    We have that window kit and have discovered that you can install the shade upside down so that you can peek out the top instead of the bottom if you want to see what's going on outside. The shade doesn't care if it's upside down.

    Definitely need some way to get that shade down with the screen door closed! It was difficult lowering the shade because I had to open the door, open the screen, close the screen, lower the shade, open the screen then close the door. At 72 it felt a bit dangerous. Maybe Lippert can make a screen for the top section that will slide down so you could close and open the shade without having to go outside?

    good video. I installed 2 thin shade windows in my doors a bit more than a year ago now. holding up pretty good. however with time, the shade looses shape (the folds collapse.) not a big deal but something to be aware of. the other downfall is you can only open and close the shade while the door is open unless you modify the screen door. making the upper screen in the screen door removable while the door is closed. great idea with the lower screen protector for the pets. stay healthy and Safe Travels.

    Out of the box that frame is snapped together. At least it was on mine. You will need to use the 16 white plastic shims to separate the pieces before you can do anything. Don't lose those shims. A replacement kit retails for over $40. I put the shade in to leave lift from the bottom. Note the WIDE section of the frame is the one the shade folds into. Wide part at top of you want to draw the shade down
    If you want to draw it up from the bottom. Wide part of frame goes on bottom.

    • @sssophiesmom
      @sssophiesmom 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it is the stupidest design ever to ship those pieces out snap together. It was an absolute nightmare trying to get them apart before we can even attempt to install
      Once we finally got the new one apart then we had to try and remove the one on the camper which is also a Lippert snap together window it was extraordinarily difficult and we had to resort to using a crowbar. very poor design

    When you use the reflective material, did the plastic frame on your door melt?? Mine did and they use this thin shade frame with no shade to replace my window. Now I’m trying to get that fixed because I don’t want the shade or thin shade window, because eventually that shade will start to slide fade and get destroyed by the sun. The tinted glass looks good, but I would prefer tinted glass over the shade,, and Lippert would not replace my window when it melted from the reflective cover that you put on your windows for keeping the light out.

    If we had kids with us (does Hubs count?😂) that screen door closer would be great. We also have a large rescue dog that goes nuts if he thinks anyone within a 5 house radius is a threat to his people so the screen defender is a must! Wonder if they make them for house screen doors 🤔

    Thanks so much for doing that door window/shade! I've been looking at that for quite some time, and quite frankly, it didn't get the best reviews on Amazon, (and sometimes that doesn't matter,) but for the price of it I wasn't sure I'd want to "pull the trigger." That factory window leaks too much darn light in while we're still in bed, but the shade that Velcro's over it isn't that great of solution, PLUS it would be nice to see out of that door if someone's approaching!

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’re happy with it from an install/quality standpoint. I did run a tiny bead of silicone on top to “double seal” just in case. Camp-side windows are always a plus when watching the kiddos while doing dishes, ect...

      @@WanderingWeekends Plus, I always make a routine out of making sure the dead-bolt is locked on the coach before shutting down for the night. • @sssophiesmom

    Hey Corey I know this is an old video, but just wanted to let you know my sister and I just replaced the opaque window in my brand new 2024 Grand Design imagine aim 16 ml today and it was an absolute nightmare using this kit
    You were lucky because your grand design had the screw in frame so that was easy for you to remove.
    However for some reason Lippert is packaging these frames so that the inner and outer piece are actually connected when you receive it
    So then you need to try and separate them before you can remove the old one and install the new one
    Let me tell you we had a hell of a time getting those two pieces apart. The new click in style that they use is a horrible horrible design. And just trying to get the new window apart before we could install it we broke off one of the click in pieces
    Once we finally got the new one apart, then we went on to try to remove the existing one from the trailer and ran into the exact same problem
    Even with the little white insert pieces that they supply, we had to use a flathead screwdriver to try and pop them apart, and even had to resort to a crowbar. It was absolutely ridiculous in a very very poor design
    Happy with the end results so that I can actually see on my window I never understand why manufacturers install opaque windows windows in the doors

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm… that is interesting. We had one of our windows shattered by a lawnmower (rock). Uninstalling the old window went well for us. We had to use the white inserts to remove the old window and it did what it was supposed to do. I will say that Lippert needs to make sure the window doesn’t click into itself when packing. That is simply dumb on their part.
      I hate it was a pain. 😩
