What will negotiations achieve. They have cheap factories that manufacture for the dollar. I can't see what more American capitalists can squeeze from the fake Chinese communists.
Jobs will either return to the US which means inflation or they won't which will mean empty shelves.

The tariffs are going to make everything more expensive for US citizens. Please read up on what tariffs do to an economy if they are implemented on everything. The 20% tariff isnt paid by a foreign government but by the US customer buying stuff. Economy making everything at home isnt effective either (look at North Korea) and less competition means that companies making stuff in the US will hike up prices. Also lot of stuff is impossible to make in the US. I understand some tariffs when you need to protect certain industry like some agricultural products, but not blanket tariffs. It is a really bad idea, that will fuck up US relations with allies (they may make tariffs too), will fuck US customers (they will pay much more money for things) and finally weaken the US dollar. This is comment that shows that we, Americans, live in this bubble. Our news captures only a very small part of the world as a whole but on the tv of any other country, the US is always on their news.
Being that the US dollar is, for the most part the international currency, our inability to manage inflation has crippled the rest of the world. We print money for all kinds of things from foreign wars to things like dealing with the southern border or student debt relief to only name a few. Printing money is like stealing from the globe, not just the US.
What happens when the world abandons the dollar? The US no longer has the ability to manipulate it on a global scale which will cause the dollar to crash. This in turn will send the US into a severe depression.
We, as a country, leaders in the global economy need to start thinking about how WE effect the rest of this world or one day the world will turn on us and it won’t be pretty.

Ultimate self-sabotaging policies. Attempting to address complex issues with narrow, one-sided solutions-whether solely political, economic, or social-often intensifies underlying tensions and creates new problems. Such a limited approach fails to tackle the full scope of the issue, making true resolution impossible and leading to further division and turmoil.

US exports over $3 trillion worth of goods worldwide, one third of which goes to Canada, Mexico, China and Japan. Increasing tariffs would undoubtedly weaken these economies. Mass deportations would add further strain on Mexico. These factors alone would significantly weaken US economy; let alone the strong possibility that these countries, especially China would retaliate. US consumers would bear the blunt as prices would shoot up, elevating inflation and forcing the Fed to hike interest rate. A weaker economy worldwide would lead to a decline in US exports. Along with a stronger USD brought on by higher interest rate, Trump’s tariffs would throw the world, including US into unprecedented recession.

@ In 2023, US exports worldwide amounted to approx $3 trillion, against an import of $3.8 trillion, netting a deficit of just under $800 billion. Trump’s goal is to lower the deficits by reducing imports through tariffs. But tariffs would also weaken the economy of countries worldwide; thus hampering their ability to buy from US and ultimately hurt the US economy.

Hey Americans, why are you so naive ? Are you thrilled to pay more for the goods you purchase ? Are you so nauve ?
Di you actually know what tariffs cause ? Look up the word " tariff " get educated....
Tariffs are another word for higher taxes thar WE. hacw ti pay to our government...One example, an electric car manufactured in another nation that sell for let's say $ 30,000 USD, if 100% tariffs are imposed on that car, then it would cost you $ 60,000,, that extra $ 30,000 goes to those corrupt politicians bank accounts ( are you happy ? Well you should be, because you're so damn nauve ), so instead of paying taxes on $ 30,000 you'll be paying taxes on $ 60,000.... Rhar's jusr one example of thousands, upon thousands of examples...
Tariffa are also a type of war...
    An economic war...
