Good, Better, Vegan?

  • Veganism has caught the imagination of the youth aspiring to be healthy & consume ethically. Today, vegan cuisine has made its presence everywhere, from haute cuisine to supermarkets with replacements for milk, cheese, eggs, sausages & more! But food enterprises use harmful nutrition-deficient chemicals & risk-filled biotech to make substitutes. Can sustainable vegan diet be a reality for all?

I've been vegan since 1989 and, somehow, I've yet to die from a nutritional deficiency.

I've lost access to protein since 1993, people still ask me "where do you get your protein??"

You are brave now but malnutrition will hit you hard soon. Just wait for 30 or 50 years.

@Anon-Man. life & death are inevitable...murder is very much optional. Vegans don't contend that their "existence" is without a footprint, or damage of some kind. However, it is much lessened than people who haven't changed their dietary habits. The question is more of...how much damage/pain do I want to be responsible for? Honestly, unless you can provide receipts for your contention that 'something has to die for you, me & others to survive,' then it is only an opinion. Cite some research, or what you just said is just your own opinion that you probably gleaned from someone that was misinformed or had the same opinion as you.

Meat eaters live to the oldest in age while vegans have a shorter life span. Lol. You are eating yourself to an early grave eating vegan nonsense.

I had to supplement B-12 as a meat eater. And, I had to deal with high blood sugars, which have improved since I have gone plant based. Just from a health standpoint, plant based has been a boon. The huge bonus is not harming other sentient beings, and my Christian religion views that as being the ultimate goal.

Wow i love Germany🇩🇪& france i want to go there, im a total Herbivore Vegan 4 Life im on my 8th Year its honestly easy i dont miss meat but you need to make sure you have a proper Vegan diet or it can be difficult to maintain daily you feel alot better i would always get stomach aches before now i never do🫶🏻🙏🏻👏🏻🇳🇱 Alot of people are carnivores & have difficulty eating plants/plant based foods so i respect everybodys diets always & when my family would eat meat everybody is different. Remember how in movies the Aliens take the cows away? Because they dont want them to get slautered, in some religions cows are a God & the giver of life!

I don't like highly processed food. I prefer food which nature provides. And we don't need lots of food if we eat nutrient-dense food. Our earth provides enough healthy food for every body if we stop speculators.

Being vegan is best for the animals and the planet. It can also be healthier, depending on what you eat and whether you supplement B12.

Take chlorella once a week and you'll be fine without supplements. PS B12 is not a vitamin, but a bacteria that dies at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius.

Consider how the economies of rural landscapes, in particular higher altitude areas where arable crops cannot be grown, would have to change if the world became 100% vegan. Rural economies are already fragile enough and there aren't enough votes in rural areas for governments to devote the time and resources to manage a transition. Be careful what you wish for.

If it was required to show the sugar content of cow's milk on the labels, you'd be shocked.... Research has shown that vegan meat substitutes are healthier than their meat counterparts.
Veganism isn't about health btw, it's about avoiding animal exploitation, harm and suffering.

How does the nutrition compare between real meat and lab meat ? For example - Where does the lab meat get its B12 from. Factory farmed animals are given B12 as a supplement.

B12 is a bacterium that dies at 50 degrees Celsius, so it is not present in cooked or fried meat. It can be obtained from many plants.

    • @anned6913

@@leskwiatkowski6238 Oh thanks. I thought that B12 was the product/waste material of a bacterium in the soil and that it needed cobalt to be assimilated in the body. In areas where the soil is cobalt deficient grazing sheep and cows are given salt-licks with cobalt.
