1:38 oh my god. After 2 years. How did I only realised that that's Dr. Horrible in the background switching place with the cook! That mustache really fooled me!!!
I like how from Billy's Lyrics are fast and somber to reflect him being down on the world while Penny's Lyrics are slow and soft reflecting her her being up and optimistic on the world and seeing the good in people.
it's the duality of man...sometimes you're dr. horrible and sometimes you're penny...i sang dr horrible's part for a long time but now i sing with penny
Given the fact this was made due to a writers strike and the cast said they'd do a sequel, I thought we'd get one with this writers strike. The creators even said "it'll take another writers strike to make a sequel"
Joss Whedon's star has... shall we say, fallen hard enough to leave a crater in the intervening years. That probably put a damper on continuing a project of his.
@@ianashmore9910 from what I can tell he's basically an asshole boss. I can't believe that qualifies for cancellation these days. His behavior pales in comparison to Hitchcock or Kubrick. We live in a puritanical, highly judgmental society where everyone thinks they have the full story and sees everything in black and white.
@@facemite Yeah you are right. I was probably under the impression of something must be either underrated or overrated when I commented. I still find it hard to grasp why the show is so uncommon.
1:47 I never noticed that 1. Captain Hammer wipes his shoulder where the guy touched him, and 2. Dr Horrible is in the background with a fake mustache.
1:59 - It's brilliant the way this second verse combines the two vocal lines and it still works, even though they're singing in two different keys! (B minor & D major)
I love how Penny and Billy's seperate vocal parts come together on either the same words or same vowels. It feels like the two characters are trying to connect with eachother but just keep losing connection or something idk maybe sideways could talk about it it's really cool but also fuck joss whedon
It does the same thing musically, too: in the second verse, he's singing in B minor and she's singing in D major. Both of those keys share the same notes so, as you say, it's like they're almost connected but not quite. Also, yes to the last part.
Musically, that's the best part. His vocals aren't modified to fit hers at all, nor vice versa. They're singing in two different keys (B minor & D major) exactly the same way they did in the previous verses, but it works because those keys share the exact same notes.
I think this song is a really good way to show your perception of life. I find myself singing the more pessimistic lyrics over the optimistic compliment
With all the billy In the background moments, I kinda wished there was a duck snorkel prop in the background in his blog area and then subtly we see that when captain hammer is going circles unknowingly around him in the pond

Izebi Chkoune yes he is is neil patrick harris and he also plays in how i met your mother and a series of unfortunate vents he plays as barney in himym and as count olaf in asoua
Name a movie with great songs whose soundtrack was never released and wtf, fix this now! I'll start: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, I demand a vinyl release! STAT! I'd settle for a 45 single of Neil Patrick Harris's single, Brand New Day.
I think the greatest irony in this is that if Billy actually saw Penny as a person he could have easily gotten her. The reason she fell for Captain Hammer is because he was able to progress causes she cared about. This is something that Dr Horrible missed. Instead thinking that she wanted wealth and status when pretty much showing in every scene that was the opposite of what she wanted. Instead just use the inventions to help the homeless. Hell you can even keep the supervillain stiche threaten the Major to build homeless shelters or something. Captain Hammer is going to look really shitty if he stops you then
@@dynomar11 I think in isolation it's ok When I was a teen and kind of awkward around girls my relationship with my crush honestly was a lot like that song The issue is that it's called on. @quietnerdything I'll admit that Joss Whedon is a slimy character, but he made some good art. Sometimes you have to separate the art from the artist... even if it's difficult. Only Sometimes. For example, I like a lot of HP Lovecraft stories, but the writer himself was a pretty disgusting person towards people who were minorities or Jewish. So whenever I talk about him, I ALWAY mention that I hate the man, but not most of his writings.
@@numinous123 The sad thing is he was a much much much better person than Rowling is. In his later years he was 100% a new dealer, which Rowling will always oppose until the day we all die from ASI or global warming, whichever gets us first. Maybe I just have a soft spot for people who had to live in squalor and obscurity, something neither Rowling or Whedon will ever have to worry about. (Btw, webnovels are the pulp fiction of modern times. They'll never get any respect. Except for Twilight. ... and the Twilight fanfiction with the choking fetish. But those are special exceptions!)
It works because his vocal is in B minor and hers is in D major, and both scales use the same notes. So they can sing in harmony while it still feels like they're disconnected, which is perfect for what the song is telling us about their relationship to each other.

The main thing I love from this song is just simply the clash with their lyrics. They resonate very well.
Amen to that Brother.
Felicia Day and Neil Patrick Harris are SO AMAZING in this!!! They just NAIL this song.
This is my favorite song in the whole movie. Everyone involved in this project is amazing
