Thankyou for sharing, you are making great progress and only your 2nd oil change, Great filming, not the easiest thing to video, I would not know where to start at filming, great shot from above, I have never seen that. After many years of working outside, I saved up for a workshop with a level power floated & sealed floor, First oil change in new workshop, removed drain bolt & left it to drain, had a rest due to bad back, when I returned, half of the floor was covered in oil, oil had missed the tray, arghh ! Luckily it mopped up easily, we all make mistakes, only way to learn. Treat yourself to a 15 inch US pro breaker bar, will help shift tight bolts, but don’t tighten them with it, you will learn to get bolts snug rather than tight, new filter bolt a good idea. I struggle with clockwise / anti clockwise upside down, I either wear a watch or draw on a post it note & take it under the car. It will become much easier the more you do, as you are finding out. I always get told off for not wearing overalls, once did an oil change in my Sunday best, did not go down well with my wife. There is a channel called the rubbish mechanic, he is not rubbish, he is head tech at Birmingham Recycling Garage for bin lorries, check out his channel, he makes oil changes an art form, he has done 1,000s though
Thank you so much for taking to time to watch the video and leave such a lovely detailed comment! Filming it definitely meant it took a little longer but it means I'm tracking my progress which I think is nice! That workshop and floor sounds amazing - must have been heartbreaking to come back to find, but at least it cleaned up well! Thanks for the tip about the watch, that's a brilliant idea!
@@passengerseatpodcast Yes the Workshop floor is great, builder suggested it, I painted it with sealer after 2 months & after 12 years everything has just wiped off, other than a bit of paint
@@passengerseatpodcast The newer ones have comfortable seats and are a lot nippier to drive. This 2018 Yaris has more BHP than my 2005 Golf from years ago
Well done 👍....really admire you not giving up after last time. I switched to a spin on oil filter and have never looked back. So much easier and less messy 😊
Yeah a lot of people said that to me last time, but seeing how easy it was for Jamie in Wyvern the Spitfire is the final nail in the coffin for the traditional filter I think!
Excellent job getting stuck in yourself & cracking on with it. I did notice both yourself & your part were tightening the sump plug to start with, but then you began to undo rather than tighten, all went to plan. Great job overall. Keep up the great work. Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200
Thank you 😊 yes we found being upside down and the sump plug being sideways very confusing to start with as to which way was righty tighty and which way wax lefty loosey 😂
@@passengerseatpodcast We've all been there 🤔 The main thing is, you got the job done without any major drama's, as the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200
I would definitely recommend the spin on oil filter. Just makes life easier and speeds the process up a lot. Either way, great second attempt and very throughly done.
a couple of observations... 1) raise the car on the left side so that the drain plug is at the lowest point. 2) Oil filter casing replacement, I find it best to turn the canister when tighten the bolt.
Did well…. If you hold the oil can sideways on it stops the glugging when filling up, but why did your offside wheel rotate like that as it left the ground, as tho it has a heavy spot….? 🤔
@@passengerseatpodcast definitely worth finding out what’s occurring as something off balance will cause issues if you don’t feel it through the steering wheel…🤔
Your doing great, It's nice to see someone maintaining their own vehicle. Keep it up. 👍
Thanks for the support - I will do 😊

Love Peggy. My black 2018 Yaris is called Pan Pan Jnr. Named after a famous Panda Bear called Pan Pan.
Thanks! What a cool name! I've heard Yaris' are quite fun to drive 😊

Thanks for sharing Becca. We can all learn something from watching. The more you do, the better you get. You did a great job. 👍
If nothing else I hope people learn that it's worth having a go 🤷

Thanks Elliot! I think that and more practice will hopefully help!
Nice work👍

I've never thought about raising the car more on one side to help with that! Thank you! 😊
Good job, well done for doing it, Third time lucky. Bob
Hopefully so Bob! I've got to get the hang of it eventually!
Hi, your doing a great job. Suggestion 4 u, change ur filter first, if you drop it, it fall in an empty tray. Then drain engine oil. Thanks.
That's a very good suggestion actually! Or perhaps a second tray for the filter 🤔 thank you 😊👍

Thanks for the tip about the oil can! Not sure why my wheel did that 🤔 I'll have to investigate if it always does that!
