The Durango Silverton Narrow gage Railroad may not be the best railroad in America but it certainly ranks among the most scenic. The railroad has been a continuous operation since 1881. It is one of the last few rail lines that continually use steam engines.
The days of the 45 mile route from Durango to Silverton carrying gold and silver ore are over. The real treasure this these days are tourists.
