Can you please explain why SSB2 Mid has so much threshold work? I am wrestling with whether I should do SSB2 Mid or SSB2 Low and add a Wed and Sunday z2 ride. For reference, this is my third year with TR and I have had success with SSB2 Mid in the past.

@chadtimmerman have you had a chance to read/listen to "Breath The New Science of a Lost Art" by James Nestor? In the book he chronicles his experiences (as well as others) with performance gains achieved through nose breathing. Would love to see you guys undertake a replication of his studies with your deep cycling experience.

The talk about cooling made me think: You normally avoid cotton clothing in sports, because a soaked cotton material really can cool you down which is crap on a ride in the winter time, but if you want your fabrics to hold on to the water that you spray on yourself in a hot as hell race, then wouldn't a cotton fabric on your back not be a good idea? 🤔

Cotton dries slower than synthetics so it won't cool you as much

Interesting! I worked on my 1-min max power this past road season and it's definitely a VERY hard effort. Shameless plug to my TH-cam video of the final result: th-cam.com/video/jDcSgSPwsZA/w-d-xo.html Thankfully, it's relatively easy to improve if you've never done it because pacing is the place you can gain the most watts in the 1-min effort. What I found out for me is pushing hard in the saddle for the first half and then going all out for the second half until I literally have nothing left in the legs is the best. The first 50sec is very hard and the last 10 sec of the effort is pure struggle hahaha. Mentally preparing yourself to go all-in is also something that is tough to do consistently. Anyhow, there are many interesting discussion points for the effort. I was able to go from 520w (7.4wkg) to 620w (8.85wkg) in 4 months. Unfortunately, if I ever do this again, I now have no low-hanging fruit to pick for gains 😂.
