For years I’ve bought less expensive jeans (Walmart, local Farm store - yes, you read that right, lol. We live just south of the Wisconsin border, so lots of beautiful farmland around us, but not many stores) and distress or cut the length myself. It’s kind of fun and expands your wardrobe without busting your budget. 💸 And, when I lived in Chicago, I felt much more adventurous and used to wear sheer clothing over a tank top and leggings, some fun shoes and you’re comfy and stylish at the same time. Also so many combos if it’s a sheer blouse and skirt “set” for lack of better words. 🥰 Love your channel, Erin! Thank you for bringing us all your great content, via your many platforms! 💟

I love the dress with pants look. Done it a couple times myself recently. It's unexpected and people are always complimentary. Back in the early 90's, for a short time, there was a 'fad' where people were wearing a triangular scarf around their hips with jeans and I LOVED that look. I bring that out occasionally and get a surprising amount of compliments, as well.

I always see these rules for "sleek" "elegant" dressing seem to always have a 3rd layer. That's great if you live in a moderate climate. It's April 4 (happy 4-20, y'all) and it will be 92°. I'd be a puddle wearing a jacket. Any other ideas?
The additional layers definitely cannot be done when you're somewhere with such a hot climate! That's exactly why one of my tips is to look for a look that is "layered" without adding any more real layers... I'd also recommend looking for unique details on your basics, so they have more flare on their own! Adding accessories can also be a good way to improve certain looks. I think looking sleek and elegant starts with having great basics. Don't feel that you ALWAYS have to add a jacket if it doesn't work for you! Thanks for watching! xo

@Kathy King, I feel your pain🙄. In Los Angeles, it's easy to sizzle in our direct sun😎. Worse, I also battle a high internal heat index. 🥵Hesitate to call 'em hot flashes when that overheated state will stick around.
In the Valley, we're nestled in a heat trap between mountain ranges. Blazers are typically only worn inside a heavily controlled A/C 🏥building🏦. Or, possibly serve as a light "overcoat" in Winter/Spring when temps finally drop in our Mediterranean-Desert zone.
It's more possible (not probable) to wear a blazer in 🎬Hollywood, mid-town🌆, or the West Side 🏙️ year round where they have significantly cooler 🌬️ coastal 🌊 temperature influences. We'll be suffering 💯°+F well into the night, while they're snuggled in puffer coats in the 70s🤣.
Solution? A variety of vests have become my topper of choice. Collect cropped waistcoats (some fitted, others more over-sized), tunic style (hip length), duster (maxi), & gilet (sleeveless textured style jacket option). Mostly stick with lighter, natural breathable, floaty fabrics.
My second topper option is an unbuttoned shirt or dress worn over a shell or tank. Search for garments that have classic or military detailing for interest. Hope that helps...

Great tips Erin! And a quick one for when you wear the castaners--the loop at the heel actually goes around in front so as the stop the foot slipping or flopping. Then you wrap and tie the lacing's. Maybe add the twist when there😘

I think it's important for anyone who is short to learn some basic sewing - how to do a basic hem.
I learned to sew as a teen. I do a lot of hemming - not jeans, but tailored trousers, skirts, dresses ... it takes a bit of time (good for when you're watching tv) but is not difficult, and you don't need a sewing machine. I hardly pay attention to length when I shop any more, except to think "how easy will this be to hem?"
