Hello Sharon, I would like to speak to you about hair care, I have been a license cosmetologists since 1961, I worked behind the salon chair for 56 years, 1. Dark and Lovely relaxer, is bad for the hair, it has calcium hydroxide in the relaxer, check the warning on the box, once the hair bonds soften, the calcium base get into the shaft of the hair, and cause hardness and dryness, hydroxide is still lye. Professional relaxed is better, sodium hydroxide is better for the hair and it's a professional product. I would be thrill to talk and help you, License 1961- 2023, I would love to send you, my information, in in the USA but live to educate you about , the girls and your hair. Moisturize shampoo for all of yall hair, and moisture condition for the hair. I hope you read, this I would like to help you, I would to help, thank you for reading this , God bless.

      Hey Nina
So I use The Olive oil relaxer. I'm guessing thats the same right.? And yes Virginia at the salon did tell me off a little. And advised for me to come to her to get it done professionally if I want to carry on relaving my hair. At this rate I'm not sure if I want to carry on relaxing my hair.
But we can connect if you send me an email to
      dmoworld111@gmail.com
That's for that information you provided I really do appreciate it ❤❤❤

Relaxing thin hair destroys your hair and you will lose it. The braids if braided too tight will cause your hair to fall out as well.

Facts! I have over 30 yrs experience… Dark and Lovely is marketed as professional but it’s one of the most harsh products for black hair! Never liked or recommend it to anyone.. people came in crying for help after it damaged their hair…Delt with anemia for years be careful get help because it sent me into a state of depression… just feeling weak and exhausted all the time.. take care …

Yes Sharon, your hair looks great. This bob style is on the Amusement Park intro. Women of color- our hair is usually dry & takes longer to grow. Keep it moisturized. I'm much older in age and thru heredity, my hair is also thining on top. Stress & improper care will do that.

Hey Sharon, I am an older woman and I started having that same problem 2 months ago and stress was a big factor but what I realized is that I don't wash the silk scarfs I just wrap my hair up. I prayed about it and come to find out that scarfs have dye in them , so its very important that we wash them before hand. I believe that was another reason why my hair start to shed. Also perms are not good for the hair it can become detrimental if you keep using it.
A perm is like acid to the scalp... We are part of God's body and we must take care of every part of it 🙏🏾❤️

But yeah you're right, I've been torn between relaxing and going natural for a long long time. Being natural take time to nurture and learn about your hair texture but relaxing is so convenient. I think this year might be the year I go full natural

HI SHARON, I TOO USE TO RELAX MY HAIR IN THE 90'S WITH DARK AND LOVELY AND IT HAD MY HAIR GROWING LIKE CRAZY, PROBABLY BECAUSE I LOVED DOING MY HAIR BACK THEN, I KEPT IT WASHED AND GREASED WITH BLUE MAGIC HAIR GREASE, WHICH I STILL USE TILL THIS DAY. I DON'T PERM MY HAIR ANYMORE STOP DOING THAT IN THE LATE 90'S AS I NOTICED MY HAIR WASN'T GROWING WITH THE RELAXERS ANYMORE. I THREW AWAY ALL MY HEATED APPLIANCES AND STARTED BRAIDING MY HAIR (AND EVERYBODY ELSE'S) THE BRAIDS WERE MAKING MY HAIR LONGER AND THICKER. I STOP THE BRAIDS 2 YEARS AGO, AS I AGAIN NOTICED THAT MY HAIR STOPPED GROWING WITH THE BRAIDS. SO NOW I WEAR WIGS, MY HAIR IS BACK GROWING AGAIN AND I STILL USE BLUE MAGIC HAIR GREASE, I WASH MY HAIR EVERY MONTH AND IT GROWS😊

Yes, Sharon . . . I totally understand the low iron. Years ago, my iron level got so low my doctor requested a blood transfusion but I declined that, and, opted for 900mg of iron pills per day for 1 year. It worked and I haven’t been iron deficient since.👍🏽

Sharon, love the new hair style! My hair stylist is also from Dominican Republic , and they are some of the best 'hair stylists' ! Especially for women of color. Hair breakage, some balding spots, can be caused by so many things! Stress, medications, health issues , over perming, & not having proper care of the hair. I had the same issues and did some research that recommended trying 'Black Jamaican Caster Oil' , on the areas that are thinning or balding It is a little thick, so you don't need to use a lot. I will tell you I had some success. My hair is natural & thin, it didn't make it thicker, but in time you could see where the hair started to grow back. You have to have a routine and stay on top of it, to see if it works. You deserve to go monthly to the hair salon, treating yourself and I'm sure you're going to see a big difference. Blessed Sunday!

It was the best decision I made for my hair and now my hair is 💯 natural, thicker and healthier too. And I understand sometimes we think our natural hair is hard to maintain but as I got to learn more about my natural hair is actually very easy to maintain and styling it… when come to low iron yes your doing right to take the Iron pills, also try to include hair Vitamins; like Biotin, that will help with hair growth. Hi Sharon, I think your hair looks conditioned and the cut looks nice too. Maybe the top knot could have weakended the follicle. I'm not trying to give you a diagnosis, but it's possible. I love the top knot on you and perhaps you just need to change back and forth from wearing high and low ponytails when you wear your hair in. Like some are suggesting here, certain vitamins that conist of vitamins: D, A, C, E, Iron and Biotin, I think can be effective in balancing our immunity which helps in hair health. Your body just might be going through some changes now and I think often our bodies are designed to re-adjust once we implement some extra nutrition.

Sharon, I think you should definitely continue to get your hair done. I would also suggest maybe taking hair, skin & nails vitamins to help.

@dmoworld Yes, I take Garden of Life MyKind vitamins. I'm not sure if they're available in the UK but it's worth looking into.

Beautiful Sharon. I don't like the style but who cares. I always like when you wear hair slicked back in ponytail.

So many women are complaining about balding/thinning hair. There's tons of videos on TT where women are discussing it and all the various remedies. I've always had thick, strong hair but have a couple of thin areas now. A lot of people are saying that their hair has suffered and thinned out since they've had covid. I've had it twice so maybe there's something to it 🤔

Sharon stop relaxing your hair with dark an lovely, it should be band, why they call it dark an lovely I will never know. I lost all my beautiful hair coz I use to use dark an lovely, my hair went sooo thin, I just about have a little bit left now an it's soooo short an thin. It'd very upsetting, everyone says I should wear a wig, but now I wear my natural thin hair although it is very upsetting
