An earlier video on my concrete water cistern created a lot of comments and questions. I address a good portion of them and a current update. Well vs spring. Plastic vs concrete.

After considering similar options, we went with a rain water collection system and filters on our cabin. I did have an option for hooking up to the county water system, but that entailed burying 1400' of water line and a monthly bill for water. (plus all the chlorine they add!) As you mention, plastic tanks are pricier, mine is 1300 gal and was $3000. We've been running off an IBC tote for a year, so having 1300 gallons will feel like an unlimited supply! We shall see how much of a headache the maintenance will be on the "free" water system. (not quite done yet) Glad your tank is working good now!

Great job as always Tom. We are starting the exact same project now on our 23 acres in Tennessee. The land is cleared the house is set to arrive in about a month. We lucked out and found a city water line that nobody knew about. That saved about $15 k on the project.

I took the flyer on the drilled well expense over a dug well or water storage and hit pay dirt. Our drilled well draws 60 gallons a minute of beautiful clean water at a cost of around 10,000. It’s 320 feet deep. Water is life.

Glad it seems to be working now. Thanks for the update. I think you made the right decision as to the type of system but I don't have confidence in the installer. The issues you had should be well known and easily avoided by a professional installer.
Watched a bit more of the video. I still do not understand or accept the theory that filling/overfilling the tank had anything to do with the leak. The water would spill over the riser before it would lift the riser or the tank sections. I understand the power of water but it had an easy escape route so it would never build the pressure required to damage anything. This assumes proper and competent installation.
