. Which one do you most relate to? Once you figure this out you'll have your core type and from there you figure out your wings. Hope this helps!
Same problem! But definitely a 5w6 after watching this video. It totally depends on what you really relate to the most. For me, I can relate to both 5 and 6 but I felt 5 stronger.
The other types: I like chocolate.
Type five:
1-What do u mean by "chocolate"?
2-How did u come to that conclusion?
3-Is that a induction or deductive conclusion?
INTJ, 5w6 here.... What are feelings? Is it food? 😂
🤣🤣🤣
I’m a 4w5 and my bro is def a 5w6.
I think the question is often more “how” than “why”
5 w 6: problem solver
5 w 4: problem creator
I did an Enneagram test a little while back and got a "5. The Thinker" with no mention of wings or anything like that. Listening to your explaination I'm thinking "Oh yeah, 5w4 sounds about right, maybe that's me" but then you started explaining the 5w6 and I thought exactly the same. Can you be a 5, like dead centre, no wings?
Yes it's very much possible to be balanced with your wings
Thanks for sharing your insight.
i am a 5w4 SX dom.."3:00-3:05" accurate
🙌🙌🙌
Hi, is it possible to be a type 5 (out of all the types, this is the closest to me) and be an INFJ? (MBTI)
me too 👋 finally find someone like me
@@ila84leejoon ooh, what's your second wing? 👋
@@Earendel.l I got balanced 5w4 5w6. How about you?
@@enneagramandcoaching really? 😅 then, I must be the most introverted among my introvert friend
I didn’t pass Algebra the first time because my teacher just said to memorize the formulas. They didn’t stick in my head because I didn’t understand how they worked & he wouldn’t explain
I laughed out loud when you said your name was, "Hillary" ;)
My Type 5 and Type 4 percentage is so close, like so close but I'm also stuck between ISFP AND INFP, i need a clarity, please do drop some:>
I’ve been told several times that I can’t be an INFJ and a 5w4. I have to be 4w5 or INTJ.
I’m a entp 5w4 which is very confusing considering the fi blindspot lol
Im so confused,
Im an INTJ but im confused since i relate to both wings.
My questions are:
Can your wing dominance switch over time or is it like numbers where you always have a natural tendency?
In trying to grow as a person and develop the wings, how do you recommend we go about doing that? Is it my social subtype that was confusing me and making me feel like a 5w6?
Also, not wing related, I could use some help vids on 5s getting out of the stress situation. I am in a funk but I dont know how to get out of it.
Thank you so much for your videos!!
My daughter is a 5w6.
❤️❤️❤️
I am a 5w6 intp and a ravenclaw
Don't know if that's a 5 thing. But would appreciate to be a little more of a 3 haha 😄
lol!
I fell like asperger , I'm 5 in4 I'm focusing on smt its hard to do what I should firsy
I'm an isfp 5w4 with an high w4.
So, because of that, I sometimes become like an isfp 4w5 too, which is the more likely type for an isfp for real.
...So, I guess it's ok to say that I'm the sexual type 5, right?
I’m pretty sure I’m balanced on both of them I also took a test and I got a 98% match on type 5 and my next highest was 8 which had a 89% match but for my wings they were pretty equal type 4 being a 73% match and type 6 being a 74% match I’m an intj though what does this mean being equal in both?does that just mean I’m pretty balanced out
Yes. You probably lean more to one wing but only slightly. Your more balanced. 😃
@@enneagramandcoaching so when someone ask do I just say I’m a balanced 5 or just to make it easier do I say I’m a 5w6 I’m only 13 so it’s not like I could tell much people in the first place but I think it’s nice to know
@@bemydruides I think saying a 5w6 would be easier. Or you could say that you use both but lean a little more towards being a 5w6.

@@enneagramandcoaching Thanks!
Sexual 5 here. 5w4 and 5-8 or 7. I'm new to all of this
This makes sense. As a 5 you go towards the 7 & 8 in stress and health. Thanks for sharing!
@@enneagramandcoaching yes lol, it does make sense. You're welcome.
Can you explain sexual 5? Is that what we do when we are in a stressful headspace? I’m a 5w4 INTJ female. Thank you
I always get either 5w4 or 6w5, not sure which one is true. MBTI is INFJ.
Nice video, I'm 5w6. There were short videos (1 min) concerning each type, were they deleted ?
Yes! I did hide them a few months ago. The quality was embarrassing since they were my first TH-cam videos ever 😂 I plan on making them again!
@@enneagramandcoaching
They were not embarrassing at all ! I think they were a good introduction to each type 😊
Let me guess... your enneagram type is 3 ? :)
You’re so kind! Thank you! I’m a type 9.
Is it possible to not identify with any of the personality archetypes of the enneagram?! I feel like some people don't fit in any of the numbers...
So does everyone have a subtype and a wing as well?
Yes 😀 Two of the three subtypes are usually developed and one might be underdeveloped. As for wings, you can use both, just one, or none sometimes.
I'm a 5 and my wing is 4
What if I’m type 5 with balanced wings
Yep! This is rare but happens 😃
I have elements of both the 4 and 6 wings, so... confused.
Totally can make sense. You might have balanced wings.
Actually, I'm struggling if I'm 5w4 or 5w6. Because I think I'm both... Is it posssible that I can be both?
You can have balanced wings. It’s more rare but it can happen 😃
Oh, wow! Thank you for your comment and to this video, because now I know what ‘w’ stands for and I'm just new to this Enneagram tests. I just learned it last month and took it 4x if it really was me. ❤ Thank you!
5w8 here, what you got for me internet
I’m still confused if am a 5w6 or 6w5
And i think i have 8 in my tritype too
Hey i doubt anyone will see this but how do I tell if I'm a 5w6 or a 6w5
I see you! I have a series (10 signs you might be...) and I have the 5 and 6 done...I'd give those a watch. They might help you. I'll link them :)
