There are a few fruiting coconuts in south east orlando where I live. South of 528 about 35 miles from cocoa. Pretty marginal 9b/10a climate so I decided to plant one
Thanks for the blog, I'm picking up an American Oil Palm today, and I can't believe how excited I am to have one planted in the yard. Do you have any advice on cutting the fronds when it's time and overall care? I've been a subscriber for a long time so glad to see you putting out a video.
There's a very good looking Coconut growing at the Beacon restaurant on Flagler Avenue in NSB. It's been there several years and it's gone through multiple freezes.
Hi Christian I’ve been watching you for awhile now. I live in Charleston Sc and was wondering what your thoughts on are growing the most tropical palm here. I have a bismark that survived this past Christmas freeze. So I was wondering if there’s any other tropical or crown shaft palm to realistically try here.
The Hardiness Zones are pretty accurate it proves however that mislabeled hardiness zones on palms is a problem. For Example T. Fortunei listed as 7b is pretty incorrect since they tend to lean 8a Hardy. So I wonder if that area was upgraded to 10a
Great looking! I wonder if the natural bend in coconut trunks has anything to do with the ability to withstand hurricane winds? It seems bent trunk would handle more tork and bending from the winds. Are you going to do another ride along? I miss those.
I’m in NW orlando and just found out today that a neighbor down the street has a coconut tree. I’m going to go check it out tomorrow and see if it’s fruited yet. Promising bc I thought for sure it was too cold here.
Amazing truly. I live in Lehigh Acres. Just purchased a young coconut plant. Im half scared to plant it. I think we are about a 10 climate teetering on the ladder end up at nine. What do you think? Should I leave it’s pot.
Hi Cristian I will be visiting Florida soon. The Orlando /Clearwater area can you recommend any palm nursery’s to visit and good places to collect palm seeds.
I really want to be outside today doing some gardening work but it's too bloody hot . It's 35 degrees C ( about 95 F) and it's overcast ! It's awful weather right now in Queensland !😩😩🏝♨️
Good to have you back 😊

it looks really good. I am thinking of just putting a ton of sprouted coconuts in my yard and seeing if they grow
awesome find, There's a few mature coconut palms in Poinciana that look similar. I think they're all dwarfs..
Beautiful tree

I would just keep up on trimming any dead fronds, they can put out a lot of leaf litter.
Thanks for the advice bro.@@TheCfkingfish

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
What does the septic tank being nearby do to help the palm?
The roots of the palm being near the septic field becomes a natural fertilizer.
@@TheCfkingfish Ah okay, got it. Thanks!
Is it that much colder than Jacksonville

Coconut trunks will always bend towards sun. I will try and do another ride along as soon as I can!
The USDA has reclassified this area as 10a. Probably why it has survived this long. Im also in central Florida im getting ready to plant one myself.

There are some warm areas in Orlando that can support Coconuts that fruit for sure!
@@TheCfkingfish we are in a cold area of Orlando 🤷🏼♂️

You are good to plant it there
Do you know how is the Santa Ana coconut doing?
Does it his tree yield any fruit to drink from?
I notice Maypans and Tall varieties handle cold better then the Malayan dwarfs you find at your local Home Depot.
100 pct!

Leu Gardens in Orlando and Gizella Kopsick in St. Petersburg, you won't be disappointed!
Thank you
Awesome
Can these grow in zone 10B?
Most definitely as long as it's humid and your average temperature for your coldest month is at least 62F.
I have a 4 year old coconut tree here in Orlando. I need to know what is the best fertilizer for it
Anything with an NPK 8-2-12.
What fertilzer does coconut palms need? Should you put salt water on it
I was told by a guy from a nursery they use a fruit fertilizer. Makes sense they are a fruit tree
North port is USDA zone 10a

Wow hot and overcast the worst. It’s like being in a steam bath. I live in Fl and we are going to be heading into the 90’s.
To grow coconuts
