    I had a jellyfish art tank about 10 years ago now.. Probably one of their first models (the round one). It was almost impossible to keep up with the water levels.. I'm hoping that some advancements have been made. Maybe the larger tank is the saving grace here. I spent a lot of my week back then trying to keep things balanced.. but it was a losing game. All of my jellies shrank down to the size of a penny and vanished. I hope the company has made this product more viable in 2023.

    A 10 gallon would give them enough room to grow and less stress ables them to stay healthy will promote a longer healthy life. But need a back up if power goes out to reduce their stress.

    But one question please!
    From everything I’ve learned, I’ve always been told to never mix the bag water and tank water.
    Is this only pertinent when you already have fish in your tank? Thank you so much for your help!

    • @luisbarragan8144
      @luisbarragan8144 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe it’s to late to say this but: If you have a cycled tank with fish of any kind you do not put the water from wherever you bought your fish or whatever you’re adding reason of that is because that water may contain parasites or other bacteria from sick fish as you never know how fish are taken care of also it is recommended to have a quarantine tank to not add the new fish right away as the same thing they might be sick and spread what they have, it is recommended to have them there for couple weeks

  • @WheresThePunch

    How do you lower ammonia levels? Our tank was set up for two months, and our amonia peaked last night. The jellies are still doing fine, eating and pulsating fine. But I know they’d do better in cleaner water. We did a 45% water change last night. Still the same readings. :(

  • @warrioroflight6872
    @warrioroflight6872 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I had questions about keeping my aquarium.
    Despite what the description said on Amazon said about my salinity meter, it doesn't measure ppt, it measures ppm, however, I've found contradictory information over what ppm means. I thought it meant parts per million, but is that really accurate?
    The other problem is that I cycled the tank with blue-legged hermit crabs. But I haven't ever changed the water since then even though I plan to before I actually get a jellyfish to test things out, and I'm afraid that maybe that won't be enough, and that the crabs' shells may also be dangerous to the jellyfish. Should I put them somewhere else?

  • @KingBurger52
    @KingBurger52 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the jelly bio starter says it speeds up cycling so that it only takes a few days. Would it still be recommended to wait 2-3 weeks even with that in mind?

    Great videos. I'm curious about what you like about the 5 gallon versus 2 gallon tank? Curious if there are things you like about the 2 gallon better? What do you think are the most important factors to consider between these two tanks? Do you like the flow or movement of the Jellies more in the 5 g or 2g?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 5G is the same Flow style, its just bigger. Only real big difference is there is 2 air uplift columns in the back so you can control the flow in the tank and through the filtration a little more separately where the 2g is all in one. Both great tanks! You can fit more jellys in the big one! hehe.. it really depends what fits best in your space.

    I’ve been trying to find information on jellyfish and sound, are they sensitive to low frequency noise,
    I was thinking of buying a tank for a music studio,
    I was thinking of a coral tank too, could you give me some information please, I play edm so a lot of repetitive bass, I’ve always wanted a tank in there but I know I can’t put fish in it for it would torture them and I can’t find information on jellyfish or coral, so if you read this any information would be appreciated,
    First time here and will subscribe and 👍

    • @Zurenza
      @Zurenza 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't answer this as an expert on care or anything but Biologically Speaking, Jellyfish don't have Ear's so the only reason Sounds would bother them is if you were somehow playing music that was at a Resonant frequency with their Bodies, in which case they would....blow up. But as far as i know that's extremely hard to do and you'd basically have to do it on purpose. They are 95% water so they should be fine with roughly any sounds since they lack a Brain and Ear's.
      For regular Fish, i don't think it'll bother them much, most Fish don't have ear's and if they do they don't function the same as our's because Water Density makes Sounds travel differently along with decreasing the range that the Sound can travel. In addition if you did have really loud music playing next to them, they would probably just assume the Earth is shaking or something similar and ignore it. The only aquatic species i can imagine Sound being an issue is Octopus.

And do you advise to make your own reverse osmosis water with help of an osmosis installation or do you advise to just buy it? (PS: love your account!)

    • @ReefDudes

      They need a special tank with laminar flow so they stay suspended and done get "stuck" anywhere. you dont want anything else in the tank with them as they are very delicate.

    Would love to get some more advice! Got the newest Cylinder 5 this week for my birthday, and have watched this video nearly 29 times haha! They didn’t provide salt for the brine shrimp, and there isn’t really good directions as to what to do next. We mixed the water, used the hydrometer and got the water to the right levels, but now do we add the bio starter? You already had cycled water, we are starting from scratch... that’s where I’m getting confused. Do we need the brine shrimp before we get the jellies to create the nitrates? Clearly, we need some expert advice. Would love to hear from ya! 🤙🏽

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy birthday! yes add your cycle media to the tank. Brine shrimp are for feeding the jellys so dont start hatching them until you get your jellies :)

    • @digeridooda
      @digeridooda 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ReefDudes thanks brother! So that should be it for several weeks now? We wait? also, we may have gotten the salinity correct, but there seems to be a build up of salt on the bottom of the tank. It’s not much, but enough to catch our eye. Is this okay? Or should we get it out?
