As a youngster I used to ride 13 miles to Jurby just to see the 'planes" loved it. I was 13 at the time and in later years I was told that because Jurby (from a flying point of view) was behind the mountain it was not seen !!. So it was safe....In later years it became a motoring school then a boot market. I imagine so many heroes flying to protect England were trained there. It will always be a special place

The last time I passed the Wheel was in 1955, when I was doing R.A.F training at Jurby. Happy days!
