Bc of how commercialized sports are in the US, the US has never and will never see athletes as American athletes like Brits do or other countries. No American would ever say Lebron is a really good American basketball player lol. For individual sports it also applies. Tiger isn’t an amazing American golfer. He’s just a golfer to US fans. Wilder isn’t an American boxer to us fans. He’s a boxer. That would be strange for the American audience bc our sports are commercialized and global athletes are fully engrained. So it extends to all countries. Luka is a great player. I doubt honestly most Americans could even name his birth country. So this entire concept and title makes little sense. Especially bc there’s no such thing as an American style of boxing. The “Russian” or “Soviet” style is one of oldest in combat sports if Russian boxers using this style like a Bivol were getting slept that might be interesting. But American born athletes BECAUSE of the heavy global commercialization of sports so early are split amongst many sports. The best “American” boxer might be a tight end somewhere in the NFL or NBA. Thus even once an American would make sense of what you’re getting at, I bet you their answer is “idc”. Bc again we don’t view athletes like that.
boxing has gone international => talent increased, size of athletes increased, skill increased, diversity of boxing styles increased, etc. US just can't keep up with the competition
I never saw Miller as the next great American, from the very first time i same him i had that weird feeling like they're pushing this guy way too much and his ego will balloon.

A massive part of the problem is the commercialization of Gyms in America. In the majority of gyms I have been to, they charge $100-$200 per month with hardly any real credentials and then charge $60-$100 for an hour of 1 on 1 coaching on top of that. Anyone who can afford that is probably not the type of person who will be mentally driven enough to win at the highest level. Many of the gyms that are far cheaper are harder to find and typically set you up in terrible mismatches to build other gyms' reputations. American gyms also no longer prioritize teaching fighters how to be teachers and pass on what they learn, and genuine skill development has been largely passed over in favor of strength and conditioning. The business has outgrown the sport to its own detriment here in the USA. It's awful.
Boxing isn’t as prominent of a sport in the us anymore, our best biggest athletes play other sports and the heavyweight division suffers. I personally don’t care, I just want to see the best fights possible.

without even watching the video the problem with heavyweight boxing is the best fights arent taking place and the powers that be are too worried about undefeated fights. Ali was defeated 5 times and is still the greatest of all time. Just fight, you're not going to lose money promoting a fighter that has been defeated before. Ali also lost to somewhat of a bum with leon spinks in comparison to AJ with Ruiz. Just fight. Turki has the right idea, just keep throwing money at the fighters and then there's no excuse besides ducking. Thank God he got Fury in the ring with Usyk. One of the reasons why americans dominated before 1990s is that they didn't rally let outsiders in competition. Yes it was called "world champion" but how many countries really competed? If you look at the olympic victories there is no domination from great americans. And I'm not talking exclusively about USSR/China, take a look at Corey Sanders story, who beat the living shit out of Vladimir Klitchko and gave a very good fight with a KD against Vitaliy...

Really depends on who's Champion.
We're just not going to mention Jack Dempsey, Jim Corbett or John L Sullivan then? Anyway CTE and decaying amateur scene are the problem and they're related. Why would a 6'5" athletic guy box when he can go to college for free playing basketball and maybe make a career out of it? Until you can solve the CTE issue by assuring some basic level of safety at least at the lower amateur levels, boxing is staying a niche sport in the US. I also doubt most Americans even know who Deontay Wilder is. Probably a lot more people know who Francis Ngannou is.
COOOOPE!XD the best NBA players aren't american either and the only reason americans dominate american football is because they're the only ones playing it
@@attysthoughts3253 That is what I think, American football is only played by Americans, there is no real international competition, the same happened with basketball until recently when Europe entered into play and they are the best today, if the NFL were more popular around the world there would be prospects of all countries as well as in other sports and a foreigner would be the best too. International sport = more talent from all over the world. Americans must understand that when they have international competition they will not be the best.
Even in the 90’s the best boxer was a Brit it’s been gone for a while dude. And plus a lot of big Americans look and take boxing as something they do when they couldn’t make it to the nba or NFL so they go and try boxing. Wilder tried out for basketball but didn’t make it that’s why he started his career late. Dominic brazeal is the same case couldn’t make it to the nfl so he went into boxing. And in Europe a lot of them start at a young age. This is why Anthony Joshua is a true underdog story. Dude was a construction worker didn’t even put on a pair of gloves till like 19 and he’s a top fighter maybe the there’s better heavyweight trainers in Europe 🤷♂️

A close fight, certainly. Did you not think Slugger was unlucky to lose against The Big Bang, when Zhang was out on his feet in round 12 of their fight?
1. Americans as a culture have become soft. 2. People are willing to go through really tough things if it's worth it. Boxing has become a smaller sport in America. Hence, it's not glamorous for most anymore. A combination of both and you see why it is what it is now. Btw, US will have lesser small top guys over the years too. Right now, those guys get pushed into fabricated belts without actually fighting the top guys or getting unfair benefits if they are matched the best. In years to come, more on more guys outside America will get pushed too and hence only the actual best Americans will fight for titles.
Boomers who cant get over Mike Tyson make it impossible for American Heavyweights to get over with the fans. I hate hearing boomers bloviate about how Mike Tyson would beat everyone in his prime😂😂

I never saw Miller as the next great American, from the very first time i same him i had that weird feeling like they're pushing this guy way too much and his ego will balloon.
wilder taking on all comers? he fought no one of note until fury came along. also the 'domination' of the heavyweight division in the 90s included a Brit being the undisputed champ.
It's been the case for years now. Deontay Wilder was massively protected, fought nobody until he met Fury and was beaten up three times when he did. I don't even count him.
I give Anderson credit for taking on the fight, but he was undercooked. To anyone outside the casual fan, Bakole was the overwhelming favourite for that fight. I don't understand how it was a 'shock' to see what happened.

It's awful.
America has had this "problem" for close to a decade now. Thanks for finally figuring it out.
Boxing isn’t as prominent of a sport in the us anymore, our best biggest athletes play other sports and the heavyweight division suffers. I personally don’t care, I just want to see the best fights possible.

It officially died when Lewis beat Rahman in the rematch. Tyson and Holyfield were a lot older at that point, turning pro in 84 and Tyson in 85. Holyfield would lose damn near three fights in a row after Lewis and still wouldn't retire.

without even watching the video the problem with heavyweight boxing is the best fights arent taking place and the powers that be are too worried about undefeated fights. We deserve to know who the best of the best is, or a champion isn't really a champion.
Blame your Money Mayweather for that. Ducked several fighters in their prime. And now every bum boxer known to mankind is undefeated or a padded record

No one thinks much less of fury for losing to Usyk. Usyk is a great fighter no big deal. We want to see comebacks. Says much more about a fighter that loses and avenges than a cherry picking undefeated. Ali took all comers anytime and only barely dodged rematch with foreman in his career. A true champion.

Modern day heavyweights just aren’t as good. Money and fame have diluted the sport. Fighters aren’t as hungry when they are getting paid 30 million a fight. With the American ideology based so heavily on getting rich being the meaning of success, when you compare this to foreign countries who are carry pride of their nation, their family, their name, it’s no wonder why American heavy weights just aren’t as good.

I don't think Anderson is done. He was doing great work against Bakole even after he got dropped. I just think he was already hurt badly and his shots didn't have enough sting to keep Bakole off of him, especially since Bakole aleady had his man on the ropes. He can definitely come back better.

@@АнтонАлексеенко_044
I see what you mean. That's mainly because the Olympic games is designed for other countries to compete. In the Pros depending on the Champion they could have more leeway to cherry-pick. Like Jack Dempsey even though he fought Carpentier and Firpo he really didn't defend his title that much, versus Ali and the Kiltschkos who took on all comers from all parts of the world.
