Just a coupla names I immediately thought of that would have been better: 1) Boss Baby 2) Powder Puff Girl 3) Born This Way 4) So Baby Fresh and So Clean
I’ve been stepped back because of all the quality control issues with them. So I don’t see myself ever ordering from them again…. I have zero tolerance for ignorance.
@thatsforgurls Me too. They were playing games and posting other Fragrances later, causing some people to place 2 orders FOMO. People were complaining about the Hunger Games tactics they are using.
To tell the truth when I saw the baby mama perfume on the website I automatically went to think its going to be a baby powder scent.i didn't think much into it.
I was JUST about to make an order, glad I saw this first. Whenever people use “woke” in this way I have their number and I know what’s up. Like you said these brand owners would do themselves a favor to move in silence. I don’t care about naming the scent Baby Mama although I would side eye it because why? Just to be controversial? I got an email from Pick Me Up Parfums so I’ll be saving the coint for that release. Love the video as always!
Same! Whenever people use "woke" all wrong like this, i immediately see through the bull****. I know what they're really trying to say, and I want NO parts. My money is too influential (and hard earned). If I'm too "woke" then so is my money.
Awwwwwwwwwwww man. Now I can’t unhear this info and I gotta go see what homeboy was talking about cause I’ve spent too much money for “fake woke” to to be the statement. Let me go holler at Shannon. ❤
Girl, I just know in my heart when you said there’s a joke in there about that bomb combo you created…. I know you were going to say if you wear it then you’ll become a “baby mama” because you had just talked about it 😂😂😂😂
The brand's name was unnecessary and marked the beginning of something that could snowball into a larger issues in the future. Then people act like they had no idea; the owners are assholes. This is a sign: when someone shows you who they are, believe them. I'm so glad I never got into this brand; I think they're overpriced anyway.
Yes I agree. Keep the detailed inner workings of your mind to yaself. People get so comfortable and then feel they can say whatever they want. If you want a baby powder scent - try Kenzo Flowers.
His response just solidifies WHY the name is an issue. I have been buying DUAs since they had the clear faux crystal like tops and have not seen ANY other name that compares even remotely in ability to make people do a double take.
Thanks for sharing. I just ordered zesty lemon cake and caramelized pineapple dream last night. Can’t wait to get it. I purchased the Kayali bougie marshmallow dupe. I like it.
If it's a baby powder scent, why not just name it 'Powder' or 'Baby soft skin from yesteryears'? The 'fake woke' thing turns me off to potentially shopping at DUA (and there are few dupes I wanted to purchase just to see what they smell like) but that right there tells me a lot about the company.
Thanks for the review. The name would not bother me at all. It is interesting to me how many in the AA community freely refer to themselves as baby mama or baby daddy with no shame or offense taken. However the moment someone else uses the same names/ phrases folks want to side eye. Why is that? If the name is considered negative or offensive why would anyone want to refer to themselves as a baby mama or baby daddy? Make it make sense🙄
@@victoriousvkg this. or you can be comfortable with people in your community doing something you wouldn’t be comfortable with an outsider doing. & that can be on a gendered, personal or racial level. Boundaries are good!
When non AAs use the term woke that they have hijacked from our community they usually don’t think well of us. Make it make sense to spend money with people who don’t think well of us, at least enough to respect basic human rights.
I don’t really care for name of the fragrance and I can see how some people were giving the name the side eye. Yes, we live in a sensitive world now and I think a lot of people are just Tired of the BS! Now, what I don’t like is his response. I wasn’t on FB and I didn’t witness verbatim what he said, but reading some of these comments I don’t like it. He needs to tread lightly and stay out the comments and just stick to being the CEO behind the scenes because I don’t mind shopping elsewhere.
I wanna try Skinpotion Cookie Butter body butter & Amore Caffe on top of Bond No. 9 TriBeCa before winter is over. Seems like it would be so good on a cold day!
Oh no! This sounds amazing! I have a sample of amore cafe coming if the stl usps would just please let me have my package 😫. This combo is getting tried the moment I have that in my hands.
Love heaven scent!such a cute company!love all the scents I have from there with happy dust and marshmallow being my favorite. Plus they all project and last long.also great customer service!I'm going to have to pick up going bananas now.😊❤
Of all the things it could have been named. Sigh. I'm glad it smells good since the phrase "Baby mama" has a widely accepted negative connotation for Black women.
He should have dropped the fragrance "baby mama" and another fragrance called "baby daddy" at the same time so that there wouldn't have been much backlash. The idea to name it "Baby Mama Drama" is great, and if i was his marketing team, I'd definitely do that. I do think the name wasn't that serious though. We are in hyper-sensitive times, so people are ready to snap about everything.
Yea first I don’t think the name is that big of a deal anyway. Not sure what all the chaos was about and I have seen several TH-camrs say that it does not smell to good
I guess my ears did perk up a little “baby mama” but that is the type of provocative name I would give unadbashadely if I were in charge of naming perfumes and the flanker would be Sugar Daddy. The do have a Sweet Talking Daddy perfume which I like.
The Baby Mama drama was insane. The name didn’t bother me. I don’t take things like that personal. I just keep scrolling and move on. I didn’t grab one because the scent profile is just not my vibe. I had so many others I wanted and was so lucky to get them all. All the Kayali and BBW dupes by Dua are spot on to me including these ones. Another great video!
I know i’d like amore cafe. I love the way you describe it. Also, dua's response to the controversy proves his intent. I think non black brands should stay in their racial lanes just to be safe tho.
Vania: Great review! I 100% agree with you about MG Intense and Amore Caffe. I would also hughly recommend you try Paris Corner's Marshmallow Blush; it's a fantastic dupe of Yum Bougie Marshmallow with great longevity. And girl, GIRL...all the back & forth over the Baby Mama scent was beyond ridiculous. Mahsam definitely should've kept that "woke explanation" to himself. That was a mess.
My thoughts exactly. When did everyone become so sensitive and easily offended over any and everything? All these "purity" tests are honestly exhausting.
Bank teller is crazy 😂😂 the name is a little off-putting, but the “fake woke” remark is a complete turnoff. Every time someone with status receives feedback they don’t like, they resort to the ad hominems. You have the right to name a fragrance the way you like. As such, the people who are (potentially) paying for it have equal right to say they don’t like the name of it.
Amore cafe is so good! I have the DUA one but it’s got more coffee of it and I don’t like it as much. About the DUA brand I really don’t need to know brands personal opinion on things 😬
I think you’re describing going anosmic to the scent. That happens to me with Bianca latte. His woke tirade had a Streisand effect. It made a small thing into a very big thing. I hope more brands will learn to just shut it. I’m way less likely to buy more now.
I don’t think anyone, who isn’t a woman, should be naming anything “baby momma” there’s so many other names out there for fragrances. To me, it shows whoever made that decision doesn’t have good common sense. Why even open yourself up to that sort of pushback…..now for him to say all this “fake wokeness/outrage, in this climate, is enough for me to know all I need to know. Who he is and his beliefs 🥴🙄
I seen the drama in the group but nope it honestly didn’t bother me when I seen the name I didn’t even think about the name I was wondering about the notes lol

Omg coming back to lol at your “maybe it’s that bank teller in there” comment. Lol gourmand illusion is in my top 5 Dua’s, but I get it isn’t for everyone
Late to the party, but IMO: No, Baby Mama is not the MOST offensive thing it could have been called, like that in and of itself isn't worth getting super upset about, but it really smells like stirring the pot for attention. I don't think that's admirable behavior for a business owner, and it doesn't incentivize me to buy their product. Hearing about the owner's statements makes me think he's an edgy try-hard, and that's not the sort of person I want to spend my money with. Plus, it's weird to call it Baby Mama when it smells like Baby (powder) lol.
I didnt even think anything about the name.... but did wonder how the hell it sold out so dang fast! Now I know why bc it was pulled. Geez it ain't that deep. Ppl too sensitive I swear.
I personally don't care about the name. I'm not and will never be a "baby mama" so idc. I have 2 kids and am still not a "baby mama." If it don't apply, let it fly 🤷🏿♀️... also, choose your battles.
Just a coupla names I immediately thought of that would have been better: 1) Boss Baby 2) Powder Puff Girl 3) Born This Way 4) So Baby Fresh and So Clean
All so much better!!
I'm glad ol' boy from DUA showed his tail. He ain't gotta worry about me spending my coins. Neeext! I'm excited about Shannon tho. Love her

Not offended at all. And it sounds like a really good fragrance.
Mon Guerlain intense is my signature scent. People stop me out in the world and make me spell out the name for them. Constant compliment getter
That honey drizzled clementine from dua dupe for ce noir is sooo good.

💯
😮 I did not know that, I just assumed it was referring to an “unmarried” mom. Thank you for educating
Beautiful skin and I'm loving the hair. Are you able to do combo videos with body spray and perfumes?🤗💖
Baby! I'm here 2.5 seconds after the drop!

Highly recommend @Heaven Scent by Shannon her version of Missing Person by Phlur. Love it! Long lasting and smells amazing.
I’ve been looking for the Minnie Mouse house of silage by the DUA brand
The Dua Brand has an amazing dupe for Palatine by PDM. The dupe is strong than the original, I love it.

I’ve been looking at marshmallow blush. I wasn’t sure if the reviewers on YT were being honest but I’m going to try it. It’s not that expensive either
Oooooooooohhhhhhhh ooooooooohhhhhhhh 😂😂😂😂😂
Not sure why people were so up in arms about the name baby mama. Everybody is gonna be cancelled at this point 🤦🏽♀️
