Fun fact: In all of professional baseball history, there has been exactly one game ever called on account of volcano. Shortly after the Mount St. Helens eruption, the Spokane Indians (at the time the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners) had to cancel a home game because there was just too much volcanic ash to safely play a baseball game. Then the rest of their home games got rained out.
another icyvert video has hit the SRS youtube channel
December 12, 1982. Miami at New England. The game was called " The snowplow game " because a snowplow was used to clear a spot for the Patriots' kicker to kick the winning field goal. Miami protested this, to no avail, wiping the normally smug smile off Miami head coach Don Shula's face
the driver of the plow was on loan from the department of corrections😂
Even before Bill Belichick New England was cheating.
Another cool hockey one, 1975 Stanley Cup between the Sabres and Flyers. It was so hot in Buffalo during game 3 that the arena filled with fog. There was also a bat in the area during this game.
Maybe young kids shouldn’t make historic videos knowing how bad they will inevitably miss important marks.
The Fog Bowl between the Bears and Eagles a couple decades back comes to mind as far as games you missed.
Which is why kids under 25 shouldn’t be posting historic videos as content. It’s pathetic.
The 1965 12 Hours of Sebring race of the World Sports car Championship had conditions more suited for a boat race than a car race. Some teams cut holes in their floors to drain water. The photos from it are incredible
I attended the Minnesota outdoor hockey game against St. Louis that was incredibly cold a couple years ago. I bought a hot chocolate and it froze within 20 mins of purchasing. I drank half of it before it froze. My toes probably got frostbite, and the venue opened club level concourses to serve as a warm shelter for fans to not freeze to death. I'm not sure I would do it again but it was an amazing time!
Came here to say this. Idk why that game and the Vikings-Seahawks 2015 playoff game weren't included.
It was so cold it was causing the ice to have issues.
@@classjacksonlawsuit And Bud f***ing Grant walked out for the coin toss in a short sleeved shirt! What a legend!
The Eagles-Lions game was one of five games that day played in the Snowpocalypse. You also had the Ravens-Vikings game that had one of the craziest finishes in NFL history, a game between the Packers and Falcons that had a comeback drive engineered by Matt Flynn, a game between the Chiefs and Washington that spawned a meme for how bad it was at halftime, and a Dolphins-Steelers game that ended in heartbreak for the Steelers when Antonio Brown was ruled out of bounds while trying to score the game-tying touchdown. There was another comeback win by the Patriots against the Browns that same day but the blizzard didn't hit Foxboro.
This is more of a Worst Field Conditions Ever but the Steelers vs Dolphins MNF game in 2008 where the field was so bad a punt didn’t bounce because it got stuck in the field.
Lmao. As soon as i read your comment, i remembered watching that game and how we all got a good laugh at that.
I was in the stadium that night. The stadium was evacuated due to a lightning strike. We ended up in a bar and never reentered the stadium.
Correction it was 2007 and 4 some reason I remember I had homemade French fries for dinner.
Growing up in Philly, the pickle juice game is why I have 2 jars of pickle juice in my fridge right now.
If you were talking about extreme heat, have I got a good one for you:
The Slurpee game in Sunrise. Yes that’s what it’s called.
With playoff implications on the line, and just having moved out of Miami Arena into their current venue in Sunrise Florida, the Florida Panthers played the Dallas Stars near the end of the season in late May to try and clinch a playoff spot. The game was as described: a slush fest, inside an indoor rink. With record temperatures of being the hottest NHL game that wasn’t played outside. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the Dallas Stars were a team on a mission as despite being used to the unusual ice conditions of south Florida they lost in overtime 3 - 2. Mike Modano was quoted for the Slurpee comparison.
Reunion Arena, the Stars' arena at the time, also had problems with their ice, which was a big factor in that arena being replaced.
The 2019 Women’s World Cup was played in the worst heat wave France so far ever had and was over 100 degrees at several points.
That Bruins Lake Tahoe game was the most beautiful sports setting I've ever seen. I remember watching it on TV. It's what I picture Heaven to look like.
The Celtics played a game in the 80’s where the AC wasn’t working and it was near 100F
Great Video! brought back a lot of fond memories. I wish there were more crazy weather sports events nowdays, but it is becoming less common with indoor stadium becoming more popular.
Mariners vs Astros in the 2022 ALDS. The wildfire smoke was especially bad because the game went 18 innings. It was even gassing as a spectator
i vividly remember watching the snow bowl in a restaurant and i thought it was the coolest thing at the time
I was at the 2022 Canada vs Mexico soccer qualifier for the world cup in Edmonton, they called the stadium "Iceteca" after Mexico's Azteca because of the cold. There's a great video of one of the Canadian players jumping into a pile of snow after scoring a goal, worth checking out
Pickle juice puts Gatorade to shame?! LMAO!
You forgot the 2022 NHL Winter Classic which had a record low of -6 F°
The Lake Tahoe Game Isnt Alone In NHL Outdoor Games To Have To Much Heat. In Fact Its Not Even The Only One In The State Of Nevada As When The Third NHL Outdoor Game And First Official One Was Played Back In The 1991 Pre-Season Between Gretzkys Kings And Messiers Rangers. They Held It At Ceasers Palace In Vegas. The Ice Was Terrable But The Game Was Finished. The Temperrature Was Between 85 And 95 Degrees.
I’ll throw in a vote for the Flyers/Sabres classic “fog game” from the 1975 Stanley Cup finals!
Not exactly a weather event, but the 2007 ALDS featured bugs that bothered Joba Chamberlain
You totally forgot the Eagles vs Bears Fog Bowl from the mid-80's. That was so bad that the players could barely see their hands in front of their faces.
ironically the next week after that dallas game they got to play against the cardinals in the old tempe scorchbox, sun devil stadium, where you had to bring a blanket or a towel so you didnt get burns from the seats/benches
The Monday Night game between the Steelers and Dolphins where the ball basically stuck in the mud was hilarious
The Astros Mariners game in the 2022 playoffs that went like 18 innings or something probably should have been called for air quality it was bad, I was there and like I couldn’t breathe right for a week after
And Zack Greinke was there in disguise.
Wait fr I didn’t know what?
Wasn't there an indoor hockey game where the HVAC system broke or was so bad that there was fog? Not really weather but kind of
1975 Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 and 4
There was the fog game between, I believe, Buffalo and Philly in the mid 1970s. But there was also a game that had to be cancelled in 1988 in the finals between Edmonton and Boston because of the heat
@@estellegrignonthe 1988 game was cancelled due to the power going out at Boston Garden
@@cohengamertv6548 you're right! It was still stupid hot in the Garden until the power outage for an NHL game, but I stand corrected
I remember when the NFL delayed a game in a dome due to lightning, but allowed a game to be played in a "bomb cyclone" (SNF Colts at Niners)
Suprised game 5 of the 1984 NBA Finals didn't at least get an honorable mention in the heat segment.
Idk why but weather and sports are just my favorite together haha
That would’ve been sick if they could’ve played ON Lake Tahoe
I went to an SF Giants game in 2018 in the middle of summer and it was staggeringly hot, like 99 or 100F. The bay never gets that hot. I live in the North Valley where we regularly see temps above 110 in the peak of the summer.
POV: how hard sports pages avoid giving the Tigers credit for their amazing run
they will talk about it once they make it
Pats bills like 3 years ago we ran it all but 3 plays crazy game...
Josh allen actually threw a couple balls that worked truly one of the strongest arm every
I classify the raw sewage falling from above at Fed Ex Field as rain
Great vid and can’t wait for part 2
2022 NHL Winter Classic between St. Louis and Minnesota. -5°F, which turn to -20 with the windchill, so cold that fans beers were frozen over.
I went to a Jets-Falcons game in NJ that was basically a monsoon and was enjoying getting to watch the game staying perfectly dry due to the overhang above our seats.......until we had to leave
How about the Momsoon Game of 1979 between the Bucs and Chiefs.
Go for 2 in that wind game. Even if the defense is lined up blitz, run it
Was the 2 pt conversion even a thing in the NFL by that time?
2:40 this is why Miller Park has a roof. Early baseball on Lake Michigan is Brutal.
As a Brewers fan, I appreciate you for using the correct name as it will always be Miller Park 😂
I remember Nob Uecker talking about those early season games at County Stadium with no heat in the radio box.
I remember there being a Busch/Xfinity series race at Bristol that had to be stopped for a quick snowstorm. Also, what about when the Coca Cola 600 would wind up with a halftime break every year for rain?
Surprised the Fog Bowl between the Eagles and Bears wasnt in the video, they say the coaches and players on the sideline couldn't see what was happening and the QBs couldnt see the safetys when playing
I want a video on the MLB “bug game” in 2007
The thumbnail; I remember that time with that horrible air quality. It was nearly unbearable just to walk from my house to the bus stop a mere 500 feet away.
ayy hockey content finally
You missed the NFL game with only a 6 minute half because rain during the 2nd quarter had delayed the game so long they didn't even send players to the locker rooms. Chiefs Seahawks.
Incredibly, this isn't the last time a Sunday night game hosted by the Chiefs was played in a monsoon and had a long delay as a result. The Sunday Night game between the Chiefs and Bills in 2021 also had a long rain delay and ended up being the longest game in the history of NBC's run of Sunday night games.
No fog bowl?
How do you miss the fog bowl??
Honestly this just doesn’t feel up to par. The script is repetitive and the list of games isn’t particularly remarkable. Gives the impression of kind of low effort.
Fog Bowl
IcyVert is my son
i got a targeted ad of sabrina carpenter in lingerie on the side of this video
Probably didn't watch much of the video
Lucky you!

Ok
8:13 What's with the Indiana Jones music?
Phillies 23 Cubs 22 10 innings. 5/17/1979
Surprised they used pickle juice when you can just use salt tablets, electrolyte pills or a Pedialyte, etc... When I was in Kuwait in 1991 for the oil rig fires, we took salt tablets
The first home game in Blue Jays history was almost snowed out. Fortunately, unfortunately for players knees, they had an artificial turf field, so the snow could be shoveled off without worrying about damage like on a grass field.
There was a field goal attempt in a CFL game that was even more dramatic than the sideways kick in the Bears-49ers game. It looked like the kicker hit it perfectly, but it was heading into the wind, and the ball practically stopped in mid air just before it reached the goalposts and fell short. There’s nothing you can do in that situation.
One year during a sports car race at Watkins Glen, there was a sudden downpour that caught everyone out on slick tires, which can handle a little dampness but any amount of water on the surface is like driving on ice. Over the next two minutes, car after car slid straight through turn 1 and piled up in the runoff area. The announcers were beside themselves every time another car came along and realized they couldn’t stop.
no Fog Bowl is criminal
Liked the ones you listed. Respectfully, I'd like to suggest adding the Fog Bowl between the Bears and Eagles.
really good call throwing that one out for future consideration
