Why the hell are you showing a FPS chart for the *2060* model if you're reviewing (and titling the video) the GTX *1660 Ti* model? This makes no sense.
Agree on almost everything about this G5... it's much better than I expected! I love the feel of the chassis. It feels dense and rigid in the way the more premium Alienware M15, MSI Stealth, and Asus ROG Zephyrus do not. Port selection and configuration is great... Dell kind of nailed it. However, a few small points... I have this equipped with RTX2060/144hz display (which is much brighter and more vibrant), and the 97whr battery. MicroCenter has this configuration for $1299 in store with 16gb ram, 512gb nvme... and with all that in mind, it's an even better value if you have a MicroCenter nearby. Peace!

Others have pointed out the title discrepancy with what you show in the video. Also worth pointing out that on the version with an actual 1660Ti, that Thunderbolt port is only a USB Type C w/ DisplayPort..
I got my Special Edition G5 with the RGB keyboard option, Nvme + 1TB HD and 144hz screen for $1,150 before tax ($1,220 after). Dell has sales almost every week. $1,300 is not the price anyone should be paying for a 1660ti rig. I would have never paid that lol. Just gotta wait for a sale and be thrifty.
bought this thing after watching. no regrets. although i would suggest reinstalling with vanilla windows 10. the dell version is filled bloatware. but its dell so. the Linux support is nice. and when i bought it it was 1200$ labor day sales are great.

Actually you can swap the battery for 90Whr instead of the hard disk. on average works about 5-6 hours of normal usage and 144Hz model is a bit more color accurate
Yeah so that was actually because I feel like the 1660 Ti is a much better value and since this is a mid-tier / budget oriented gaming laptop, more people would be interested in the 1660 Ti rather than the more expensive 2060. Given the screen and how there's no 4K screen option, I thought it made more sense. As for the m15, I've seen it in person but haven't used it. I have used the m17 though and honestly, I can't think of anything off the top of my head. Glass trackpad and the alienware amp port (custom eGPU) come to mind but there's not really any significantly better aspect by going to the m15. My recommendation is go with the Dell G series if you want value, or go for an Aero 15 or Razer Blade 15 if you wanna blow like $2100 for a really good premium laptop.

Totally wrong review. Just bought and 4 hours after unboxing now updating softwares. The screen brightness is awesome and colors perfect. I am a graphic designer and this looks fit even the brightness is 50 percent. And yes it has GTX 1660ti.

Didn't the annoying ass I tel driver issues with this that's only available on dells website and won't install. Also it ships missing a major bios update which is essential because the system throttles like crazy until you install it. I hook it up to a hdr TV at home so screen color isn't a issue

Strange. Windows will throttle performance of the CPU and GPU on battery but it doesn’t throttle the WiFi card (by default at least). Best bet is to post on a tech forum like tomshardware.com or reddit.com/r/windows or /r/dell. I’m sure it’s a power saving feature that you can disable. In the meantime, you can troubleshoot by opening Device Manager, finding your WiFi card, properties, then going through the settings for it.
Just bought the i7-9750H, GTX 1650 variant of this laptop off the Dell website for a pretty good deal. Btw what's the lid material? Is it smooth plastic?
@@ahadalpha1109 It depends on the game. On GTA 5 very high settings it could get over 90 degrees after I play for hours. On Witcher 3 it sits around high 70s after I play for hours. On League it's 70ish. I undervolted my CPU to get lower temps and it decreases by a few degrees
I am not a reviewer or TH-camr, but I went to BestBuy two and a half week ago and bought the new G3 with GTX 1660 TI, mainly because both Dell and BestBuy website stated it had a full card. To my surprise, it came with a GTX 1660 TI with Max-Q design! I tested it for a couple hours and it was REALLY noisy, went back the following day and traded for the New G5 15 5590, which came with same i7 9750H but with full GTX 1660 TI, loving it so far (only downside until now is that after some Windows Update I can no longer see my GPU temps on the Alienware Command Center).
Never had that happen. Only thing I can think of is there's a trackpad setting that auto disables itself when a mouse is connected. Otherwise, software bug.

If I recall, it shares a lot of parts with the Aero 15 right? If true, I've reviewed the Aero 15 before and I liked it a lot. One of the better thin and light gaming laptops, especially the battery. Something like 90WHr, ~7 hour battery. IF they're the same laptop, then I think you'll like the Triton 500 much more than the Dell G5.
@@InfinityLabsTech i updated all drivers and I have the same issue. Try unchecking the leave touchpad on when mouse connected. Then disconnect the mouse and you'll see the touchpad stops working. The Gygabit Aero laptops are not available in stores in my city (Chicago).

Nah, dell’s “gaming” g-series total trash, absolutely hate it. For less price you can get msi’s gl laptop with 120hz tn panel, which is even better than this panel, and at least it has MUCHMUCHMUCH better cooling system unlike these shits g-laptops

MSI have tons of after purchase issues, I payed more for the Dell for their after sales support and their product is generally very reliable
