Bury FC - founded in 1885
On 27th August 2019 a rescue package for Bury FC collapsed, meaning the one of the UK’s oldest clubs was expelled from the English Football League and left on the brink of extinction.
In late October 2021 a deal was been struck that could resurrect Bury Football Club, according to its administrator.
Steven Wiseglass says the agreement for the sale of the club's Gigg Lane ground could help save the club and allow football to continue at the 12,000-capacity stadium.
Heads of terms have been signed and the new owners - a fan group called Est 1885 - are set to officially get the keys to the stadium as early as December.
