My car keeps going into limp mode. Sometimes the engine turns off while driving especial if the car is warmed up and driving it on inclined roads where it need more power. Can this be caused by bad glow plugs? because one of my mechanic said it was injectors, i changed it, it does the same thing. it Audi A4 quattro allroad.
@@danmegoutdoors8709 hey bruv, same issue here. did you change all plugs or is it just one plug? im also new to diesel and just bought one. mine is older, an 09. and the light comes on when i start but goes away after and i do feel loss of power a lil.
Need to check the voltage across each connector when the ignition is turned on. Should check immediately as it only gives out voltage for certain seconds and goes off...
@@basilistitieh5862i think there is a difference between the glow plugs and the glow plugs indicator that shows in the dashboard. It you see a blinking yellow glow plug indicator that means you have an issue in the engine management system. You need a scan tool to see the error details.
In some vehicles, glow plug light stands for engine malfunction light...might want to scan for codes. If your vehicle is not cranking at all, then the possible causes are, bad battery or loose terminals, broken contacts, bad relays, blown fuses etc
Is this related to Vaccum sensors by any chance? Because I'm told that I'm getting this error and power goes down and there is black smoke due to vaccum sensors issue. Pls help me here
Don't think glow plugs can cause the issue. but if the vacuum solenoid is busted, most cars with vacuum actuated egr n turbos may experience power loss.
useful information. Thanks

Sounds more like a fuel supply issue, I’d get your fuel pump checked, I’ve had this issue with my a3 and turned out to be a bad fuel pump
Check ur MAP/MAF sensor they cause a lot of problems this being one but mine would just randomly die in idle
@@jtplays1857 second that.
my glow plug light flashes for about 20 seconds when first firing up the engine then goes off, im new to diesel so is this normal
That means you have a bad glow plug. Glow plug light may lit up for few seconds like 2 or 3 and should go off even before starting the engine.
@@autoinfogroup1629 thanks for your help, its going to the dealership tomorrow to get sorted
If its an old vehicle it's normal for it to stay on longer when starting the engine
@@derricksiame83 its a 2015, and all sorted now, new glowplug and im happy again

May I by pass a broken glow plug or it's gonna go in limp mode?
I had a pd130 that run on 3 glow plugs for years , once it warms up it fires as normal😅
𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕞𝕠𝕤𝕞 😃
What?
Heavy black smoke on acceleration is more likely to be the turbo not spooling up, really doubt glow plugs would cause that.
but it happens on non turbo diesels too. 🤣
Modern diesels rely on glow plugs for more than just cold starts so it’s possible.
I wonder if running the hot air from heat gun directly into air intake would work while turning over the motor, just a thought.
Could just try but..dont expect any wonders...
Vauxhall astra, car and spanner symbol on dash and random hesitation when driving?
Its engine malfunction light...you might want to scan the engine for trouble codes to point out the issue.
Thanks for the information.. in my case it was the harness to glow plugs
how to do test the harness? i replaced the bad glow plug, 500 miles later the light came on again for the same glow plug
