নেই কোনো নির্দিষ্ট খেলোয়াড়, নেই রেফারি, সীমানা কিংবা পুরস্কার। আছে লক্ষ জনতার উচ্ছ্বাস, কয়েক জেলার মানুষের মেলবন্ধন ও ঐতিহ্যের রক্ষায় অপরিসীম ত্যাগ। এর নাম ময়মনসিংহ ফুলবাড়িয়ার হুম গুটি খেলা। প্রতিবছর পৌষ মাসের শেষ দিন আমন ধান কাটার পর পতিত জমিতে এই গুটি খেলা উদযাপন হয়। এই খেলার উদ্ভব সম্পর্কে নানা জনের কাছে নানা মতের গুঞ্জন শোনা যায়। মূলত এই গুটি খেলার উদ্ভব হয় ২৬২ বছর পূর্বে। তৎকালীন সময়ে মুক্তাগাছার রাজা শশীকান্ত ও ত্রিশাল বৈলরের রাজা হেমচন্দ্র রায়ের মধ্যে জমির পরিমাপ নিয়ে বিবাদ সৃষ্টি হয়। কোন উপায়ান্তর না পেয়ে এই দ্বন্দ্ব নিরসনের জন্য এই গুটি খেলার আশ্রয় নেয়া হয়। সেই থেকে এই খেলার প্রচলন আজ অবধি চলমান রয়েছে। বর্তমানে খেলাটি ময়মনসিংহের ফুলবাড়ীয়া উপজেলার ৪নং বালিয়ান ইউনিয়নের তেলীগ্রামের বরইআটার পতিত জমিতে শুরুর সাথে সাথে হাজার হাজার মানুষের সমাগম হয়। উত্তর দক্ষিণ পূর্ব ও পশ্চিমের খেলোয়াড়রা দলবদ্ধভাবে তাদের নিশানার দিকে গুটি নিতে চেষ্টা করে। না লুকানো পর্যন্ত এ খেলা দিনরাত চলতে থাকে। শোনা যায় পূর্বে এ খেলা ৩ থেকে ৪ দিন পর্যন্তও চলেছে। এই দিনকে কেন্দ্র করে আশেপাশে কয়েক গ্রামের মধ্যে উৎসবের আমেজ বিরাজ করে। আত্মীয়স্বজনদের দাওয়াত, শীতের পিঠা সহ বাহারি খাবারের আয়োজন ও জাঁকজমকপূর্ণ মেলা বসে। এবারের এ গুটি খেলাটি ২৬২ বারের মত উদযাপন হচ্ছে। বর্তমানে পরিবেশনযোগ্য বাংলাদেশের ঐতিহ্যবাহী খেলাগুলোর মধ্যে এ হুমগুটি খেলাকেই সর্বাধিক পুরনো বলা যায়। অনেক সময় এ গুটি খেলার জন্য অনেক ফসল বিনষ্ট হয়। এতদ্বসত্ত্বেও এই ঐতিহ্য রক্ষার জন্য এলাকাঁবাসী তা সাদরে মেনে নেয়। সংশ্লিষ্ট গ্রামবাসীর চাওয়া এ খেলা বহুযুগ যাবৎ প্রবাহমান থাকুক।
No specific players, no referees, no boundaries or prizes. There is a wave of millions of people, people from a few districts have gathered and made immense sacrifices to protect the heritage. Its name is Mymensingh fulbaria Hum Guti Game. The last day of the month of Pouch every year this Guti Game is celebrated in the fallow land after harvesting aman paddy.
There are many rumors about the origin of this game.
Originally this hum guti game originated 262 years ago. At that time there was a dispute between Shashikanta, the king of Muktagachha, and Hemchandra Roy, the king of Trishal Bailar, over the measurement of land. The game was resorted to to resolve the conflict without any recourse. This game has been in vogue ever since.
Currently the game is in Mymensingh It started on the fallow land of Boriata in Telegram of Balian Union No. 4 of Fulbaria Upazila and at the same time thousands of people gathered. Players from the North, South East and West try to take the ball towards their target in groups. The game continues day and night until it is hidden. It is heard that this game has been going on for 3 to 4 days before.
On this day, a festive mood prevails in a few nearby villages. Invitations to relatives, arrangement of winter meals including variety food and lavish fairs are held.
This time the game is being celebrated 262 times. Hum guti is one of the oldest traditional games in Bangladesh. Many times many crops are destroyed for playing in the Hum Guti gane. Despite this, the people of the area accept it to protect this tradition. Let this game be desired by the concerned villagers for many centuries.
