So happy you made it there safe and sound. Long 16 day trip. So sad though that you skipped so much to go there. Queensland and the Torres Straight Islands. New Zealand, what a beautiful country. I know you have your own agenda. I hope you slow down some and take it all in. Fairwinds......
So you glassed in the escape hatches? I'm pretty sure Parlay Revival and others did that. From what I understand, a few boats have sunk when they were breached. Good move. Catamans seldom flip. It was good to see you in Darwin.
@@Yacht-Driver Ooookay there. WHAT history does the west coast hide? Paddy disappearance? With all due respect, the west coast of Australia is sand, dunes and salties. And a full circunnavigation (it means going around) of Australia is a full-year adventure with most goodies hiding around Fraser Island anyway.
Funny how my first reaction to you removing the escape hatches was HORROR but then... At first, I wanted to write, "How are you going to sell it?" but then I thought, he actually made it MORE valuable. More and more people realize that "escape hatches" do more harm than good. My second thought was, what are they gonna do if they capsize, but then... How many times have you heard of a catamaran capsizing? Me - never. Even the dumbest Outremer (or worse yet - Marsaudon!!!) fanboy at full beam reach with leeward daggerboard down will be hard pressed to flip his cat. Maybe in 1980-something when 60-foot cats weighed 20 tons it COULD happen (but still didn't) but today when even a 40-foot Lagoon tips the scales at 10 tons... I don't think so. However I did hear (and read) (and saw) at least a few stories about cat sinking due to a leaking "escape hatch". (Yes, I mean YOU, Fountaine-Pajot!) So... Kudos!!! Well done, nameless Aussie outhaulers, for damaging the windows and deck. Talking of which.... FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, you dipsticks!!!! It's your JOB to haul out boats and you BROKE it. At least brits have the excuse of all being cousins. What's yours, except "we'll be late to footie"? Bloody dills!
What you said. Given where ours were - under the bridge deck vs right above the waterline on the side of the haul, that hatch failing wouldn’t sink us, but it would create a BIG problem with water all over the place. Any time I can scratch something off the ‘thinks I have to keep an eye on’ list, it’s a win in my book.
@@sailing_scout Under the bridge deck!? So... Privilege in their infinite wisdom decided to make hatches more of a "go back and retrieve the steak from the oven" rather than "abandon ship". 😀
If I may be so bold as to give advice, I would recommend to rent a car in Australia and go down (and back up) the west coast. The views are to die for!!! Which is likely considering the Australian fauna... and flora. BEWARE!!!! KOALAS BITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
welcome to the land down under
Thank you!

Yeah, opportunity cost. Any day you spend one place is a day you don’t spend somewhere else. We’re thankful for all the places we are seeing!
Thank you!

Congratulations y’all! Have a great time, can’t wait to see your adventures.
Thank you!! Thanks for watching!
Be sure to visit the squishy sands of Rainbow Beach.
Australia is awesome - so much to see and do - it’s a big place!

Yup - win win in my book!
Didn’t do the outro?
The last little bit of our video got cut off for some reason. 😞
Its a shame that you skipped the best part of Australia my home state Queensland.

Meagan: poisonous vs venomous
You bite it, and you die: poisonous!
It bites (stings/zaps) you, and you die: venomous!
Thanks Rick - you’re spot on!
