I almost bought one for my birthday a couple years ago, but the butterfly clasp kept me from it. I also would have loved to see a white lume version, although the faux patina (on the black/grey dial) was well done. 40mm worked for me, but I can see some not liking that as well. I would love to see a new one in 38.5 AND 41mm, like the AT. I ultimately went with a black dial Explorer II 226570. 😅
This is indeed the AT we've been waiting for! I cross-shopped this against the current Rolex Explorer 40mm and previous 39mm mk2. I keep coming back to a few things I love about the AT: those lyre lugs are truly a thing of beauty. There's a special elegance to those lyre lugs that Rolex hasn't managed to approach, with every Oyster case variation feeling rather lifeless by comparison. The exquisite movement finishing and its exhibition is another feather in the AT's cap. I'm of the mind that a GADA watch should have a date complication and I love how this AT frames it compared to previous references. The dial balance framed at 6 is perfect. Its printed minute track is a welcome departure from the previous references' chapter ring track, which I thought was a bit jostling visually with the teak dial both in the vertical and horizontal references. This one's smooth second hand rather than it having a ridge in the middle as in previous designs is also a fantastic choice. Quite simply: Omega NAILED this one!
It’s a beauty! All those polished surfaces make it more suitable for formal occasions and it will look even better with a suit. And you have to be more careful wearing it to avoid scratches.
Excellent choice..One of the best models Omega produces. Very versatile and can be worn always. I actually like the polish and finishing gives it a very luxurious look as you mentioned and yes it's a scratch magnet.
Another difference in the movements is their handling of the date; the 41mm uses the "time zone" function (independent hour hand movement) to get there -- just whirl it around the dial. The smaller sizes use a standard quickset date. At least that's how it was in older models, and the 41mm still lists the time zone feature in its specs on the Omega site.
Love the polished look on this Aqua Terra, would like to see Omega do an update to the Railmaster with brushed cases and matte dials. That way there would be two distinct daily wear options, casual and dressy.
Totally agree who wants a denim dial watch 🤮. The black and silver with the faux Pantina dials in hand sets.😝 Just put a plain dial and an on the fly adjustment clasp on the Railmaster and I would buy one
I've owned the 41mm version for almost a year and it's my favorite GADA watch I own. It leans slightly more to the dress than tool, but it works well as a perfect sports watch. I also own the Railmaster and it's the perfect compliment to it. But, what I'd really like to see is this dial on a Seamaster 300, 8900, no date with ceramic dial
They've got a gradient turquoise dial version of this that I absolutely love and will get when my budget permits. Never thought I'd say that about the AT.
The Aqua Terra is my 1st luxury watch I bought back in 2003. Worn it for many years straight and still wearing it occasionally with my other pieces in my collection. A classic piece, ever lasting design.
I think Omega just absolutely nailed it with this one. No, it isn't overly polished, no it shouldn't have matte this or that, it's perfect as-is. In fact, since they're trying to compete with the Datejust, they should also start offering some precious metal bezels. What I'd really like to see from them next is a *white* lacquer dial, that would make me seriously reconsider my next watch purchase (which is supposed to be a white-dial DJ).
For less polish and more brush, there's the teak deck versions of aqua terra already. The full polish for shades version and this black lacquered one make sense to differentiate from teak deck ones for those that want a dressier vibe.
For years I’ve said that the Aqua Terra is OMEGA’s best offering for a GADA watch. I’m glad they’re finally getting some of the respect they deserve. Having said that, cmon, $6.6k? That’s beyond ridiculous. This is a stellar $3k watch at best. 100% beautiful watch, priced 100% over a reasonable price.
Adrian, that a beautiful watch. I have an Aqua Terra green dial (only look green in very bright light) with the bracelet and the 8900 movemen. It keeps time better than any watch in my collection. Also, I get an occasional comment from other watch geeks when I wear it. I wish I had waited for the black dial but oh welll.
I’ve tried the 38mm on and I must say that while I love it and will definitely be saving for it, it was a little blingier than I’d have liked given the bracelet and the shine of the dial. So I do have sympathy for the matt black and brushed bracelet comments.
I actually like the idea of high glossy lacquer black dial....with a more brushed case and bracelet. Just a little polish for contrast. That would be an ideal AT. But I would gladly take this one in 38mm. It'll be on my wish list.
Beautiful watch! It's also very refreshing to see another brand on the wrist :) I have the small seconds you reviewed and it's almost perfect as you said. 1 watch, GADA is true. This AT and the Globemaster have more character than the Explorer and the DJ. Yes, Omega is luxury, and if you want a brushed version try the rail master, which is also pretty good.
I love this piece. While your filming is top notch, now images can do this dial justice. In person this watch is stunning. Simple, elegant and feels great while going with nearly everything.
Oh man, are you hip to the Railmaster they made in the early 2000s? It's exactly what you're describing on your wish list. Matte black dial, completely brushed Aqua Terra bracelet and case (but with a polished bezel and the bezels on the lyre lugs). It's an awesome watch that just got overlooked. It's like Omegas 1016 Explorer...Also, it has one of the earliest iterations of the coaxial movement. I think you'd love it.
This is the best looking SmAT, IMO. The teak lines always conflicted with the angled markers and hands, to my eye. The new turquoise version if gorgeous, too. But, I would happily give up the date window to have the 8912 cal with it's time zone jumping hour feature.
Hi Adrian. In this video you mentioned that your wrist size is 6.5“, which is equivalent to 16.5cm. On another video („This Seamaster is nearly perfect [...]“, around 5:30) you stated that your wrist size is 17.5cm. Could you clarify which measurement is more accurate? 😊
I have the 2518 quartz 36mm AT, which has the jumping hour movement. It's awesome and I've been waiting for them to finally offer a new AT without the teak dial. I just love the plain glossy black dial. I also prefer my 300M ceramic non-wave dial to the current references. The only issues I have with this gloss dial AT release are the awful high polish center links in the bracelet and the 19mm lug width (but the second one being much more minor). If those were brushed like they used to be and are on my quartz AT, it would be incredible. Still want one of these though, in the same way I want one of the black Tudor Black Bay METAS. Plain versatile watches rule!
I own this watch in 38mm and it's exceeded all of the expectations that I had since I first went into the boutique to check it out. I can wear it with casual outfits or dress it up and it fits well in every setting. The polish gives it a "fancier" style, as you mentioned, but I like that aspect because it automatically elevates any outfit and can still be worn in any style, plus it's able to handle spontaneous beach days. My only knock on it is that the 8800 movement is quite loud when my wrist moves and the rotor shifts, but it's seriously such a fantastic watch.
Yes I find the 8800 rotor sounds very scratchy, which slightly diminishes the luxurious feeling of the watch. Though is gets quieter when the mainspring is closer to fully wound. I'm told the noise is caused by the use of ceramic bearings in the 8800. The bearings in the 8900 are steel
I love OMEGA but it's to expensive for the line up, how is the AT £1000 more than the 300m and for £400 more you can get a Speedmaster (as of Feb, 25). Really the AT should be a £4200 watch new, I miss the brushed sides and I'd like more lume on the hands but welcome the flat dial. Also when is Omega going to update the base model PO in black, its well over due.. Great video as always.
I really hate that they made this fully polished. I understand for the comparison to a datejust but the brushing with the new bracelet would’ve been so killer!!
I totally agree. If this exact watch was all brushed, I would buy it then I would have my two perfect watches, my sea master 300 heritage and this one as the somewhat dressy option that can also go anywhere. Kind of like a Rolex Explorer in an Omega.
Agreed. Some more brushed surfaces would be nice. I have a Sinn 556 with the glossy dial and brushed case, which is a great combination. I also wished they didn't have a butterfly clasp. A more conventional clasp with microadjust would be nice. I know they added a bit of microadjustment on this bracelet but it's pretty minimal. Wrist swelling and contraction is a real thing.
The 38 mm Aqua Terra is a gorgeous timepiece and, in real life conditions, one of the most sensible offers from Omega. But, let’s face it, at $6600, this is not a GADA watch. Who in their right mind would change the oil in their car engine, paint the ceiling of their kitchen or even carry heavy boxes and washing machines helping friends move houses in this watch ? So having a nice and shiny case and bracelet, looking sharp in the office or at the restaurant for meals with clients is perfectly appropriate. While I am at it, just check the Formex Essence 39 before pulling the trigger on the Omega. Not the same cachet, a lesser movement, mediocre resale value but proudly Swiss made and surprisingly good quality.
Love this watch. The 41 would suit me perfectly with 7 1/2” wrists. Can dress it up or down. With 150m of water resistance, I would even put a dive strap on for swimming.Excellent review.
I looks really great, almost better than my Grand Seiko:P I always had a sweet spot for the Railmaster, but it seems to be one of those models that are overlooked.
It definitely isn't GS level although it is somewhat reminiscent of one. I've taken a loupe to my AT (teak) and my GS and the latter is just better finished. No two ways about it.
Always been a massive fan of the Aqua Terra. Really love the decking stripes so the ones without don’t really have the same appeal for me although in hand and the bronze one was truly magnificent. Love the small second version ones too. Pre-owned sounds more affordable for me and perhaps the reason why I haven’t bought one yet (the cost probably), is that when I do it could even be an exit the hobby watch. Something I’m not ready for just yet!
So are you getting this new aqua, Terra? It's a magnificent watch, looks incredible from here looks more expensive than what eye catches..in my humble opinion is to shiny I would love to see more brush more tooley watch, but does just me...beautiful deep black...a must be the bark and jack nato straps..looks stunning....great content as always...
38mm is a better fit for me wrist as well. But as a frequent traveler I prefer the quick set hour feature in the 8900 which comes only in the 41mm. That’s why I love the previous gen with the 8500 movement.
The "teak deck" Aqua Terra line has brushed case sides, and the black version has a more matte dial than this one, so that kind of fits your desired criteria.
I think this is excellent. They need to bring back the Railmastrer with brushing you are taking about…or make it titanium. The Aqua Terra is a more dressy sports watch
I just picked up the blue teak 41mm AT on the bracelet last month, it’s my first nice watch and loving it! I also just got a Artem navy blue sailcloth strap for it. My plan was it to be my one and only GADA watch but now I have my eye on the white dial Speed Master next.
It is so similar to the 1st gen Aquaterra that I just bought for a bargain, 36mm, black dial, such a looker. Guys if you don’t like polishing the Railmaster is a great option, stop trying to make all watches the same ❤️
I got hands on with it. I have a 7" wrist and it felt small. It felt very "round" and kinda soft. I could not justify buying this watch. I really wanted to love this watch but it seems like a lot of money for not a lot of watch.
I love it and 38mm would be perfection. Not the same, but I bought an Erebus Ascent black lacquer dial a few months before the Omega release and they are uncannily similar.
First generation black 39mm is so good. 11mm thick, great movement..And less bling and expensive than this modern one. Just buy the older aqua terra people
So did you buy it? I have the blue teak dial 38mm and it's easily my most worn watch. I actually prefer the flat link bracelet and mixed brushed and polished case. The new ones are a bit more blingy than I'd like. Also I prefer the 38mm not just for the size but for having the movement with quickset date rather than time zone function. I've heard too many reports of the time zone function screwing up on the 8900s.
Love the black lacquer dial. Wish they could fix the bad lume on the hands and get rid of the polish on the bracelet. If they did it would be my daily wear.
Buy an original 39mm AT with the gloss black face...it's everything you just described! (they also did a 36mm and 42mm - but those are harder to find).
I want to want an Aqua Terra. My issues are the butterfly clasp, polished bracelet, and better micro adjust. I mean for $6000 it just does not compete against the OP or Explorer (for me).
I see that this channel is growing and that makes me happy. I am however very unhappy with the direction of the videos. To me they feel so very scripted and not natural. I’ll take a break from here for a while. Hope you the best Adrian!
I love this watch. I want one in 38mm. But I have an Explorer 1 in 36mm. I wish Omega would bring back the black gloss, no wave dial 300M. Ref 212.30.41.20.01.003.
Looks great. This version looks more 'business' than the teak dialed 'business casual' versions. If you prefer the brushed look then the black teak dial may be an option. The flanks are brushed instead of polished.
I’m absolutely torn. I walked into the AD looking for an Explorer 1 and saw this beauty. It checks allllll the right boxes. The only thing is that I work with my hands and having the AR coating on the top and so many brushed surfaces, I’m afraid it’ll look like garbage fairly quickly. IMO scratches look much better on brushed surfaces.
I have the blue dial 38.5mm Aqua Terra "Sky Fall" which has the fully brushed bracelet and case sides - feel it hits the AT sweet spot in so many ways. I'm not a fan of the polished centre links and case sides on this version, but the dial looks deep.
This is an absolutely underrated watch. I may get hate for this, but I think it's better than the Explorer 40 (and I find the Explorer 36 too small...for me). I spent a fair bit of time with the Explorer 40 at a recent meetup, but the proportions felt off (too much negative space), despite fitting my wrist. I also tried the 38mm black lacquer AT on again at my AD just the other day. The Explorer 40 is lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, but I did not feel that way about this AT. That being said, I do wish there were a few less polished surfaces on the case, as Adrian mentioned. The lacquered dial is part of what I love though, so don't nix that. Leave a matte dial for a possible revival of the Railmaster.
We had an all brushed aqua terra. It was called a railmaster and no one bought it but great watch! 😂
I think the big numerals was a turnoff for many. Jeremy Clarkson excluded.
Problem with the rail master is the bad dials. Sure they appeal to some but I think for the majority of us the dials were a big miss.
I think the globemaster as well.
Adrian’s railmaster video mentioned the brushing in this way haha
I have owned the 41mm version of this watch for several months and love it!!!
Congrats mate. Such a great watch.
This is indeed the AT we've been waiting for! I cross-shopped this against the current Rolex Explorer 40mm and previous 39mm mk2. I keep coming back to a few things I love about the AT: those lyre lugs are truly a thing of beauty. Quite simply: Omega NAILED this one!

Excellent choice..One of the best models Omega produces. Very versatile and can be worn always. I actually like the polish and finishing gives it a very luxurious look as you mentioned and yes it's a scratch magnet.
I bought the turquoise dial 41 recently and I love the watch! The black one is really nice too but the turquoise dial just really pops!
My gloss black dialed Aqua Terra is from 2007. The date is at the 3 though. It was my first Swiss watch. Glory days!
Your piece is the best AT, just beautiful with perfect proportions!
Correct
He should have mentioned this
@ nobody's perfect and the video is free to watch. 🤷🏻♂️
Stunning! Simple & perfectly balanced!
Love the polished look on this Aqua Terra, would like to see Omega do an update to the Railmaster with brushed cases and matte dials. That way there would be two distinct daily wear options, casual and dressy.
Totally agree who wants a denim dial watch 🤮. The black and silver with the faux Pantina dials in hand sets.😝
Just put a plain dial and an on the fly adjustment clasp on the Railmaster and I would buy one
Absolutely my favourite watch currently.

The Aqua Terra is my 1st luxury watch I bought back in 2003. Worn it for many years straight and still wearing it occasionally with my other pieces in my collection. A classic piece, ever lasting design.
Gorgeous! This watch is ignored by other TH-camrs.
I love my AT on my bark and jack straps. Literally my daily go to and just a strap swap to dress up or down
I think Omega just absolutely nailed it with this one. No, it isn't overly polished, no it shouldn't have matte this or that, it's perfect as-is. In fact, since they're trying to compete with the Datejust, they should also start offering some precious metal bezels. Nah, too polished
For less polish and more brush, there's the teak deck versions of aqua terra already. The full polish for shades version and this black lacquered one make sense to differentiate from teak deck ones for those that want a dressier vibe.
Babe wake up, Adrian has uploaded an Aqua Terra video
Been thinking about adding one of these to my collection since seeing it featured so much in The Jackal on the wrist of Eddie Redmayne.
Good series
Railmaster is also underrated & worth a look 👀
Nice watch, it’s absolutely a one and done candidate.

Cracking watch review. Great jacket by the way
Thanks Steve 🙌🏻
Oh man, are you hip to the Railmaster they made in the early 2000s? It's exactly what you're describing on your wish list. Matte black dial, completely brushed Aqua Terra bracelet and case (but with a polished bezel and the bezels on the lyre lugs). It's an awesome watch that just got overlooked. It's like Omegas 1016 Explorer...Also, it has one of the earliest iterations of the coaxial movement. I think you'd love it.
I've had mine now 3 month. Put it on a simple rubber strap. Looks the bomb and completely undercover.
looks great on the nato!
This is the best looking SmAT, IMO. The teak lines always conflicted with the angled markers and hands, to my eye. The new turquoise version if gorgeous, too. But, I would happily give up the date window to have the 8912 cal with it's time zone jumping hour feature.
Bought the 41mm and it’s great! Fancy indeed 😊
If those were brushed like they used to be and are on my quartz AT, it would be incredible. Still want one of these though, in the same way I want one of the black Tudor Black Bay METAS. Plain versatile watches rule!
It will be on my list to consider
Top review
Very nice review Adrian, killer watch
Nice - but needs a plain white dial option, no teak planks
have the blue shades version - bracelet and dial are unbelievable
Hi Adrian…had my black AT41 for 6 months….still v deeply in love with it.
These would really benefit from some brushed surfaces.
Im glad I got my speedmaster before they went crazy in pricing.
This will be my first luxury watch
Personally, I love this watch. I went to a boutique in NYC and tried on both the 41 and 38. For me the 41 was better. Beautiful dial.
41mm is the version for men. Plus à better movement.
man, do I love this bracelet! Can't stop wearing it ;-)
Love this watch. The 41 would suit me perfectly with 7 1/2” wrists. Can dress it up or down. With 150m of water resistance, I would even put a dive strap on for swimming.Excellent review.
Omega AT 38mm was my the first luxury watch. I sold it last year and bought a Rolex Explorer 36 because it's smaller and easy to get from AD.
Beautiful but I still prefer the black OP36/41. Oyster bracelet wins it for me.
I looks really great, almost better than my Grand Seiko:P
I always had a sweet spot for the Railmaster, but it seems to be one of those models that are overlooked.
It definitely isn't GS level although it is somewhat reminiscent of one. I've taken a loupe to my AT (teak) and my GS and the latter is just better finished. No two ways about it.
The 38mm aqua terra is an amazing watch, I have the blue 8800 version and the sides of the case are brushed.. to me it’s a pretty perfect watch
I like that Omega got a little ballsey and framed the date window with a contrasting color. Very eye catching.
They originally did. Then they got lazy or cheap.
Knocks the OP out of the park tbh
I have both AT (quartz version) and Explorer. Love both equally!
This is nice but, the small seconds is my Grail. Nice review. Thanks again!
He is so back and looking more handsome than ever ❤ 🔥
I trust that the Swatch Group has compensated you handsomely for this aquatera advertisement.
Oh great another omega video … OMG it’s a slightly different dial !!
Definitely like it but I still do prefer my Explorer.🤩🤗
I think this is excellent. They need to bring back the Railmastrer with brushing you are taking about…or make it titanium. The Aqua Terra is a more dressy sports watch
Definitely agree with you that seeing a totally brushed AT would be wonderful. That might steer me away from choosing a Planet Ocean eventually 🤔
I just picked up the blue teak 41mm AT on the bracelet last month, it’s my first nice watch and loving it! I also just got a Artem navy blue sailcloth strap for it. My plan was it to be my one and only GADA watch but now I have my eye on the white dial Speed Master next.
Big difference in 41mm model vs others is 8900 movement has 2 barrels and jumping hour hand and 8800 movement has quick-set date.
Another difference is that caliber 8900 accuracy is 0-5 seconds, 8800 is 0-6 seconds per day.
Yes, that’s the only point I hoped they would update for the smaller versions
Omega always falls short with their bracelets.
Cool piece 😎
I’ll but it when they release the lacquer white. Lovely watch.
Same
THIS is the aqua terra I've always been looking forward to, never liked the face on the previous recent ones
It is so similar to the 1st gen Aquaterra that I just bought for a bargain, 36mm, black dial, such a looker. Guys if you don’t like polishing the Railmaster is a great option, stop trying to make all watches the same ❤️
1:27 is that some damage to the E in the applied OMEGA branding?
I got hands on with it. I have a 7" wrist and it felt small. It felt very "round" and kinda soft. I could not justify buying this watch. I really wanted to love this watch but it seems like a lot of money for not a lot of watch.
Omega's lugs are always short.
The aqua terra annual calendar from 10 years ago is the one to get
Q: "Do I want to make ...the same?"
A: No. What you want is a 2000's Railmaster.
What size is that seamaster diver? Looks perfect!
I love it and 38mm would be perfection. Not the same, but I bought an Erebus Ascent black lacquer dial a few months before the Omega release and they are uncannily similar.
Looks like you got hands on with the new, black, no-date Seamaster 300M too. Thoughts?
Yes sir 🙌🏻 that video will be coming in a couple of weeks.
The latest aqua terra is the amazing turquoise dial edition.. Hope you show us that..
The blue teak on the OEM strap is amazing.
I would like a small seconds version. This is my favorite Aqua Terra as well
I must admit, it's now ideal.
Blue rubber strap Acqua terra in fifty shades was phenomenal
Love the black lacquer dial. Wish they could fix the bad lume on the hands and get rid of the polish on the bracelet. If they did it would be my daily wear.
Buy an original 39mm AT with the gloss black face...it's everything you just described! (they also did a 36mm and 42mm - but those are harder to find).
Would have preferred Omega alternated brushing and polishing on the case to accentuate the lyre lugs more
I want to want an Aqua Terra. My issues are the butterfly clasp, polished bracelet, and better micro adjust. I mean for $6000 it just does not compete against the OP or Explorer (for me).
As always love the videos, but this one in particular I had to check my playback speed setting.. seemed like it was on 2X.
I have the first gen aqua terra, it’s great due to the fully brushed bracelet
I see that this channel is growing and that makes me happy. I am however very unhappy with the direction of the videos. To me they feel so very scripted and not natural. I’ll take a break from here for a while. Hope you the best Adrian!
Ok rotten tomatoes TH-cam reviewer lol
Red Dial for me😊
I love this watch.
