Nice test Martin . I never got on with synthetic hones years ago and the 12k but funny how time went along and now I like synthetic including the 12k .
I honestly think that the steel is as important , possibly more important? But these are all old steel , so must be a factor ? Thank you for watching! Makes it a two way dialogue 😊.
Nice test, Martin. I got on very well with the modern La Lune. I was finishing all my razors on it for a time because it was just a "can't miss" stone for me. I never thought I would take to a synthetic, but the 10K Suehiro Kouseki has become a real favorite also!
Hello Martin, best wishes for 2024. I agree with you about the qualities of steel. I think that everything has to happen when the blade is tempered. For a razor, the tempering must be perfect. You can read on forums that some guys manage to shave and that the razor lacks smoothness ... it's because of the tempering process. It's impossible for all hardened blades to be properly hardened, especially industrial blades. Thanks for your videos
Many Thanks 😊 , and I'm sure the steel quality varies from batch to batch , year to year , maker to maker , often only a fraction as with my ERN's ...( more tests on the way 😆🤪).

Hi Martin. Love your comparison videos. So the steel matters the most.
