    Billy Zane played a great bad guy. The scene when he turns over the table and throws it was ad- libbed. It wasn't in the script for him to do it...he just decided to do it during take as he thought it would add more drama to the scene. He was right...It made the audience hate him more.

    That was actually Kate and Leo's first scene they filmed together. So the initial awkwardness between them was genuine.

    For older Rose more than a nostalgic memory it was relieving a very traumatic experience and that's one of the many reasons she told the crew the story, since they were looking for the diamonds but as many treasure hunters overlooked that they were messing with the graveyard of a very sad human tragedy, and that the survivors and dead of the Titanic were real people, not just a legend or names in a book.

    Director James Cameron was a bona fide deep-sea explorer who actually visited the Titanic himself and helped design a robot to probe its contents before he made the movie. Some of the undersea footage is real. Cameron also did Jack's sketches. Don't think he had Kate Winslet pose nude for him though.

    Rose's note to Cal said: "Darling, now you can keep us both in your safe." She meant both herself, only as a drawing, and the diamond that was in the safe as well as the drawing. She meant that he only treasured her for the value of her name in Philadelphia high society, not unlike how he only treasured the diamond for its monetary worth. Now, with a drawing of her, he can keep them both locked up as prisoners in his safe, while the real Rose will run free from now on...with Jack.

    I remember being heartbroken because i had found out my parents and my sister went to Cinema to watch the movie. We finally were able to buy tickets after months of waiting. The movie was so popular it stayed in cinema for a long time. They went without me, while they fully knew '' I was the true Titanic fan''. They told me there was age restriction, but in actually they just left me out because i was young. I'm 32 years old and will always remember, the next day the Theater mysteriously caught in fire and was entirely destructed. Nobody was hurt and i think on guy was arrested. Would i dare say it made me feel a bit better? Hahaha Kinda. My Aunt later brought me to see it in another City with a HUGE screen. What an experience to see it on a large scale.

    Prepare for one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, cause THIS film is the only film that has ever made tear up in my life. Also another there’s so many lines in this film that foreshadow the sinking, for example when Bruce ismay said: “ this maiden Voyage of Titanic must make headlines.” You just think: “oh it will, just not what you expect.”
    Also the Olympic class Liners? Beautiful ships, three were built, only one of them stayed in service for more then a year. Titanic: everyone knows what happened. Olympic: did her maydan Voyage service in WW1 as a troop ship, did the rest of her service as a liner and scrapped in 1936, and last but not least britannic: finished just after the outbreak of WW1 turned into a hospital ship, hit a mine and sank in the Mediterranean Sea. Overall love titanic and her sister ships.

    13:42 That scene was held up as an example of the effort to make the film as historically accurate as possible. The lady in the background as is,ay and smith chat…during the inquiries etc, ismay was asked if he had discussed operation of the ship with the captain…a violation of maritime law, ismay said he didn’t, and the lady (who survived) came forward
    Cameron had every possible bit of testimony poured over and where there were no scenes that included the made up characters, they used the testimony as the bible
    As such, one of my ancestors is portrayed, a crew member on a lifeboat was shown to be trying to hold a group of men back from a lifeboat using the detachable tiller arm. Can’t recall name off top of my head, but the one where 5th officer Lowe shouts to “get back the lot of you” before firing shots out over the water.
    Due to my paternal grandfathers immigration from England to Australia, and not having the strongest bond with his own father, plus the time, we (my family) aren’t entirely sure as to which exact relation he was, wether that sailor was my grandfathers grandfather, or grandfathers great uncle…

    • @gokulgopan4397
      @gokulgopan4397 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think it was a maritime violation
      Besides, only the conversation was true. The context was falsely portrayed in the movie.
      From Elizabeth lines' testimony, Ismay analysed and discussed about Titanic's perfomance and compared it to Olympic. He saw the performance and calculated TITANIC would reach earlier than planned and that Titanic would beat Olympic's crossing time she made on her maiden voyage. He planned for a speed test to be conducted on April 15 afternoon or next day morning. But the last boilers weren't even lit, and he never forced the captain.

      @@gokulgopan4397 according to the wording used in the special features, all I said was that Ismay had been asked if he had ever discussed operation of the ship with the captain, he said he hadn’t, the other lady mentioned that chat, context sadly is one of those things analysed in hindsight when disasters happen

    Most ships back then were built with steel rivets, the Titanic used steel and iron. In the bow, where the Titanic hit the iceberg, weaker iron rivets were used which is what caused it to sink.

    • @gokulgopan4397
      @gokulgopan4397 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most ships used both steel and iron rivets. Wrought iron rivets on the curves at bow and stern where hydraulic riveting machines couldn't reach, rest with steel.
      Iceberg impact at 21½ knots itself is more than enough to pop out those rivets.
      Olympic was built with the same materials, same way. She survived 3 major collisions, one of them being ramming and sinking a u-boat. Olympic had very little to no hull maintenance throughout her lifetime.

    27:00 Interesting fact : If the ship had crashed directly into an iceberg, it would probably have killed some of the crew., but she would have remained afloat . Also , reverse engines was probably the worst idea that night , because the rudder was dependent on the flow of water from the middle propeller , which was driven by a turbine that did not allow reverse thrust , so the ship's ability to maneuver was severely limited .

    27:00 another film (two part made for TV movie) showed a different aspect of dialogue between the captain and lightoller.
    “You violated the cardinal rule of maritime safety, never turn your broad side to danger, and not only did you stop your engines, you REVERSED THEM! She’d have turned much more quickly the greater the forward motion”
    This is one of two alternatives widely discussed, and showing in hindesight would have been better
    1 - full reverse, but don’t change direction, the bow strikes the berg head on, moving at that speed it would be quite a jolt forward, comparable to a medium impact at traffic lights in a car, but the forward section, maybe the second be damaged, but ship stays afloat perfectly fine
    2 - turn helm hard over, but do not adjust speed, the greater forward motion and the central propeller pushing more water over the rudder (as in reverse only the side props turned) and therefore the ship turns enough to avoid the collision altogether

    We take for granted the notion of wheel, accelerator, brake and clutch pedals…
    I was fortunate in my schools shop class, the auto teacher did it for the love of working and teaching, and had reached the point where he could have retired…he was a collector of older cars and parts thereof…I was truly blessed that his final year before retiring, he’d sourced and found all the parts required, and the class that year worked together refurbishing all the parts needed to build an entire working 1909 T-model Ford.

    For me the great role is Mr. Andrews. The most tragic one , that designed Titanic from the keel and made sure Her death!!

    Jack was just using an excuse to get past lice inspection, since he and Fabrizio were late. He said that they were both Americans, which was not true, because Fabrizio is Italian. He hoped that the officer would just let them in since Americans were supposedly less likely to have lice, and the officer must have been in a good mood or too busy, so what the heck, he let them in.
    There were people from many countries represented: immigrants from all over who stopped in the UK to catch a ship to America, immigrants from the UK itself, and many people from Ireland, as well. There were also tourists from the UK and Europe visiting America, and of course there were many Americans returning home from a trip to Europe, Asia, or Africa. The American and European travelers onboard tended to be on the wealthy side, since they were able to afford trips to other countries, so they sailed first or second class, while the new immigrants (many from Europe, as well) to America tended to be poor at that time, naturally, so they sailed as third class or "steerage".

I watched it I came out and I went back in and bought another ticket to Titanic twice in a row. why, cuz I cried my ass off the first time around and I wanted to see it again And I did yep of I cried my eyes out. so don't be embarrassed about crying. if it's not a good script you're not going to cry. Love you ladies You're awesome ❤️💚☘️

But, I'm not ridiculing her, I am happy she has such a loving heart of gold.

    It's based on a true story except for the main characters and their story. Rose, Jack, Fabrizio, Hockley, Ruth, Lovejoy, Trudy, Brock, Lizzy, Lewis, Tommy, and others are fictional. The main officers of the ship are based on real people, though.

    In 1912 the amount of life boats on a ship was determined by the tonnage of the ship and not the amount of people. They also didn't plan on an entire evacuation having to rely on just the life boats, they figured there would be help close by and the rescue ship would use its life boats too and ferry passengers to the rescue ship. Legally titanic needed 10 life boats, they put 16 and 4 collapsible ones. After the sinking this rule was scrapped and they made it that you needed enough for everyone.

    • @pc_buildyb0i935
      @pc_buildyb0i935 ปีที่แล้ว

      The saddest part about all that is more lifeboats wouldn't have made a big difference. The ship's officers and crew didn't even have the time to get all 20 launched before the ship sank - Collapsibles A and B floated off the boat deck when the bow went down at 2:05 am. More lifeboats would simply have gone down with the ship

    You would drown, or freeze to death if you jumped in that water. Within 5-10 minutes you’d be dead. Well before they’d get the ship turned around, especially if she had jumped & no one knew. Don’t know where you got the idea that jumping into freezing water, in the middle of the Atlantic is like taking a dip in the tub..

      Unless you're the head chef of The Titanic. He was a freaking BADASS! He swam in the water until daylight, then swam over to the overturned lifeboat. Then he didn't even climb on, he just held on to it and waited to be pulled out. His physical damage: swollen feet. Why no one talks more about him is beyond me.

  • @alanhilton3611
    @alanhilton3611 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The ironic thing is if the Titanic hit the iceberg head on she probably would have survived and stayed Afloat hitting the iceberg off to one side put a massive gash down the side of the ship so the watertight doors couldn't do their job plus the steal of the time wasn't the same as the Steel we use today in fact it was quite brittle. I think the picture may have survived in those depths because of the pressure and the anaerobic conditions of the deep sea which often preserves objects

    Mqrriages were arranged in high society so he probably sees her as a trophy. And her family saw that as an opportunity to get out of bankruptcy. No wonder she talks about being enslaved. I don't know if he knew her bride's family was ruined. Had he known he probably would have refused to marry her altogether. This is where lies take you... to the abyss.
    The irony about Titanic not having enough Lifeboats, it actually took twice as much as the reglementation would force them to. So it was theoritically better equipped than officially needed. Even that proved insufficient in the end.
    Other irony, they only had ONE pair of binoculars when they should have had two so he Brdige crew kept the only one they had and let the crow's nest crew without anything to see far away obstacles...
    The Rudder was too short, turning circle of the ship was too great and reversing engines at the same time meant that the ship drifted towards the iceberg instead of turning, giving its nice broadside to the iceberg... Hitting it head on would have been preferable.
    I think Michelle would make a good female DiCaprio for sure...

      That scene was held up as an example of the effort to make the film as historically accurate as possible.
Can’t recall name off top of my head, but the one where 5th officer Lowe shouts to “get back the lot of you” before firing shots out over the water
