Mincemeat is a sweet filling with mixed fruits NO meat involved. Also Lucozade was the go to for all school kids when off sick

Anna, don’t worry. Mince pies contain “mincemeat”, which is not the same as minced meat. Mincemeat is traditionally chopped up dried fruit soaked in something alcoholic with some suet, normally vegetable suet these days, mixed in with spices like cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg etc. Back in the day it might be beef suet but I’d expect most regular shop bought mince pies these days to use vegetable suet so vegetarians can buy them too. Mince pies are a sweet winter treat with a warming flavour that I like served warm with a dollop of super thick cream or, because I live in Australia now, a good vanilla ice cream.
Yes, warmed up with warm custard or with any cold cream of your choice.👍
In the Middle Ages mincemeat did contain actual chunks of meat, think of a Moroccan Tagine. But over the centuries we’ve dropped the meat and just have the fruits and spices. But the name stuck.
They are equally fine eaten at room temperature, I’ll save the custard for Christmas pudding.

I prefer them at room temperature. They seem to become more sickly when they're warmed up!
When we were kids ( I’m now 58 so we are talking a few years ago here!) Lucozade was considered medicine by our mum and was usually bought in to you when you were in hospital. Nearly every hospital bed had a big glass bottle of it in the side table.
Was just about to say more or less the same thing. You knew you were properly ill if there was a bottle of Lucozade by your bed, in an old style glass bottle with the crinkly orange plastic stuff wrapped around it.

I remember always being given Lucozade when I was sick or in hospital having just had my tonsils out. I loved the orange wrapping it used to come in too. It seemed extra special because of that.
Lucozade was originally invented in Newcastle as Glucozade as it has glucose in it but later rebranded as Lucozade but is used commonly by diabetics for a quick acting sugar fix if they are hypoglycaemic (low blood sugars)

Bless you, Mince Pies have not had Meat in them since the 17th Century. They are filled with spiced fruit, best served warm ( do not Microwave it makes them soggy) with a dollop of whipped or squirty cream. In times gone by they did have meat (minced) to which was added fruit and brandy, it was a way of using up meat (disguising the taste if it was not too fresh), the fruit, spiced and soaked in brandy acted as a preservative. Happy New Year you two and the pooches.

Lucozade was originally only available from chemists (pharmacy) for I'll people. It came in glass bottles. Then got commercialised. Its still a go to for people of a certain age when they have a cold. Great hangover cure too

Lucozade was a special drink we were given as kids when sick (vomiting/diarrhoea) it basically gave one of the if not the first "Energy Dinks" and was so yummy. It was created as "Glucozade" in the UK in 1927 by a Newcastle pharmacist, William Walker Hunter (trading as W. Owen & Son), it was acquired by the British pharmaceutical company Beecham's in 1938 and sold as Lucozade, an energy drink for the sick. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Had a box of those exact Mince Pies to myself today along with a tub of Double Cream. Done them 2 at a time in the microwave for 25 seconds, let them stand for a minute before drizzling double cream over them. Perfect quick sweet treat that has me going back for more everytime (usually until none left!)
Lucozade is the OG energy drink in the UK, it's been around for a very long time, well before red bull and the others. Best thing to drink when you have had a few too many the night before!

Originally, mince pies contained mincemeat (ground meat, to you folks), but they haven't had that in the ingredients in a very long time now. Modern mincemeat for pies like these is made up from dried fruits such as raisins and sultanas, candied citrus peel, sometimes glacé cherries. depending on who made them and a thick, syrupy sauce. Depending on whether they're vegetarian or not, there might also be bits of suet in the mixture. The shortcrust pastry that makes up the pie shell is usually sweetened and has sugar sprinkled on the top. Usually from about November you can buy them just about anywhere over here (personally I love them and would eat them all year round because they're *that* good, but I do appreciate that some people don't like currants, etc.) - they're also totally fine to eat cold, they haven't got to be warmed up because they're bought like this already baked and ready to eat straight from the box.
Lucozade used to always be something you were brought when you were in hospital or poorly at home because the glucose was supposed to aid you getting well again. Now they put on the label something along the lines that it's not to be used for convalescents (people becoming well after an illness or surgery). You can buy it in a lot of different flavours now, such as pink lemonade, apple, Tropical, the original one you were sent and some sugar-free versions. The sugar-free ones are marketed to be good after exercise but contain a fair amount of caffeine.

Don’t panic about mince pies - you can have them hot or cold and are chopped fruit not meat :) also lucozade doesn’t contain caffeine (or much of it at least) it’s considered as glucose based energy and lots of families have it when ill. It comes in a variety of flavours as well as zero sugar and non-carbonated (sport). Merry Christmas from England!

Lucozade is a really old school energy drink. When I was a kid in the 80s, you only drank if you were sick.

Don't worry guys, the mincemeat in mince pies is not actual meat, it's what's known as fruit mince, so it's actually just a small pastry fruit pie with some spices. They are delicious and a Christmas staple. Usually you do not have to cook them as they are already baked, just heat them up a little or eat cold.

Lucozade is pretty much the OG energy drink. It was nearly always given to kids at the first sign of any sort of illness. Parents used to believe it was some magic medicine. Sniffles? Lucozade. Measles? Lucozade. Hit by a truck? Lucozade. Limb fallen off? Lucozade.

mincemeat is fruit filling nowadays though centuries ago it was minced meat preserved in sugar and alcohol, but fruit was cheaper than meat and the name just stuck

I would usually eat a mince pie cold, straight from the pack, but if you want them fancier, then vanilla ice cream, or thick squirty cream, or hot custard, but however you want them, they're a sweet treat with fruit and spices. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄

I like to warm up mince pies in the oven for a few minutes(or just microwave them for 10-15 seconds). 2 or 3 in a bowl with cream on them(any sort will do, single, double, pouring, whipped or clotted) or better still, with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.🤤
I had a hot mince pie and cream this evening with single cream. Delicious! 😋

Lucozade is a good hangover cure in my experience. You've got the original flavour there. it comes in other flavours too : Orange, Wild Cherry, Caribbean Crush. There's also a zero sugar, non-fizzy 'sports' range.
