I bought a 1989 Team edition xt original the same color scheme for 30.00 a few years ago at a garage sale. Barely ridden. What a great find. Ride it often and really enjoy it. Also have a highly modified 1996 M2 Pro Edition first owner that I raced back in the day that I still ride too! I really like Specialized products. My first wife worked at Specialized in Morgan Hill, CA in the early 90’s ? She inherited my 93 Stumpjumper FSR in the divorce settlement. She won’t consider selling it back to me. Those early days were great times in MTB history. 😊
Nice video ! looks like my bike 89 Stumpy. I changed out my crankset to a one piece, new rims and tires, seat and brake pads. The Deore components I left,I really like Deore . i think it shifts like the 105's I used to have. RD-MT62 rear and FD-MT62 front . My sweet 1st Stumpy got stolen, had to find another one !!! Frames are great and you can make any kind of bike from them . mountain, road, gravel, etc.Turn and Burn 🔥⚡
Nice job. That's a cool old specialized. Interesting to see the process of dishing/trueing the wheel. I'm hoping the customer replaced that tatty saddle when they got the bike back! 🙈🙈
That rear wheel does not seem to be original. I recall having GX23 rims on my '89 Stumpjumper Comp (one down from the Team model). That rear derailleur looks original. Too bad I upgraded my bike and most of the original components are gone. I still have the original cranks on my bike including the Bio-Pace rings.

Had on just like it full xt. Then I painted it and did a splatter paint finish on it. I was not even high. I regret that big time but sold it still.
What do you use to clean out the old grease from the hubs?
I use White Lightning Clean Streak.
@@GringineerCycles how do you wash away any remaining degreaser so that it doesn’t affect the new grease? Soap and water?
@@LaserrSharp that's one of the benefits of clean streak it dries quickly and leaves no residue so no clean up needed.
@@GringineerCycles Very cool. Thanks for the info.
